:Pinkbounc Just wanted to let everybody know that We made our first reservation with the DVC !!:bounce: We wil be staying 3 nights at the Doral resort & Spa in Miami and than from there we go to our home resort the BCV for another 3 nights!:Pinkbounc We can't wait till April comes around!!:Pinkbounc We'll let everybody know how the Doral was.:jester: I also have one question to ask, may be a dumb one:confused: This will be the first time for us to check into the BCV, and is there any difference from checking in at say the Poly? Any help would be great.:Pinkbounc

no, different checking into the bcv, matter of fact when we stayed at the bcv , bwv, wlv on points this past aug. and did not give a cc to charge to the room, i was surprised that we didnt get a check out bill hanging on our door. at least to state how many points that we had used for each stay. so i guess you can say its just like staying at home, unless you charge to the room and get mail hanging on your door at check out time, lol .

you will love doral & spa , i seen it on the today show during the summer i think, al roker was there for a few days and he would report in everyday, it looks beautiful and al said that doral has great food and plenty of things to do there, especially golf of course. doral is on our list to visit and the points during the summer are not bad at all. dont forget to let us know all about it when you get back:sunny:

Keep in mind that there are two ways to stay at the Doral in Miami through DVC.

The main resort (the Doral Golf Resort and Spa) is available as part of the Concierge Collection for nightly stays. The rooms are regular hotel rooms, not suites or condos.

Marriott's Villas at Doral, across the street from the main resort, is available for 7-night stays through the World Passport Collection. All units are 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condos. Guests at Marriott's Villas at Doral have full access to the main resort's facilities, including the Blue Lagoon, a spectacular pool area with a long water slide.

The Doral is a long distance from the beach, but it's a good base for day trips to the Everglades, the Miami Metro Zoo, and other Southern Florida attractions. Of course, golfers won't want to leave the Doral grounds.

We stayed at the Marriott Villas earlier this year (but not through DVC). It was great week at a very nice resort.

ahhh, i did not know about the full week stay through marriott doral across the street from the doral golf & spa. thank you, i will have to read my guide book again. i was refering about the doral golf & spa using points per day stay.

Werner Weiss have you ever stayed at any other concierge collection ?

thanks :sunny:

We've never stayed at any of the hotels or resorts on the DVC Concierge Collection list. The nightly point requirements are quite high, and we've never found ourselves with extra DVC points "to burn." But I'm still glad that DVC provides the Concierge Collection as an option.

We have stayed at eleven different Marriott Vacation Club International (MVCI) timeshare resorts, most of which are on the DVC World Passport Collection list. We didn't use DVC points for any of these stays. (We used our MVCI ownership, II exchanges, II bonus weeks, II Getaways, and MVCI nightly rentals.) The MVCI resorts were all excellent, well maintained properties.

If you have enough DVC points, and you want to stay someplace other than a DVC resort for a change, the MVCI resorts are an excellent option. The quality is comparable to DVC. MVCI has wonderful locations.

Keep in mind that booking into the World Passport Collection is completely different than booking into the Concierge Collection. There's no World Passport collection inventory until owners deposit their weeks with II, typically six months to a year before the check-in. The weeks are then matched to pending requests, with high-demand weeks going to owners of other high-demand weeks, who put their requests in early. In the case of MVCI weeks, II will only exchange them with other comparable MVCI weeks for up to 21 days, so DVC owners are at a disadvantage.

Dean, on this board, has provided all sorts of good advice about II exchanges through the World Passport Collection.

Werner thanks for all the info. I was also wondering, we are staying at the Doral spa and not the Marriott's Villas at Doral will still be able to use the Blue Lagoon?
Thanks for the help:bounce:

Yes, the Blue Lagoon is the pool area for guests of the Doral Golf Resort and Spa. It's also available to guests at the Marriott Villas at Doral.

Approximately 20 miles, with the possibility of heavy traffic during commute times.

Some people might just assume that any Miami resort is a beach resort. But the Doral was built as a golf resort, far from the beach.
