Dopey Shenanigans! A Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend TR (Completed-videos added)

Congratulations on finishing your Dopey Challenge!!! Dopey is my favorite guy, so I was glad to get a pic with him after the 5K--even then we waited almost half an hour, but I just HAD to get my pic with him (even though I wasn't running Dopey)! I sure do wish I DID run Dopey though....that medal was just WOW!!
Thanks! The medal is pretty amazing.

Congrats on a great finish! I'm very impressed! It does sound like a great experience, and fun memories for such an awesome accomplishment! That bling is also awesome!

You just completed a marathon... Lets go to the parks!

After getting showered and everything it was time to head to the parks! First up my favorite park Animal Kingdom! My friends were already in the park and doing some attractions. What does one do when entering Animal Kingdom and seeing the tree of life with 6 medals? Photo stop of course! As you can see it was finally warm enough to break out the shorts!

It is a process to get all the medals in order...

I decided to hit up Dinosaur first before meeting with them. I stopped for some more photos in between ;)

Dinosaur was fun as always!

Then it was off to find my friends and head back into my favorite land, Pandora! They were watching the monkeys (I don't remember what type of ape/monkey is on that island thing next to Kali River Rapids.

The detail never gets old...

Continued in next post...

Don’t those medals slow you down lol. Dinosaur is such an underrated ride. I love dinosaur but hate Dino Rama. Pandora is awesome, the details in the land still blow me away.

You just completed a marathon... Lets go to the parks!

We stopped for a quick picture before heading to ride Flight of Passage for the second time. Pam the one next to me wasn't with us the last time we rode so this was her first experience on the attraction.

She loved the attraction and thought it was really cool. Disney really hit a home run with it. I can't wait until I can ride it again.

After Pandora we headed out of Animal Kingdom to head to Epcot to meet up with the rest of our group and grab a bite to eat. But first... Pictures!

The goofy medal just didn't sit well on the arm like the rest of them.

We headed back towards World Showcase and met up with the others in Mexico!

I had been chatting with a friend of mine during the trip and found out he was in town while I was there. Some might know him from the DIS. It was Michael Bowling! Michael is the DIS historian and hosts the Connecting with Walt podcast. The rest of my group went on to explore World Showcase while I would meet up with Michael. We decided to get something to eat and talk at the San Angel Cantina quick service. We both ended up getting chicken tacos. After that we walked through World Showcase some more. We stopped in some of the stores along the way checking out the expensive clocks in the Japan store. We also wanted to go see American Adventure but their next showing wasn't for another hour for some reason. Michael is a really great person and I was happy to meet up with him on this trip. We parted ways in France and I met back up with my friends.

They were in back in Les Halles getting something to eat.

After our picture we noticed something weird looking in the sky. It was a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral! I had never seen one in person before! It was a SpaceX launch. None of my pictures of it turned out.

They still had the 25h anniversary banner up for photo ops.

After this we headed over to find a spot for Illuminations, my favorite fireworks show!

Up Next: We cap off the evening with a bang!

I kept them in my bag while walking ;)

There are just so many details in Pandora!

AK sounds so fun, Epcot pictures are great, so glad you had a nice park day... BUTTTTT I am so jealous your are friends with Michael Bowling! How cool! Dislebrities!

Yep no naps that day!

I’m very happy to say I have a ton of people as friends that are from here.

Woooo look at all that bling! How awesome you got to meet up and hang out with Michael Bowling, I mean could you have had a better trip!?! Congratulations again. Dopey is quite the accomplishment.

Thanks! Michael is such an awesome person!

People in line were all worried about the balloon ladies. I assured them we had at least three miles on them as I was tracking them on my phone.

I’m new to runDisney and I just started following your TR for some information! I was wondering how you tracked the balloon ladies on your phone. I’m a little concerned about them, because it will be my first runDisney event and I’ll definitely want to take pictures along the way. I know I’d be fine with just running, but with character wait times I don’t want to risk not finishing. Can you explain how you did it? Is that an option everyone has? Thanks, and congratulations on your marathon weekend accomplishments!

Thanks for following! You can track the balloon ladies like you track any other runner. You need to find their bib number before the race and enter it in so you can find out where they are. Many facebook groups and what not find out this information ahead of time. I saw the info on facebook and entered it in my phone so I knew where they were.

Perfect, thank you!

:woohoo:

Congrats on the Dopey!!! :worship:

Nice bling and the marathon ears are a nice touch.

The picture of Team Shenanigans with the Step Sisters is AWESOME!!!

I know that Russell and Doug from Up do regular character greets- is Carl out much?

The retired ride vehicles are cool! What a great opportunity to get up close and personal with some blasts from the past! You know what? I would probably be able to find the motivation to run if they had the Kitchen Kabaret props out (1) Nah, probably not and (2) Way before your time!

I love that you rode EE during the marathon!

The pictures of the Galaxy's Edge construction are cool. WOW!

Once again, congratulations on an impressive achievement!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

After 4 days of running, I'm in awe that you were able to visit two theme parks!

The pictures in Animal Kingdom with your medals came out really, really well!

I'm glad you got to meet up with Michael. That must have been interesting.

That's cool that you got to see the SpaceX in the sky! During our 2009 trip, a shuttle launch was scheduled for our arrival night. That one was scrubbed, but a few nights later, my Beach Club greeter friend Teena told us what time it was rescheduled, and to look east, towards Mexico to see it. We did see it briefly, but my pictures did not come out either.

:sad2:

I think you've got the arm holding up 6 medals down to a science by now! All those pics are great :)

Awesome that you were able to see the rocket launch--that's incredible!

Also, I am very jealous you were able to wear shorts Sunday!! It was SO cold during our whole trip that mine never made it out of the suitcase.

Thanks!

Carl is pretty rare I believe.

I wonder if they still have Kitchen Kabaret stuff?

Yeah I was very happy with the AK medal photos.

It was definitely cool to see the launch but yeah the photos just weren’t good.

It definitely gets easier the more photos you take ;)

It was still a little chilly but I said I’m wearing shorts I don’t care lol.
