Donald's Defiant Dashers (AKA Triple D's/Duckies/The Ducks) Dashing into 2010

Morning Ducks. I am not a happy one today. Yesterday morning (or maybe during Monday night) I developed pain in my right hip/lower back area. It is a sharp, shooting pain that seems to start in my upper hip and then radiate out my lower back, into my other hip, and also down my right leg. It makes my leg weak. It almost brought me to tears a few times yesterday and as I sit here typing this it's pretty bad. No idea if this is from running, or just a random thing. I took 220mg of NSAID yesterday and I don't think it helped. I just need to rest I think.

Liz,

That is terrible...hope you feel better soon.:goodvibes

Planning on 5 miles today - as the Princess inches closer - just taking it as it comes day by day right now...life is good, i'm in vacation brain mode though so my work is getting done slowly, instead of efficiently...

---

Rich - hope you find a race that interests you - nice job on the 50 running/60 biking

Emily- hope your feeling back to yourself again soon

Tim- wow on the utlra...and i like your idea of keeping your base training at a certain level

Liz- that's great about the shelter being able to choose first...nice - and congrats on your 3 min increase in speed - I checked teh dates on the virtual, but it doesn't work for me, we'll just be getting home - too much going on - good luck to everyone - oh NO, just read...aww hon, i hope you figure it out and get pain relief

Carissa- great job on the c25k...i know the 20 seems like a lot, but once you're going, you'll suddenly be like, wow, i'm okay...

Dan- when does that kick in? the guilt part? LOL I'm still waiting!

You will get to a point (like I did yesterday) where you feel guilty at the end of the day for not exercising.

I've always felt guilty about not working out. Not that it ever made a difference. :rotfl:

Oh Liz hope you are feeling better.

Sorry I haven't been around much but I also haven't gotten much done in the way of running or even walking - been a BIG lazy!!! But I am planning on being in Orlando the weekend of the Princess unfortunately I am not running and not staying in the Disney area. My neice has a gymnastics competition in Orlando (north of Universal) on that Saturday so we are staying in the Universal area using points I earned on my Starwood rewards card from last years stays at the Swan and Dolphin (yeah when I could still afford it - LOL) We are planning on doing Disney on Sunday since we all have left over day(s) on our tickets from January. Most likely doing AK in the morning and Epcot later in the day. If anyone is doing the Princess and planning on doing either of those parks on Sunday maybe we will run in to each other - not making any promises either because I know how it goes. LOL

I really need to get back into a habit of running - I am starting to get fat and lazy. It sure is hard getting started again - hopefully my motivation will kick in sometime soon. Until then thanks for being such a GREAT team!!!!

Liz, hope the pain goes away soon. (especially before the virtual!)

Carissa, it is good that you have gotten in a habit to run. I do not reallyfeel guilty as Dan does, but if I miss a day of being on the bike (like today due to rain) I definately miss it. (I do not really get the same feeling towards running)

Hard to believe March is almost here.....

that doesn't sound good at all. :( i hope you can rest and take it easy. and that you start to feel better quickly.

i did a shortened run this morning. i ran 4.5 miles last night. and thought i'd run this morning. i got to about two miles and had to quit. i've been slacking off on my strength training, so i had put that back into my routine. i was dying! i think it was the strength training combined with the run last night and trying to run again this morning. i need to spread my runs out a little bit more.

It sounds exactly like sciatica. Got it knife-stabbing BAD last year. The chiropractor and time helped. Good luck . . . .

add me to the injured list! lol!

yesterday, i banged my ankle against my kids' bunkbed ladder. and now, my ankle is slightly swollen and bruised, and really sore. it's right on the bone (that sticks out) on the inside of my ankle. dang.

today was a rest day. so, i'm hoping it will feel better for my run in the morning. such a silly thing to do.

Ouch! I am such a klutz when it comes to stubbing my toes. Once I stubbed my little toe so badly I broke it. It still sticks out funny. :sad2:

Hope it's feeling better by tomorrow!

Liz - Check in today, please. I'm worried about you!

yes, liz! check in!!!

and i feel like an idiot. really. of all things to do!

Hey all, thanks for the well-wishes and asking about me. :goodvibes The pain started to lessen yesterday afternoon, after my 3 yr old and I took an unplanned nap. Today I put a heating pad on the area(s) and layed down for a long while and that seemed to help. As of right now, it is more of a dull pain than sharp, with only an occasional shooting pain. So whatever it was/is, it came on fast and seems to be going away fairly fast. So that's good! I won't run until it's all the way gone.

Deb~ I know you will be recovering from the Princess Half and your trip so you can't do the IWISH. I'm so excited for you about that race! I was reading the Princess thread and it reminds me of the excitement and anticipation I felt before the WDW half. So much fun... :)

Tricia~That's fun you'll get some WDW time while you're down there! Now, get running girl! :cheer2:

Augie~Yeah it is hard to believe March is almost here! I'm glad for it, February is my least favorite month of the year. It's just blah.

Laura~Thanks, yeah I thought about sciatica too. I don't know though. I had sciatica with my pregnancies and this feels different. This pain originates higher up, and closer to the surface of my body. The sciatica felt deeper and lower. I don't know though if sciatica can feel differently.

Emily~So sorry about the ankle! Ouch! I have hit that bone too, it really does hurt. Why does a bone that sticks out like that have to be so sensitive anyway?! lol I am another klutzy one...I am hitting and cutting/scraping my hands constantly on things, and I've hit my head on obvious things in front of other people so many times, it is embarrasing!! That's why running is a good sport for me though, it's just me, with nothing around to bang into. Fortunately, falling down is not something that I do...knock on wood!

Carissa~I didn't know that about your toe. Ouch!

It happened in Australia when Connor was a baby. I don't know why I bothered going to the hospital, but I did. Took Connor along since I couldn't leave him for long. They couldn't do a darn thing for me so a total waste of time.

The instant I stubbed it was extremely painful, but it quickly went numb. And then of course the swelling and bruising over the next week. It took a long, long time before I could wear any sort of non-slip on shoe comfortably.

Glad to hear you're starting to feel better.

I think I did know about that actually. You know how the memory is...

And thanks, me too, I was relieved when it started to feel better yesterday.

Carissa, LOL, ds#4 just saw that treadmill in your signature and got very excited about it. "Hey mom, there's a treadmill!! Did you get that treadmill?!" I didn't know he was into them!

I think I remember telling you about it during one of our long distance phone calls. Remember you used to buy those calling cards and we'd take turns calling? :goodvibes

:rotfl: Well, it IS a very exciting treadmill!! Actually, the one in the picture looks like one that might last for one run tops. I should have made a button with my own treadmill but too much work.
