DON'T Read This TRIP REPORT If You're a Princess Hater!

I'M HERE! I'M HERE! Great so far - thanks for pointing me in this direction!
:thumbsup2

Hi Shannon!

So glad to see you over here! I got good pictures of most of the skirt sets. As always, your appliques added so much. Thank you! :flower3:

It will probably be this weekend before I get to another update.

Hi!:cheer2:
So glad you are doing a TR! I'm getting sad about all the things we missed on our trip in December. We were freezing mostly and didn't do any parades in MK. :sad1:
Not sure I will ever go back in December because of the cold. I thought I was prepared but with layers and winter coats we were still freezing!

Many thanks for the kind comments and :welcome:

I was considering spending a noteworth "0" birthday in the Magic Kingdom in a couple years. But it just dawned on me that will be a couple weeks before my middle child graduates High School, so I guess that's out....... Sooooooooo....... I would definitely say DO IT if you can now!

And that would be 20...right? You must've been so young when you had your first one...just like me. I am only 20 as well...and I have 22 year old son!

Hey Shannon...... I said Hi........ but left off your official............ :welcome:

Hi Kira! You get one too! :welcome:

I'm so glad to find you here. I sure understand. I always grieve the things we miss. And you really had the deck stacked against you with sickness on top of the cold. They said it was record cold, not typical of even December. But last year we hit the record heat. So I'm starting to think maybe it's just me???? :confused3

So here's the deal...... just be sure and go next time when I'm NOT there! :rotfl2:

And that would 20...right? You must've been so young when you had your first one...just like me. I am only 20 as well...and I have 22 year old son!

Yeah.... sure....we'll go with that. My oldest is almost 18, but we were married 8 years before he came along.......... 8 plus 8..... carry the 1........ YEP! :thumbsup2 20 it is! :rotfl2:

i'm popping in to say hello. :)

as for a "LR for dummies" type book, have you checked out Scott Kelby's books? i bought his LR book because i was somewhat lost switching over from ACR. he writes in a way that is pretty simple to understand (good for someone like me). he also uses screen shots to help show what he's teaching. i've bought his PS books in the past as well.

anyway, if you already knew that, then just ignore me! lol!

Hi! I'm glad you popped in. I actually have some other of Scott Kelby's books, and they seem basic enough for even me to understand........ so I'll check that out. All I had done so far was look up Lightroom 3 for Dummies on Amazon and found out it didn't exist yet. I was afraid to order something else for fear it would be too technical. But if it's as easy to understand as his other books, it should be fine. Sounds like a great plan.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you TONS for the magical reprieve princess::wizard: from my 102 fever, aches, coughing and nose blowing!!! Not to mention the very sad news out of Japan this am.

I am SO enjoying the report and pictures. I am only disappointed that I have caught up and am anxiously awaiting more as I lay in bed home from work...

Perhaps I will go lurk on another's report :) for a bit and check back tonight.

I truly have enjoyed your unique insights, awesome pictures, helpful feedback, amazing costumes and fun stories since I arrived on the DIS a couple years ago. Thanks for sharing so much and giving so many a chance to share in your magic, a chance to learn how they can make such a special place a little more special when they visit themselves and the chance to bring a little Disney into our freezing homes when we all wish we were there! :flower3:

I am missing our Feb trip in a huge way as it was last minute, quick and fun filled... and the next trip is spring 2012. Owell, thanks to you and MANY others I get to relive and experience new things as I plan!

Thank you,
Sydnerella's Mama

Gosh, I hardly know how to respond. And those who know me know I'm not speechless very often! :rotfl2:

All I can say is a heartfelt thank you. I love that I can find others here who enjoy the magic as much as we do. :goodvibes

I'm so sorry you are under the weather. It really does stink to be dealing with an illness AND a post-Disney slump all at the same time.

I'll try to work on editing photos and hopefully get a update done no later than tomorrow.

Up next is a long, magical and very cold day in the Magic Kingdom. Sort of like deja vu all over again????

We'll see our Fairy Godmother, have some fun with Tiana and eat in the castle. Wait, wasn't that the day before? Well, yes, but I subscribe to the theory that if it's fun once, it's fun twice..... or maybe more. :goodvibes But we'll add some new things too. And I'll tell the story of that photo in my signature, one of my favorite Disney moments ever. :goodvibes

Hi, just got caught up on your trip report. First off, as always, your dresses are gorgeous. I love your Rapunzel and the Belle with the matching wrap. I love the story about Katie checking her lipstick in the spoon at 1900 PF, so funny. I'm glad she appreciates all your hard work on those dresses - I don't blame her for not wanting to part with them, especially that beautiful Tiana dress.

Your photos are AMAZING. All of them, the ones inside the restuarants, the rides, the shows, the fireworks - AMAZING!!!!

Sadly, it won't be. I'm having my gallbladder out tomorrow morning.

I may DIS from my phone, but it's tough to really see everything that goes on on such a tiny screen!

I hope all went well with your surgery and you're feeling better!

Many thanks and :welcome: to another Disboutiquer! I'm glad you found my report. Thank you so much for the kind comments. I also got a big kick out of her checking her lipstick. Until I got a glimpse of how grown up she looks! :scared1:

As I write this, I'm walking Katie through her first sewing lesson. :scared1: Man, I'm not good at this. I'm not sure I have the patience, but have long looked forward to passing on my love of sewing, so I'll just have to dig deeper. :goodvibes

amazing dresses!!!
We are tentatively planing 1900 as a diner during our June trip...told he 13yr old DS that he has to propose to one of the stepsister!!!

Should be fun!!

I hope all went well with your surgery and you're feeling better!
Thanks for the well wishes! I'm recooperating quite nicely, thanks to DH and the kids!

I'm eagerly awaiting an installment popcorn:: *COUGH-COUGH* to aid in my recovery of course!!! ;)

I agree that it most definitely will be a blast :yay: I booked an ADR for 1900 after reading the OPs ringing endorsements of the stepmother and stepsisters hilarious interactions. And it did not disappoint! My DD3, dressed head to toe as Cindy, LOVED seeing her faves - that would be Drizella and Anastasia - in action!

And to top it off our DS5 came with his sword (from CRT) and wearing a crown so Lady Tremaine kept after him to marry one of her daughters. Then Anastasia made sure our "Prince" had alot of money to support her sisters ahem... tastes. The grand finale was Drizella planting a bright red lipstick kiss on our sons cheek puckerup::love2: and the adorable reaction he and his sister had. :scared1: DS5 was a great sport about it and it was so cool to have some character fun with our little dude since it was a very princessy trip! It was an absolutely priceless moment!

And another fab experience encouraged by Katie's Mama pixiedust: - thank you very much!

Excited for the next trip post - no pressure LOL!

It's so great that you're teaching Katie to sew! My mom taught me to sew and I am so thankful. Don't underestimate just how much your passion for sewing helps, even when you run short on patience. I remember a huge thing for me was when my mom gave me my own supplies - scissors, pin cushion, tape measure, etc. Made it seem like I was doing it on my own instead of just helping.

My mom and I were at a quilt shop today and saw the most beautiful Cinderella fabric and it made be think of all of you on the sewing thread. It's probably old news, but it's the Disney Dream Thomas Kincade fabric.

Wow! I just stumbled upon your trip report and I have enjoyed it so much. Your pictures are great, the costumes are fabulous, and your daughter is GORGEOUS. Makes me want a daughter of my own to play princesses with!!! (I have a 1.5 year old prince and he'll be the only one for awhile!!) Thank you so much for sharing!

That sounds priceless! And the stepsisters will love it! My boys would never have done it. They had a way of disappearing every time a character came near our table. When one of them was along on our visit in 08, I cornered Lady T and told her to keep an eye on him since he'd bolt the minute she got there...... but she didn't let that happen. She grabbed the back of his shirt and wouldn't let go. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! :rotfl2:

Glad to hear everyone's taking good care of you! Just STOP THAT COUGHING! Can't have you busting a stitch or anything!

That is SUCH an awesome story. I'm so glad to hear how it turned out! What a great kid to play along the way he did. What a special memory! :goodvibes I'd love to see you post a photo here so I can see!

Thanks for the encouragement. Katie made her first doll dress yesterday and is now after me to get out my backup sewing machine so she can try some more. I'm on mine so much it's hard for her to get time on the main one.

And I've seen photos of that Thomas Kincade fabric. I need to get into a quilt shop and see it in person. It looks gorgeous!

You can do it! Just think of her memories one day! What is she making? Pretty fabric? Looking forward to the next trip report installment! :goodvibes

Well, the first problem was that she wanted to dig through all my fabric and every one she picked was something very limited or long out of print. She finally settled on a couple of calicos to use together. Purple and orange! Very bright and pretty.

Well, first you get your official :welcome:

Next, many thanks for all the kind comments. We had 2 princes first so anything can happen. I love my boys, but am so glad I also got to do the girl thing. If I had 2 girls first, I would have been hoping for a boy the last time.

I do hope you get to do the girly stuff one day too! :goodvibes

PARK DAY 3: 12/14/10 Magic Kingdom:

I had hoped that Monday would be the one cold day and Tuesday things would start improving. I kind of think Tuesday morning was even colder! It was funny though. I watched the weather that morning. It was a cold start, but it was supposed to get up to 50 that afternoon. Then the local weather person added "Not the sort of day you want your kids out waiting for the bus". I thought this was hysterical, since when it hit 50 back home in December, you usually saw people out in shorts.......

Still, the morning was REALLY cold again. So we bundled up and off we went. A later start would have been great, but Katie had an 8 AM appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Katie has done this on several past trips. It has been her tradition to go as Cinderella, but this time she REALLY wanted to wear her green Tiana gown. Really? But it's strapless, and sort of COLD looking. Well, she's not a baby and I figured she'd add layers if she needed to. We put her red jacket on over the dress, and the fleece lined cape over that. With handwarmers and a muff, she was ready to go!

We were freezing, but I couldn't resist stopping for a quick shot of the Grand Floridian bathed in beautiful light:

Of course, it was still too cold for nice photos on Main Street too. The castle was gorgeous on the early morning sun, but all the flowers and foliage was covered in white tarps. Not exactly the early entry we had hoped for!

We mostly just hurried along and really appreciated getting back indoors at the Boutique.

After the fairy godmothers in training did their magic with Katie, we headed for Castle Couture to warm up and get a few photos in their studio. They told us in there that the Fairygodmother herself would be out soon, and sure enough she was. She walked right through the shop and greeted Katie by name. She then took her by the hand and led her out to her spot outside for photos and a chat.

Katie looks beautiful in her green Tianna dress. I can why she wanted to wear it. How special to be greeted by the FG.

Tiana wasn’t due to be out until 10, so we had time for a couple rides. Thankfully Katie didn’t request the Carousel, since I think it was too cold for that. We didn’t attempt Dumbo either, since I didn’t want to go up and ride around in the cold morning air!

We did Pooh, which is brief, but inside at least. I had heard a lot about that fancy new queue, but we didn't stop to check it out. Instead we scurried on inside for some warmth. There was almost no one in line, so it was almost a private ride.

We then scurried into the next indoor ride to warm up again. This time it was Snow White's Scary Adventures. Now that I know it's closing, I wish I had taken more photos. Hopefully we'll get back before it closes, but with no trip currently scheduled, who knows......

Then I saw Mary Poppins walking through Fantasyland in her red coat! That doesn’t happen often so we followed her and got photos. We have met Mary on many other occasions, but always in her white Jolly Holiday attire. I always wanted to see her in her coat. Apparently that's one of the consolation prizes for being there on the coldest morning of the year! :rotfl2:

MARY POPPINS FLASHBACKS
:

We met Mary in costume for the first time in January 08. When we entered the park that day, Mary was not out anywhere. A couple of Cast Members asked Katie for her autograph, which she just loved. Pretty soon, one of the CM's volunteered to go FIND Mary and bring her to us! When she came out, she had her adorable friend Bert in tow. It was a very magical meeting:

When we returned in December of 08, we brought another Mary Poppins costume and would have loved to find Mary in her coat, but still had fun finding her just the same:

So of course we did what we had to when we saw Mary walking through Fantasyland that morning in her coat...... we stalked her! She finally set up a meeting spot over by the Philharmagic:

Around 9:50 we headed for Tiana’s spot. Where we waited…. And waited. Several others waited too and gave up. Finally I asked in the Christmas shop and they called to find out she was in Adventureland on the veranda. So we headed over there and asked around. No one there knew where she was. Turns out she was inside because of the cold. That surprised me because she had been out the day before when it had been just as cold. We got our photos, and Tiana and Naveen were both quite taken with Katie’s fur muff.

Next we headed back out toward Main Street for a couple photos in front of the castle. On the way we were treated to another sighting of the Main Street trolley........

It was still fairly early, but we were open to anything indoors, so we decided on an early lunch at Cosmic Ray's.
