Looking for our trip in June I see the good rates £458 Jeep 22 days Plat package. Maybe its a summer deal?
Will wait and see if you guys get your bookings confirmed. I hope you all do :goodvibes

A SUV with Platinum cover for £316 for 15 days was too good an offer to miss, so I've just booked one! :lmao: I've had the confirmation email with the voucher...so now I will wait for that second email you got Wayneg.

Seeing as all the other places I looked were asking £400-£500 for the same thing I think it's worth trying at least. If they turn around and say it was a mistake then fine nothing lost...although I think they'd have a hard job getting out of it now we have the confirmation emails?

Thanks for the heads up Wayne. :thumbsup2

I've just booked an SUV for 9 nights in June (for myself & CustardTarts girlie trip,....we shall now be known as Thelma & Louise ;) ) it worked out at £209 which is about the same price we were paying for 3 days car hire & a one way airport transfer. Result! :cool1:

P.S Happy Birthday Wayne! :bday:

*Whispers* Happy Birthday Wayne party:

Had a good old study of the Dollar site last night and no 'reduced prices' for my dates in Feb :sad2:

Never mind, will start from scratch over the weekend and get somat booked :thumbsup2

Ali :goodvibes

OK so now I've had the second email (as expected!) stating that the reservation hasn't been confirmed...hmmm...wonder where they stand legally on that seeing as they have already sent out an confirmation email??

Just have to wait and see what happens next!

Oh and thank you Wayneg for pointing this offer out and Happy Birthday :wizard::cheer2::banana::banana:

I expect the reduced prices are from 1st April, site was already loaded before yesterday upto then, yesterday 1st April and after went live.

Thanks Wayne! Another awesome bargain!!! :worship:

Like Claire says, she's booked the 'Thelma&LouiseMobile' for our June trip at a great price!!! :thumbsup2 And now I've booked a Dodge Caravan for my family October half-term trip at another ludicrous price!!! Come to think of it, those two bookings together are less than half the cost of our 2 weeks car hire in Spain last July!!!

Anyway, thank you again and...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya

First and most important HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!:cake:

Thanks for that link. I just checked for our hol in Oct and its on a discounted deal of the day and for 21 nights fully inclusive its £405 instead of £810

Pity i cant book but will defo look around for car hire instead of just booking flydrives.

thanks for that.

Brilliant post, thank you! Dollar are not my favourite at the moment (but more cross with Airline Network, see my post below) so I am pleased the booking is not going through AN.

Booked 12 seater for 2 days from Tampa drop off Port Canaveral, then Minivan and economy for 10 days from PC to Tampa, all Platinum package for £420.90 in total. Absolute bargain (reckon the 3 tanks of fuel would cost that in this country ;))

Thank you Wayne, and Happy Birthday :goodvibes

Got a qoute for minivan for 14 days in Oct £283 with Plat Ins. This stills seems good. Have read some bad reviews just lately about Dollar - is it going downhill or are they generally OK? ( we've had mixed experiences with them in the past)
I'm thinking that if Wayneg is using them then so will I !:cool1:

In my experience they have gone downhill, the minivans we had this year had 30k+ miles on the clock which is a lot compared to previous years. We had a constant oil light we were told to ignore. Their telephone helpline was hopeless and we spent a lot of time getting our van replaced. In saying that, this price is too good to turn down, and I don't know how the others compare, so overall I think it's worth another shot with them.

:rotfl2: Not used Dollar for just over a year Xmas 08
I have rented once from Alamo 10 years ago, still not forgiven them enough to use again.
5 rentals with Budget, older cars. OK at MCO but could have been better at Port Canaveral & Tampa.
Dollar used about 20 times, so far can't fault at MCO, not as good at Sanford and really bad at LAX. I am sure one day I will have a bad rental with them or they will try the hard sell but not yet.

Trying to book another rental (October 2010) but there are no Platinum rates showing. Tried the same info as bookings I have already made just to check, and still no Platinum prices. Am I being stupid?

Thanks for the pm Wayne.

I was hanging back on this thread....
decided to book it instead....
got a smart Dodge Minivan....
when we pick it up it better be spik and span....
£350 Platinum rate....
sounds good, in fact I think it's great....
saved a few quid....
that will please Joshua our little kid....
this offer is a dream come true....
Julie will be pleased as that means she can come too....

Cheers buddy and happy birthday too it seems ;)

no your not being stupid when i looked for ours in Oct it was only with flly inc, i couldnt see platinum at all. Or could it be that we are both stupid? :lmao:

It's showing as an option now on the booking I have already made, but not the new booking?! Oh well, I think we can manage without it, too good a price to miss out on. Glad it wasn't just me though!

As for the 2 email thing. I just see it as they have sent the emails in the wrong order....

The email we have all received 2nd says that we have to wait for the confirmation. The 1st email we all recieved was the confirmation. I don't see an issue. It is the confirmation/vouncher that you need which we all now have...!

Thanks again Wayneg for psoting this - you have saved us about £600 for our two trips later this year.

There were definitely Platinum prices up there this morning as the car I booked for our October trip was with platinum insurance :confused3
I'll go and have a look if I get the same results now and report back :goodvibes
