We still have not booked any flights yet.. We know that Spirit out of Atlantic City does Great deals usually so we are putting it off a little longer since September deals haven't started yet..

I got 2 amazing $8 each way deals March which I came back from already and an upcoming April trip..

$16 for the plane and $21 for Taxes & Fees :confused3 but still well worth it

I have been instructed by DW to state that my autosig seems to put me in potental incognito.

My DW does not wish for all of you lovely people to think that she is the smoking, alcoholic, gambling, small candy animal torturing, detail over-analyzer of the group.

So even though DW pic and name are first in the auto sig, the poster with all the vices is.... The Original FATCAT a.ka. Chris

:rotfl2: Thanks I needed a giggle to lift my spirits (oh and I did think it was your wife posting at first, but something you said at one point made me realize that was not the case!).

It is a sad afternoon. We do not have an incomming TV signal so I did not see the news about the family whose mother died while trying to rescue her two daughter in an early morning fire (many of you may have seen it as I am told it made national news) yesterday morning. The two girls died as well. The older sister (who was not injured physically thank goodness) works with our theatre group at times and the enitre town is heartbroken for this family. Everyon please review fire safety plans with your kids soon:sad2:

Wow That is so sad. I know that terrifies me. Having little ones. We drill it in thier brains to just get out and go to the lamp post. That we can replace everything (including Blueberry and Tobey, the fave toys) but them.

My DS who is almost 4 will blow out any candle he ever sees "cause its fire Mommy"

Jen,
It is so sad and scary. We drill it into our kids too--including not to stop for shoes, coats ,etc. We tell them just get out and get to the tree and the nieghbors or firefighter, etc. will be sure to warm them up quickly. But you just never know how they might react. The girls who dies were about the same age as my kids (mine are 9 and 11) so not super little. It seems it was a very fast moving fire so they may have done everything right and still not have had time to get out. We actaully have a sprinkler system in our house (required by code here on new homes) and I am grateful for that. We test it every three months and while I know there are no guarantees, the sprinklers do seem to make things much safer.

Hmm.

I have a deep fryer at home.

I wonder what happens if I put Peeps in Hot Oil.

I will use the Cheeps. (Chick shaped Peeps)

A new twist on Chicken Nuggets.

This was a laugh out LOUD post!!! That rocks!

pfishgirl: *plllbbbbttt* to you. Even with using all the rewards from my credit card, I will be paying $72.

Hadley: Oh honey, I'm sorry. DH knows he's getting yelled at to wake up and get the dog, because I'll be running for Fiona in that situation. He changed out all the wired fire alarms a few months ago to be CO and smoke detectors. After 13 years, I figured it was time for all the original wired alarms to be swapped out (they're only supposed to last 7-10 years). It cost us about $220 from Amazon to redo the whole house. We also have plug-in CO ones along the floor. I am a bit militant. We also have fire extinguishers on each floor (easy to buy those yearly at Sam's Club).

We also have water detectors in the attic and the basement. I tend to spend most of my time in the top floor, and the basement sump pump has a habit of not working until it gets bopped. Not such a good thing with all the melting snow and torrential rains. With all the electronics in the basement, we needed the detectors.

I'm sorry for your losses, Hadley.

Hadley
Sad news.
We have detectors linked throughout the house. (Smoke, Gas, Carbon Monoxide)

But that is the extent of it.

I have been meaning to get some of those drop ladders.
Need to get on that.

I don't have the explosive gas ones because the fire marshall said those seem to go off for things like hair spray, versus actual emergencies. Is that what you are finding out? Or are yours reliable?

Thanks a bunch!

I Love LOve LOVE, Coach and I was wondering if there are any Coach deals in our ports. Since I would love to pick a new fall bag on vacation. I have looked around online but not seen anything listed. Is it just not high end enough?

Yeah it is a combo carbon monoxide and gas. I figured since everything in my house is gas. (Stove, Dryer, Heat) It would be a good idea.
Yes it goes off with all aersols but only in close proximity. We have the main issue with Pledge for dusting. So we have just stopped dusting.

DITTO to that. In this case the fire was extremly fast moving and appears at this point to have started in the walls from electrical wiring (a very old home). It is sounding like the stairs were blocked/burned and ladders may have saved their lives. Yeah, I think I will be at Loews this week finally getting those ladders (along wit hevery one else in town most likely). We do have smoke detectors and hard wire alarms as well as the sprinkler system and one CO2 dector per floor (including basement) so the ladders are really hte one last thing I really need to make myself get. I didn't really lose anything/anybody but my heart just breaks for that family.

:rotfl:

Hadley had the cool confetti eggs. She's my inspiration.*

*Trying to build up my brownie points after picking on her... :rotfl: I don't want boiled egg in my hair! :scared1:

Oh sorry, Brandie for not giving the credit where it was due!! That's what I get for sneaking a peak at the boards at work! You're both creative moms!

Ohhhh....I'm so, so sorry to hear about this. I haven't watched tv the past 2 days, so I've missed it. What a horrible tragedy. :sad2:

Hard to transition to this, but Chris, you are crackin' me up!

Airfare
Flying AirTran for this trip out of Philadelphia, but we are flying Southwest for our Vero Beach trip in May. We flew Southwest from Philadelphia in October 06 and we didn't have any problems. I will let you know how May goes since it has been a year and half since last Southwest trip. I just think they have better times on the return side to Philly than Airtran. I also can never get a decent rate with US Air.

My daughter is also waiting on Southwest to release for the Sept trip she is flying AirTran down with her sister, but hasn't booked return home yet. I think SW is releasing their Sept and Oct prices around mid April.

Maureen

We looked at AirTran, still waiting on Southwest. Thanks for the head's up when the fares come out. I look every day.

I got 2 amazing $8 each way deals March which I came back from already and an upcoming April trip..
Wow! How do you get fares like that? Do you have to sign up for that $9.00 club? I'd drive to AC for five of those.

Julie

Hadley I saw this on the news it is just a terrible tragedy!

Jen have you ever hit a Coach outlet store before?

Jen have you ever hit a Coach outlet store before?

Are you kidding? I have like 7 coach purses, all with matching wallets, coach shoes, coach sunglasses.......

Oh wait! You weren't talking to me!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Y'know I don't know what the deal is...we were in Nassau at the Straw Market and I thought maybe they might be CHEAP since every other booth seemed to be stocked full floor to ceiling chock full o' fake Coaches (they *do* look real, though....I'm not talking about the ones with the D's instead of the C's) but they were pretty expensive. I wasn't looking at getting one, just curious at the time....a wallet (that would be, like $250 retail, like $160 outlet was still $100). Of course you can bargain....but me, eh:confused3
Like scoutsmom said...the outlets are pretty awesome.

As for the fire......tragic. I have a "fire thing", ever since I was a little kid I have been terrified of fire, not so much anymore but you can bet my smoke detector batteries are fresh....:rolleyes1 In fact we had a "fire" at work just this past Friday. Turns out is was just a new A/c filter that touched the element and melted sending fumes into the air handler...but the alarm went off...no joke, I was the first one out of the building!!! Just as soon as we got outside there was one ambulance, a police car, SIX- yes- SIX fire trucks (two engines, two ladders, one BIG ladder (snorkel), and the chief's vehicle). At first I was kicking myself for not even stopping to grab my cell phone (so I could take pics) but then again.....it would not have been worth it to risk getting hurt for that stupid phone if it was more serious...(IBesides, is it new every two yet? Geez!)
Anyhoo, in the end we got to sit outside for 45 minutes, watch all the activity, and no harm was done, although the building stunk for a few hours. While somewhat suprised at the size of the response....last time there was a Post Office fire around here....well, It didn't turn out so good:

Hope everyone had a happy Easter. As much as I love them, I think I can go without seeing another Cadbury Creme Egg for another year......

Ok.....maybe not....:rotfl2:

Another one here without air fare. So far found a deal for $260 but would love to pay less LOL. I would give my 1st born.. heckI would throw in my 2nd born also for a deal like $8-$16 to fly. Yet If I gave them away, E and I could fly at the cost I found no prob LOL :rotfl: Heck we could probably go 1st class LOL :rotfl2:

Hadley OMG so sad about that family. My thoughts are with them, I hadnt heard anything about it.

Chris omg IM cracking up here I knew you were you LOL but for someone that didnt it does sound pretty funny. So guessing if we got on board and bumped into your wife, we should ask her to suggest her favorite whiskey or share a cuban before dinner LMAO:laughing:

OH and anyone not book there pre and post flight hotel yet.. Not sure why Im so terrified to do it? I know where and for how long just havnet bit the bullet:rolleyes1 Guess cuz its all on me. I want it to all work out and if it doesnt I have no one to blame but myself... yet I could blame E for not being here and helping LMAO:lmao:
