No, my neighborhood was built post WWII and was promoted as cheap housing for the returning men & women. They were built on slab on a assembly line type method and were very small.
You must live in my old neighborhood town!
Our new house has both a basement and a crawl space.
I grew up in a house with a basement. Loved, LOVED, LOVED it. When it rained we could go down there and roller skate, ride bikes, anything we did outside.
DH grew up in a house without a basement and when we went bought our first house refused to look at houses that had basements because everyone knows they all leak and get water. Well, after seeing that my parents' basement never leaked or got flooded, when we bought the new house, one of his requirements was that it had a basement.
Shame that our kids are grown and never got to "enjoy" rainy days in the basement.
