Does your neighborhood have.....

Our town does and he already has made his rounds twice now. Kinda funny to see the kids running a block away to catch the van that will eventually make it near their house.

We have one. I've never really paid much attention to him, but I hear the music every evening when the weather is right.

Yes. It's actually an ice cream woman though ;) . We've only seen her once so far this year and that was about 8:00 one night. Too late for us.

No ice cream truck in these hills of Vermont.

Funny story though, growing up in New York we had a ice cream truck that went by, must of been around 1975 or so. My two sisters and I would be patiently waiting at the end of our driveway for him to appear. He would go blowing by us and finally stop about 5 blocks down. We used to get a kick out of it. Now that I'm an adult, Dad told me it was because he was a drunk!!:earseek:

To top it off....one day us three girls in our cute little dresses and pigtails were waiting at the end of our driveway and here he comes blowing his horn and instead of stopping he just threw three ice cream bars out his window at us:earseek:

I still have nightmares to this day about that;) ;) ;)

We do, but it's one of the only neighborhoods I've lived in that has. I have yet to buy anything from him/her/it so I can't profess to their level of scariness =)

One of these days I'll actually have some cash and buy some!

Ours does and I love the bubble gum popsicles! I can never seem to find them anywhere, so when he comes around I usually buy them all from him and keep them in my freezer for later.

We do. When I was younger we use to get bubble gum and ice cream. Now I don't think my mom would allow me to even at the age of 24. The guy looks creepy.

Once Memorial day comes around we will have ours back. We have some kind of turf war going on here with ours. Kind of like don't walk on my street corner sort of thing. So somtimes they are missing for a few days...
When they are here its 6pm. Good for us right after dinner my kids eat at 5pm. Most of the others eat later. I can not tell you how many times, I have paid him $20 for every kid who was told no and lined up with me and ordered and left. NOw I am very clear. He actually stops at the end of my driveway, he knows I am a sap!!! And I point out. This kid, this kid and this kid. And thats all I am buying for. If he passes it to them with no money, I am not covering it anymore. when I wa sspending $80 a week. I had to put a stop to it.:earseek:

We do and I have a funny story.

My boys, 8 & 5 are obsessed with it. We were in the backyard a couple weeks ago. DS, 5, went in the house. Next thing I know he is coming back in the yard carrying 2 treats from the ice cream truck. He knew instantly that Mom was going to be mad and so he started to cry. Turns out, the 8 yo told him to go get money from his bank & buy them both ice cream. So he did it! Went out to the street, by himself, and walked right up to the ice cream truck.

They both got a VERY stern lecture about stranger danger/safety.... Made the 8 yo pay his brother back.

It's going to be a long summer..............

Ours does. :) My boys love the ice cream man (and I sorta do too. :p )

And here I thought I was the only one with a creepy after-dark ice cream truck! In my last neighborhood we had one who came around at about 9:30 p.m. and the music coming from the truck was so warped it was like being in a Nightmare on Elm Street movie. In my current neighborhood, the ice cream man comes out at the normal time and stays parked outside of the bookstore until very late. He plays that really obnoxious ice cream man song.

And we did also have one (only during the summer) in Louisiana when I was younger, too, although there we were more likely to go to a shave-ice stand. So, your husband's expectations might be realistic.

Yup! One time when I was younger me, my sister, and a friend gave him some flowers and got a free popsicle!!!!! :D :D

We live in a rural town (the understatement of the year!:p ) and we have an ice cream man that comes to our subdivision every weekend at about 6:00.

We used to.. but I don't recall the ice cream man/truck coming by last summer. Hmm, we were gone a lot though- maybe we missed him? LOL

I have never seen one around here.

Of course it may be an HOA thing here too - the people that get bent out of shape when kids draw on their driveways with sidewalk chalk would probably really lose it if an ice cream truck cruised the neighborhood.
:faint:

We have an ice cream man. I don't think he's creepy, and he sure doesn't come after dark.

Yup, we have an ice cream man. I never get anything from him as he always comes right before dinner and I mean like 10 minutes before. Did have them once and I thought the products he sold were terrible and the kids threw their's away, what's the point?

Um. Let's just say I had only heard about the ice cream man in books, until I had dinner at my stepdad's house when he and my mom were still dating. At that point I was 12, and it was the first time I'd ever seen an ice cream truck in my life. Still no ice cream man here in my neighborhood, but then again mine isn't a stereotypical neighborhood either. Most of the houses can't be seen from the road, so the driver wouldn't see any kids coming anyway.
