Dogs allowed?

Dean is absolutely right. One of the problems I have when traveling to dog shows is that if you want to find a hotel that will allow pets, they usually will only allow them in smoking rooms. I totally understand this, but it isn't much good for me since the smoke residue is a big issue for me. Unless it is too cold or too hot, I usually don't plan on taking my show dogs into hotel rooms. I'd much rather leave them in the comfort of their own van or the show site if weather doesn't permit being left in the van.

For those of you who think you MUST take your dog on vacation (although, I must admit I can't figure out why), the WDW kennesl are very nice and are staffed, even if they wont walk the dogs. The two times we used the kennels when we were combining WDW with dog shows, we found them to be more than adequate for our champions, so I am sure they would be adequate for anyone's pet also.

it about the fact that people do have allergies to pets and that breaking the rules is selfish and can have consequences for the next guest.

I guess the same logic replies to smokers smoking in non-smoking rooms. Anyway, just to update - Well, just got back from BCV and out trip. Regarding the dog issue, I should probably let you know that the dog in question weighs only 2 pounds. Not figuratively or hypothetically, the creature actually only weighs two lbs. People visiting thier dogs at the kennel and returning to thier room would have more sheading, hairs, etc. than this little dog actually staying in the room. Secondly, my parents didn't end up bringing thier tiny little dog, so the problem was averted. I must confess that if they did, I'm not sure I would have challenged them to keep thier tiny little dog in the kennel instead of our room, but the point is moot now.

Interesting discussion. It gave me points that I could have raised in the discussion if it came to that point, although I'm not sure I would have pushed. I thought there was a chance they would show up with thier animal.

Diane - I have never been in a smoking room. WHen I ask for a pet allowed rooms - I definitely say non-smoking.

Tobacco (all types) is my worst allergy - by far - except dust mities. I can't be in a smoking room PERIOD.

even at WDW - I can get ashama from smokers.

My dust mities is probably a 10 on your scale. I go to an allergist - when they put that in me I smell up about 5 inches - it is bad then they have to give me that silly shot to convert act it.

Go see an allergiest - for years I saw a nose and throat person - bad move - very bad move. My allergist got me over the worst of it. Now I have only the dust mites, mold, mildew, food and drug allergiest - that they say the curse is worst.

I use to sick 24 hours 7 days a week and I wasn't getting better. My allergiest (before he retired) worked wonders. Work was about to put me on disability. Because even when I came in I was so sick. I crazyed a bunch of people.

Anyway there is hope out there - just get the right doctor!!!!

While it may not affect the ultimate outcome, smoke exposure is an irritant and not an allergen in most cases.

I am allergic to dogs and would be quite disappointed to have dogs on property. But, I do understand the love people have for their pets and their desire to have them on vacation. My mom won't go on vacation because she can't take her dog. So, no DVC for her. She would never think of putting her in a kennel, she thinks she would get too lonely. I secretly think that she is the one who would be lonely, not her pet.
