just checking rates on dollar and plugged in the minivan special. Somehow i now have a reservation confirmed without even giving them any information other than my email and name. No credit card or anything. Is this possible?

They should email you a confirmation number. If you are concerned, call the 800# to confirm your reservation.

Rental car reservations are unlike plane tickets in that you don't pay anything upfront and you can cancel at any time. Therefore, they don't need any personal info or credit card #. The advantage to you is that you can lock in a good rate and the benefit to the rental agency is that they have a rough idea of the volume they can expect on a given day/time at a specific location.
