Donald's Defiant Dashers Team Challenge

Helllooooo Triple Ds.

It seems like eons ago that I popped in here to give you a little free training advice for the challenge. So, here goes this week's advice. Whatever you do, do NOT oversleep and be unable to make it to the gym in the morning. Do NOT blow off your workouts to go to happy hour. And do NOT stuff yourself on Erica's birthday cake so that you can't run/walk/bike/do downward facing dog without getting ill.

And that little bit of reverse psychology trash-talking is offered to you in honor of Erica's coursework & as a belated happy birthday to her! :bday:

Have a great week, folks!

Hey Team!

I have been down with a bad cold since Friday, but seem to be on the mend, so should be back in action this week. I'm joining the gym with my husband on Tuesday, and plan to get in on the cross-training fun also!

Oh - and I signed up for my first 5K, the Philadelphia Run for Clean Air on April 19th! So I have my first race goal. Now I am looking for a 10K in late May or early June.

It's great to hear how everyone is doing!

Hey team! Had a great weekend of cardio. In the last 2 days, I was able to get in 14 miles. It feels great to be able to get that much in and still feel strong.

Question: I know this may be a dumb question but one I feel I need to ask. It seems like everyone is posting some of their achievements but not really distances. Since that is part of what we are supposed to be keeping track of, where do we post that information to make sure that it gets counted for? I just want to make sure that I am able to help the team, not hold us back from certain victory!!

TIA!

Hi everyone :goodvibes

Hope you all have had a nice weekend!

It's been a tough one here and my already low numbers (sorry guys hopefully, my numbers will go up as my back/hip gets stronger from the training:wizard: ) will likely suffer this week.

We had a death in the family on Friday and then I landed in the emergency room at 4am this morning so my weekend was nearly a wash out :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty:

Hoping to get some extra time in the rest of the week :wizard: :wizard:

My thoughts, prayers and hugs are with you. Take care of yourself first.
We will all have days/weeks that we won't be able to put in the hours for our team or ourselves. We're a team and when one person isn't able to workout, maybe someone else will actually be working out more.

I think once a week (on Thursday) we report our total miles and time. I think throughout the week people are just posted their daily accomplishments.

Good morning Triple D’s!

Hoping everyone is having a fine Monday.

Erica – Happy belated birthday!

Tricia – WTG with the 5K. Sorry your legs didn’t want to cooperate.

Mike – WTG with the biking and running!

Kira – Hope you’re feeling better.

Bubba – Post your totals on Thursdays and I’ll get the spreadsheet updated.

Minnie – I’m so sorry about the family crisis. Take care of yourself.

I'm officially off of the antibiotics, so it's time to hit it hard. I have the Seaside (FL) 1/2 marathon scheduled in three weeks. I better get with it.

:)

Forgot a few things!!

Erica - forgot to say Happy belated birthday. Was it on the 9th? That is my DH's bday also. Again happy birthday.

Vic - glad you are feeling better.

Minnie - to you. Take care of yourself and don't worry about getting the miles/time in this week if you can't. You are more important healthy so make sure you take time to rest this week!!!

Happy Midnight here on the East Coast.

Erica – Happy belated birthday!:bday:

Tricia – Good job on the 5K! A little warm up run may help you feel better at the start.

Mike – Sounds like a good weekend, I can't wait to get on the road bike here.

Kira – Glad your cold is getting better.

Bubba – Nice job on the mileage for the weekend.

Minnie – I’m so sorry about the family. Hope you are feeling better from the trip to the ER.

Vic Glad you are off of the antibiotics and feeling better.

I was skiing again both days over the weekend and I am still amazed at how little actual skiing you do in a 6 or 7 hour period. I managed 3 miles on the TM tonight, but did not really feel right. I think I am still a little worn down from woking so much last week.

Hope everyone has a great week. :thumbsup2

So captain Vic - does sprinting to multiple bathrooms checking on kids when sick yourself count. :rolleyes1 It was running on an obstacle course but only for short periods of time. If it does, then our hours might skyrocket this week. :lmao:

I was able to get out and did 4 miles yesterday and didn't feel horrible afterwards. My energy level is still low but I am recovering. Hopefully I can pick up more this week.

Sounds like EE Challenge-specific training to me. Could also be considered interval/speed work. Did you have your Garmin running to keep accurate splits and totals.

I agree with PatsBill. :rotfl:

Glad to hear you guys are feeling better.

OK guys I'm back on track.

I just did 3 miles in 40 minutes - and it's about 28 degrees outside and snowing. I think my glasses were icing over from my breathing!

It really did take the team for me to get out there because I HATE cold!

Kira, that's just good toughness getting out in that weather! Good job!

Vic, glad you are feeling better.

Everyone else, keep up the awesome work!! We are all on our way to getting fitter and healthier!

I'm sticking to the schedule...had a good swim last night, and water run this morning. Will do some ab work after work this evening (in time to watch Biggest Loser). :goodvibes

SUPPP RoadKill, I mean tripple Ds. How's it going, y'all getting your steps in?

You need to watch out for that PatsFan Bill, he has been having problems with reality here lately. He hasn't once did this little number::worship: to a member of Hakuna Matata for over a week.

Helpfull Panda:hippie:

Struggled through 2.75 miles on the TM in 40 minutes (yes, slow), then did back to back 30 minute classes with weights. Killer workouts! 30 minutes of Pyramid lifting, followed by 30 minutes of power sculpting. Felt great at the end (thankful it was over).

Team - keep up the great work.

Good morning Triple D's!

3 miles on the TM last night and the feet faired pretty well. I used Body Glide on the affected areas and it helped. Still had the burning sensation, but nothing like the night before.

Betsy - WTG with the swimming and water running! :thumbsup2

Stir the Pot Panda - W'supp? :cool2:

SamSam - WTG with the 2.75 miler! :thumbsup2

Keep up the great work, everyone!

:)

Hi, Triple D's! Thanks for all the birthday wishes (yup, it was the 9th -- Happy Birthday to your DH, Tircia!). Unfortunately, for my birthday I got some great amethyst mickey head earrings, the first 2 seasons of The Office (my poor DH is *so* glad the writer's strike is over and he doesn't have to listen to me whine about missing my show), 2 sick kids, and the flu. So the only running I have been doing is along the lines of Bill's workout plan...

Great job for everyone getting those miles in! I will have some serious catching up to do, if and when my sinuses ever drain and my stomach settles. Oh, and anyone want to explain how it is possible that I have gained 2 pounds even though i cannot hold anything down? Anyone? Beuhler?

Hope everyone has a great, active rest of the week! Oh, and don;t forget tomorrow is Valentine's Day -- wouldn't want any of my teammates in the dog house! :dogdance:

Hi Team!

Just checking in. I hope the epidemic of ills is subsiding and everyone is feeling better.

It looks like everybody is doing the best they can to stay moving.

A little ice storm banished me to the TM Wednesday but I managed to get 8.2 miles in.

Take care everyone.

Enjoy Valentine's Day.
