Does your Guide call you at WDW??

NO! Thank goodness.

I don't believe in the "My guide loves me" view. Guides are salespeople. I don't want to be sold anything else LOL! They are calling to remind you they are available to SELL.
My guide is great. He returns my calls quickly and does what I want done.....that's all I expect!

Our guide left us a voice mail and said he hoped we were having a great stay, etc., etc. Then he mentioned how he was available if we wanted any info while we were there on the "newest addition to the Disney Vacation Club family of resorts, Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort....".:rolleyes1

We took it for what it was - a sales call. We didn't mind though, we figure he's just doing his job - trying to sell more points. Why not take a chance when your members are back in town, odds are that sooner or later someone will bite and he'll have another sale.;)

I have spoken to or had messages from my guide, Judy Kaufman most of my trips since I purchased in 1999.

Our guide left us a message when we were at VWL in Jan. He wished us a great trip & said if we needed anything to let him know. He didn't mention taking a tour or anything about BLT or AKV add-ons. I wouldn't consider that a sales call, but that's just me.

Nope. We have never talked to him on the phone. We signed the papers at WDW. My memory often fails me, but I believe it was at OKW. Anyway... we get his personal inserted name when they are sending out promotional materials.

Actually, I'm with Carol A... I don't want any phone calls while on vacation. Unexpected phone calls cause me a few moments of dread or fear.

our first guide always did..she was so sweet....they she left DVC :sad2: and we haven't heard anything at all from our new guide

It's interesting to know why we were assigned that particular guide. Thanks!

But the comment about him having nothing to do with it, is regarding the add-on that we are planning. We had never even spoken with him or received any mail or email from him. We have just researched on our own and decided to add-on, which we will do at the Doorway to Dreams event next week. I just wonder if he gets something from that. It's fine if he does, I don't care. I was just impressed that other people have much more involved guides.

I purchased BCV while on board DCL when sales first began. My regular Guide received partial credit, as did the Guide on board ship. I believe it is the same for Doorway to Dreams split sales as well.

It is nice that some folks hear from the Guides unsolicited, but keep in mind there are some states that strictly prohibit the Guide initiating contact to someone unless they have called or contacted first.

I don't expect to hear from my Guide unless he has been made aware by me that I am in the market for another purchase. Some of them have thousands of clients which would be impossible to call unless specifically seeking to make another purchase.

We will be at Doorway to Dreams next Saturday!

I haven't heard from my guide since the day we walked out of the preview center at BW as new DVC members. Kind of disappointing, but we'll get over it. We'll probably do a tour of BLT and AKV models when we take our next trip, so I'll probably put a call into him before we go to set something up.

We did get a phone call/message last year just welcoming us and a suggestion that we can come in if we need to do a quick add on;) . But we have been to Disney 3 times after that and we didn't receive a message. I was going to call him back to say hi but I kept forgetting (when I did remember, we were out the door and headed to the parks). When we got home, I forgot all about it. So I figured when he called again on our next vacation, that I would just call him back to let him know that we got the message. But it's been 3 vacations and we haven't had any messages from him. I felt bad, I think it was rude of me not to even acknowledge his message.

Just wondering? For those who get these messages, do you call them back?

Have had two over many years. The only time I have ever talked to my guide is during the sale process, including add-ons. That is actually fine by me. And I suspect my first one retired to Hawaii based on my purchases.

Yep, we get a call every time. I rather appreciate and enjoy it. We're never 'home' when the call comes, but it's nice to hear it on the answering machine.

Exactly!

Get a call from my guide when I'm at WDW - you've got to be kidding. I've bought resale twice and did add ons through my guide twice. I can barely get a return call when I leave my guide a message indicating that I want to spend money.

Have never gotten a call in 10 years. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

Nope. Our guide has never called us. I kind of get the impression that since we didn't buy from him and bought resale after taking the tour, that we're not as "important". I could be totally off, but that's how I feel.

Ditto...initially we went resale also, after taking the tour. However, after two add-ons there should have been at least one phone call or e-mail (nothing from our guideless guide!)

Our guide is Ron Brumbaugh and he has called and left a message for us on the resort room phone every trip since we purchased. I think it's great. There is never any sales tone in his message, just a "welcome home" and "have a great vacation". I think it's a nice touch.

I would not call them back because it would most likely go to their voicemail and you have a phone tag going. I don't think they are looking for conversation; just keeping their name out there if you want to add on.

The contract you purchased via resale was an original contract that someone else had purchased from DVC through an assigned Guide. That is why you are assigned to that particular Guide.

We bought resale and were assigned to the guide from the tour. A couple months later I got a call and letter from someone else saying they are my guide. Then I got a postcard from guide # 1.

Have I been assigned to both--one because of the tour and one because of the original contract?

He would have done everything required for the original sale as any other Guide does, so yes he definitely had something to do with it.

wow, what are the odds of this happening-
I contacted WDW to send me info on DVC awhile back, a salesman calls me and wanted to see what's up and see if i want to buy. I told him i'll think about it. Then i learned about TSS 2 months later and bought from them. Two weeks after the closing, the same salesman calls me back and told me he is now my guide and that why didn't i just purchase from him since they were offering a discount and no closing cost and that it would have been the same price. I felt so bad when he called and i thought I can pick any guide i wanted. But i did call him to add on BLT :)

Yes not every trip but 2x she did:goodvibes I have Nelida...forgot her last name.
