I appreciate the spirit of this thread.
Guests can come complain to me without actually yelling at me.
I've been yelled at because Guest's did not have the park hopper option and wanted to use and extra day to park hop.
I've been yelled at because major attractions ran out of fastpasses.
I've been yelled at because there were no dining reservations left.
I've been yelled at because a child was (obviously) too short to ride an attraction.
I have been yelled at for the price of luggage carts at the airport.
I've been yelled at because Guests were stuck and evacuated from an attraction (justifiably frustrating) after I gave them fastpasses for any attraction to make up for their time.
So thank you for all of you who are taking the time to support us not being yelled at for simply doing our jobs correctly, doing our best to fix service breakdowns and trying to make things a little more magical for our Guests![]()
I remember when I was a kid, we were at MK for rope drop, over by the way to Liberty Square. This guy started screaming at the CM about how it was &$^^@*% that they wouldn't let people in the rest of the park, what the (&#% was wrong with the CM for not letting him go through, how he thought the CM was getting off on how much power he had, how the CM must feel like a big man for telling families they can't go into the park, etc etc. Just constant verbal attacks to this CM for not dropping the rope early. Then we heard over his radio that a stampede of people had overcome the rope attendant at Fantasyland and they had gotten through, the herd of the people of which we saw run by on their way to Splash or BTMRR I'm sure... And this guy lost his mind and just swore up and down at the CM, threatening to beat him up, etc etc. It's been like 20 years since that happened, I still remember it vividly. Another example of a guest acting poorly and not considering how that impacts the experiences of those around him.
This last time, we saw:
*A lifeguard getting screamed at by a parent for ejecting their child because they were peeing against a tree...
*A woman at 50's Prime who could have been my grandmother getting screamed at, I mean SCREAMED at, because there were no tables left for the day... It was raining, he was hungry, all other places to eat were full, what the f was he supposed to do, etc etc...
*A man who screamed at a front gate official at AK for letting people in for the Tusker House breakfast while he had to wait, which apparently wasn't fair because he just wanted to go get a FP for EE...
*A family yelling at a costumed CM because they wanted their table visited first because they had "things to do" and when the handler said no, they freaked on the costumed CM when they came by
*A man at CP going up to Tigger and demanding (I kid you not) he bounce on his tail and when he didn't, loudly saying that "he gets it" and that the whole thing was bull*. When he was told he had to tone it down or leave, we all heard how far he came and how much he was spending and that they just had to deal with his behaviour because it's what he's "paying to do."
*A guy yell at us, my fiance and I, because at Tusker Mickey came and did a full-on little silly production with us and how it was unfair because he had kids with him and we didn't so Mickey should just go to their table
*A person yell at a bus driver for driving too fast. Another at another time for going too slow. Another at another time for seating a scooter and his party of 20 who had just walked up to the bus while the line of 200 or so had been waiting several minutes...
It goes on and on.
Honestly, I think it's a sign of the death of the considerate consumer. People believe that spending money not only entitles them to a good or service, but it is a waiver from decent behavior. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard "I spend good money here, so..." I wouldn't need to work.
The one chuckle I always get is when you hear "Well I'm never coming here again." Every, single time I've ever heard it, it's always been from somebody we would love to have never come back again.
