DON'T Read This TRIP REPORT If You're a Princess Hater!

I WANT A FLAMINGO!!!

must have.... eBay here I come :surfweb:

LOL! :lmao: They are pretty cool aren't they? Good luck! :surfweb:

My vote is October at WDW.

If you're not that jazzed about Christmas, November is all done up for Christmas. Avoid it.

I hear you...... I think I could get really excited about Halloween at Disney. I was even cooking up some ideas on costumes. I had already plotted out an orange and black Cinderella gown for Katie and she LOVED the idea! I was going to make a fancy masquerade mask to go with it.

I probably COULD get jazzed about Christmas at Disney again..... I just don't think I'd get jazzed about the party again, compared to the Halloween party.

But man....... I can handle the cold. The heat just ruins it for me. I'm sort of holding off until some fall deals are announced. I never get PIN Codes, but others have said that the pin codes they got for October ran through the 6th, then picked up again on the 11th or so? I don't recall. But the public deals typically mirror the PIN Codes. So we'd have to check in on the 6th. I don't want to risk missing cross country districts, so don't want to go later. None of it is perfect. Soooooooo.......... here I sit.

Maybe I better make some ADR's just to cover myself........ :surfweb:

:thumbsup2 Go ahead and make the ADR's! It's so much fun! All of those possibilities sound good to me, but the idea of the orange and black Cinderella gown is almost too good to be true. Not to mention, that at Halloween, you can dress up, too! Chances are the weather will be less hot and humid this October. No guarantees, but I think that one year was a little unusual. You know, October 1st is the 40th anniversary of WDW. It's pretty exciting to imagine being there for that! November would be lovely, too, though!

Great shots of the GF. Hope to replicate some this may.

The PP photographers really caught Katie's natural smile nicely with the candid shots - she truly looks like she's having fun! Those photogs are not always that great at catching moments, so that was nice to see. And being like you - wanting to see it and take some nice pics, I would have been so happy to find so many good ones. Cool.

Your pictures of the Grand Floridian are amazing! I'm looking forward to seeing it in person in Sept.

Now, I'm looking forward to seeing Katies' next outfit:thumbsup2

Fabulous trip report! Wow her costumes are truly amazing. I was showing my husband and he is like "She wore that? To Disney World? Wasn't she hot!?" Lol...you can tell we have never gone anytime but late spring/summer! :lmao:

Can't wait to hear the rest!

Thanks Mike! The Grand Floridian is a GREAT place to try out a wide angle lens you know..........:rolleyes1

I can't wait to see what you come back with!

Thank you! :goodvibes I was so pleasantly surprised to see the photos. After having done it a couple times without photopass there, it was a real gift to have that glimpse into the experience.

I just realized I missed posting a couple of those. One was Alice and the Mad Hatter greeting the Queen, the other was Alice playing croquet with a cupcake. Katie was really tickled by this!

Thanks Carey! It really is something to see. Save some time when you're there to wander around and just take pictures. I loved that the tea party gave me a nice little block of time to do just that!

Well, first you need your official :welcome: Thanks for reading along!

Tell your husband he needs to read the early party of the report...... the part where it's INSANELY ARCTIC COLD! :rotfl2: I probably wouldn't have believed it got that cold in FL unless I had lived it!

12/16/10 Continued:

OK, so I don't have time for a full update, but wanted to give a sneak peek of our favorite costume of the trip! These are all photopass. Some were in front of the Christmas Tree in the lobby of the Grand Floridian, one is on our way back into the Magic Kingdom, where we would be for the rest of the night.

Any guess where we were headed first??????? princess:

DINNER at the CASTLE!!

I could be wrong but it seems to be your stoping ground :rotfl:

Thanks Amy! You inspired me to at least make some ADR's. You'll notice there's no ticker, since it's not even close to a sure thing. But I did find out they had been making ADR's on those dates for 7 or 8 days now, not to mention the 10 day advance window for some. I didn't do anything yet that requires a cc, but will have to do that soon if I want to have those options too. I probably wouldn't go as crazy with CRT again on this trip, but would probably like to do it at least once.

And yes, I did pick up a couple of early Crystal Palace ADR's so we can decide if we want to try our park opening "scheme" again........

DINNER at the CASTLE!!

I could be wrong but it seems to be your stoping ground :rotfl:

So was that really such a stretch? I love dining in the castle, and pretty much did it to death on this trip! But this was our "go for broke" princess experience. And we sure did!

And I'm pretty sure no one will be surprised by our first stop during the party!

LOVE her in that dress! It's my favorite of all the cute princess dresses I see in TRs. She's gorgeous in it.

The Alice/Mad Hatter party looked like so much fun. You have me wishing I could lose about twenty years or so just to go there myself! Looks like she had a wonderful time. She really has a beautiful smile. :)

12/16/10 Continued:

This tea party drives me nuts for one reason. No parents. I love this sort of thing and would love to just be a fly on the wall watching Alice and the Mad Hatter interacting with the kids. I wouldn't even want to be in the middle of things. Just a little fly on the wall with a camera and a long zoom lens! :lmao:

I have always sent a point and shoot camera in with Katie, but honestly, they are so busy having fun, she never has taken many photos. In the past, she came out with one posed photo with Alice and the Mad Hatter. And a few photos of the table decorations, but then nothing else.

This time I was quite pleasantly surprised to find out they had photopass photographers in the room with them. Did it really need to take them 2 years to figure that out???? :rotfl: Once the tea party was over, we visited the photopass kiosk on the second floor of the Grand Floridian, and we got to pick the shots to add to our account. The photos below were all taken by Photopass. You'll notice she insisted on bringing a replacement flamingo croquet mallet. She loved that Alice actually put a cupcake on the floor and played croquet with it!

OMG!!!!!!! If I had known the ynow had photopass in htere I would've made sure Claire di this this past trip. I love those pictures. I am so jealous. It wil lbe a SURE thing next trip now.
Of course you know how much I love the tea party as well!

The GF pictures are amazing. I really need to come into some big money so I can buy all the lenses I want and then take them to Disney when I want!

I love Katie's red Belle dress!

Well, now I just feel bad! It never even crossed my mind to tell you, and it should have! I honestly forgot about it until I went through the photos again.

Doesn't it make you wonder why they never thought to do that before? I'm sure you know how delighted I was to find out they had photographed it!

At least you still have a few more years. Katie is done with the tea party for good. Now THAT'S something to cry over! I'd say maybe I can take my grandkids one day, but they'll have to push me into the Grand Floridian in a wheelchair and wake me from my nap to even know it's going on!

I love Katie's red Belle dress!

Thanks Jen! :goodvibes Katie and I don't always agree on which one we like best, but the red Belle was definitely the favorite for both of us this time! I made it last spring once we knew we would be going at Christmas time. But I didn't get the flowers and bows done until right before the trip. I swear it took as long to make all those little flowers as it did to make the entire dress!

If you do get to a point where you're considering a lens addition, let me know. I'm always full of ideas!

The tea party looks like so much fun! I wish we had time for it during our October trip, but we are already trying to squeeze too mush in! I may have to wait for grandkids to take there, too!

Love the red Belle dress! It is beautiful!! So, are you thinking about going mid October, or closer to Halloween? You may have a stalker! :rotfl: I would love to see your custom costumes in person!!!

Thank you! :goodvibes

It really can be hard to fit in. It starts at 1:30 or 2, so it's right in the middle of the day. We have always done it on a 2nd or 3rd MK day, so we just monorail over from the park.

It would probably be best to do on a down day, but we just always try to squeeze it all in.

We're kicking around checking in on the 10th of October. It's by no means set, but if we do October, that would be it. Any later and we'd miss cross country districts and sectionals. And the PIN codes I saw blacked out Columbus Day weekend. And I don't want to BE there Columbus Day weekend either, at least not Saturday or Sunday.

If it works out, you'll to remind me so we can try to meet!

We Might overlap-we are arriving October 15 for a 4 night stay to celebrate Kendall's 8th birthday on the 16. She was nice enough to wait and be born after Columbus day so we can avoid those crowds! :rotfl: I know that in past years (according to mousesavers site) they have had discount codes for our dates, but they weren't released to the general public until August. So we are going regardless, but hoping to be able to add a pin to our reservation in August!

Well, that was sure thoughtful of her to avoid Columbus Weekend! :lmao: Katie's birthday is the end of September. We were there on her birthday in 09, but I don't want to do that again. Too hot. I know the odds aren't much better 2 weeks later, but it's the best we can do if we do October.

And honestly.... I evicted her as it was. I wasn't letting her stay put any longer! The boys both came before their due dates. Robbie was kind enough to come 2 weeks early, Timmy was 3 days early. Katie was 10 days late and had to be evicted! My doctor was in Greece those last 2 weeks. When I saw him for the first time after he got back he asked how I was doing. My answer was "I want her OUT!" LOL! :lmao: He said "How's today?" So of course, then I got all nervous and said "Tomorrow's fine...." As it was I had been pregnant 3 1/2 weeks longer than I had on the first one. And those were some really long weeks.........

It seems like forever ago, but Robbie will turn 18 this Friday. I'm still shaking my head over that......... not exactly sure how it happened.

If we do end up there the same time, it would be great to meet!
