Donald's Defiant Dashers (AKA Triple D's/Duckies/The Ducks) Dashing into 2010

Well Renee, Dan, Sharon and all, I just might be doing the Wine and Dine Half!!! So Renee, I will be deciding VERY SOON if I am doing it.

I thought about it, priced it out, had the all important conversation with dh and right now there's a high chance I'm going to do it. I just need to let it sink in a bit and make sure I've got my ducks in a row (haha, no pun intended).

Of course this means I'm going to have to somehow get past all this crud I seem to be dealing with as far as aches/pains/injuries and still not having a good pair of running shoes. eek. But, I know I can walk it if I had to, and chances are I'll be able to at least do a run/walk. So even if I can't run the entire thing, that's ok. This will be a BIG OLE MOTIVATOR and I think I need that right now.

Now, to help me think about this and make potential plans....what are everyone's plans for that weekend?? Tell me everything! Where are you staying, how long will you be there, are you going solo? I will be solo so I would love to meet up with any of you guys over the weekend, and we must do a planned Ducks meet, right?! I'll have an Annual Pass so I can do some park time. I don't know yet if I would fly down Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. I want to stay as cheap as possible on property so I'm thinking POP and maybe I can get an AP rate...I need to see if those are available...

No hard plans yet, but I will be going on the cheap. Looking at surprising my wife with a trip down with me. Tentatively I am looking at flying down on Friday and leaving Sunday, but that may change to Sat. I am looking at staying at one of the value resorts as well. I have a plan to meet up with another running group (ROTE) on Sunday, but other than that I have no plans and am up for a meet Friday night or Saturday. Deb will be there also. :cool1:

I so hope you're able to go! A meet with the Ducks would be fun. :)
I'll be staying at POFQ from the 1st to the 3rd. Then I'm going on a cruise. All solo. :) I don't plan on any park time, but if there was a Wish meet, I could probably make it depending on the time.

Hello Ducks! Hope everyone is doing good. Actually, I guess we are, Renee and Liz are signing up for the W&D, and Joe, great time in the 10K! I have run only once in the last few weeks, but have a 5K next Saturday so I plan on running a few times this week at lunchtime. Next Sunday I am entered in three bike races, a 5K and 10K TT and a 20K road race. Today I did a yearly club ride and besides the actual ride of 68 miles I rode to the start so wound up with 89. A nice warmup for my Harpoon ride in Boston in two weeks.

As for my plans for the W&D, I arrive on Thursday and am leaving on Sunday. Staying on points at BW,and always do some park time. Have to get my RnR /EE fix! Probably do the expo on Friday. A Duck meet would be cool!

Liz, so glad you plan on coming!

We will arrive on Friday, staying offsite, staying at BCV Saturday for the convenience after the race, then moving to Kidani Sunday for a couple of glorious weeks. I would love to attend a meet!

HEY all! It's been a very long time since I've posted and haven't kept up with the thread at all. Now, I visit this morning and read this page only - and wish I was doing the Wine n Dine. Instead, I registered to the Philadelphia Rock n Roll Half Marathon on Sept. 19 (so Liz, you can put me down for that one.) I am trying to expand my horizons beyond Disney, but I am not liking it one bit! I do plan on doing the WDW Half/Marathon in January. For some reason, the Marathon Monday marketing is having me consider doing the FULL! I don't know why - I don't really have time to train for that one. Talk me out of it. Hope everyone has a great day! The storm around here seems to have broken the heat - it has felt like July or August the past week or so! Now, it's on the "chilly side" this morning and I miss the heat. Guess there's no pleasing me! LOL!

Please like we would talk you out of running more  Go ahead and sign up for the full, come on, you know you want to ;)

So I went on the Wine and Dine website to check out all the little details and saw that you need to stay at one of the host resorts in order to get the transportation. And they have special rates. So I need to call this morning and see about that. I think of the All Stars I'd pick Movies. I'd much rather stay at POFQ though. hmmm..

Joe~ Congrats again on your first race! :)
We did MNSSHP in 2007 and had a blast, that's great you and Debbie are going to it. That'll be a fun way to celebrate your race(s).

Renee~ Two weeks in WDW, how nice! Yeah that will be cool to run in all 4 parks in one day! Part of me thinks about doing the 5K too..but then I would want to try to sleep in that morning so I can extend my energy into that night. I'm going to need it!

Dan~ Oooh, a surprise for your wife, nice! What is ROTE?

Jessica~ Love that you're doing a cruise, great way to rest after the half. How fun!

Augie~ You crazy biker you! lol 3 races in one day?!

Sharon~ Ahhh, a two week trip for you too! I'm green with envy!

Laura~ C'mon, just do the Wine and Dine TOO. If crazy me is doing it, ANYONE else on here should too!!
Good luck deciding on the half or full for January.... If you think you can do it, and want to, then go for it!

quick check-in --

Wine/Dine - staying off-site at a condo (about a mile from Disney), will be down from Sept 30-Oct 6 i think

will catch up later today or tomorrow

What is ROTE?

a great running community - Running of the Ears .com -- about 60 of us doing the Wine/Dine -- tons of good info, nice people - and running races all over the country, especially Disney races

Laura: Wish I had known you were registering for the Philly half - I've got a $10 off coupon code!

I'm doing the half too!

Ok it's not official yet because I haven't registered for the race, but I did book a room for W&D weekend! I just had to go with POFQ...the All Stars just aren't speaking to me. lol I've never stayed in the Values but I have stayed at POFQ multiple times and it's one of my favorites! ♥ I booked it for Friday and Saturday. And after researching the current codes and deals, the best price was the race deal so I went with that. The only thing I don't like about it is that even though I am only buying the room (no dining or tickets) it's still considered a package...and therefore the cancellation policy is 45 days. I'm used to the 5 or 6 day room only policy. Hopefully it won't matter!

I also booked something else for that weekend. The Fort Wilderness Segway Tour!! I did the Epcot one a couple years ago and LOVED it. It was such a blast. I've been wanting to try this one out, and now's my chance! So I'm doing it at 11:30 on Saturday Oct. 2nd. Anyone want to join me??? :flower3:

Just checking in real quick, but wow! That's awesome! If I felt I would be ready by then, I might consider joining you. :goodvibes Can't wait to hear all about it.

Carissa,

You will be ready, that is almost four months away, come on, you know you want to :rolleyes1

Hi Everyone! I'm really excited for all of you guys that are running that race...Good Luck to everyone! I'll forward to hearing all about it!

I had a horrible run today. I went out running this afternoon. I ran 2 miles in 25 minutes. That's the longest it's ever taken me to run that route and I got a really bad side stich during it. Well, I'm gonna run the same route tomorrow so hopefully I do better.

Okay, so maybe I started something here. I was the one who all but begged Liz to sign up for the W&D. There's several posts that already speak of us "being there" and running it. Now all Liz and I need to do is actually register, eh?

So who's organizing the Mighty Duck Reunion? On Friday? Or Saturday? Or after the race early Sunday morning (yep, I suspect some of us will be finishing the W&D Half on Sunday...)?

Reminder to self: Register for the W&D Half...

Philly Rock n' Roll Half is September 19! Isn't W&D in early October?
I'm 40 years old . . . with three knee surgeries. Not sure how smart that would be! OMG - I'm considering it.

You have an open invitation to join me at POFQ! ::yes::

Bummer about the bad run. I'm sure it'll be better next time!

I would most definitely be finishing on Sunday morning!! No doubt about that. I think my goal will be to finish before 1am!!

If I can do it in my sad state (and I still don't even have a new pair of running shoes! LMBO!) than you certainly can! As of today there are 16.5 weeks to train...race is October 2nd at 10pm! :)

Well, My race on Monday was stinky!!! I didn't feel good to begin with, it was very hot and I have not been eating well..
I was dead last at 47 min.
I think it sort of took an emotional toll as well.. I had planned to run this evening but I soo don't want to go. I really need to try and get better at my time as well as extending the length of running. I am going to start timing myself from now on...

LadyDooley: Like the rest of the Ducks have said: We all have bad races. But the most important thing is that you FINISHED. So keep your head up and keep moving forward.

For all of you doing the W & D Half I am truly jealous. I want to run it but I have a important certification test I have to take at the end of October and just can't afford to take the time to go to WDW for the race. But keep the post coming. I'll just live it through all of you.

Now for some news, I have convinced my DW into doing the WDW Half Marathon with me in Jan. She is very excited about doing it. She started the C25k plan this week, so I now have a training partner. Also my DD will be running in the 2yo race. So we are making it a family adventure.

Hope everyones training goes well and that everyone with injuries has speedy recoveries.

Well Ducks, I registered!!! It's official, I'm doing the W&D Half! :yay: I also bought the pin.

16.5 weeks to get ready. I better get my new running shoes asap! :rotfl:

OK Renee, YOUR TURN!! ::yes::
