Does your Guide call you at WDW??

When we bought, our guide Ray Collier asked how much "interaction" we wanted, and he has respected our wishes. We get the usual DVC mailing with his name inserted, but no phone calls like we asked. So, no phone calls for us either, like we requested.

We have gotten a message from ours, I don't recall if it is every time or not. I think it is a nice and appreciated touch.

I know we got voice mails from our guide on our first 2 trips but I don't think he called on our LAST trip. I don't remember getting a message anyway. Could be that he was off on vac. at the same time? Maybe? Could happen.:confused3 I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on it anyway.

Honestly though, I'd rather get all these emails & mailings that I read about here on the DIS than worry about getting a "welcome home" message from our guide while we're down there.

We usually get a call, but it's always been a voicemail message.

No and it makes me really mad. We bought and have traveled numerous times and never heard a peep from him. But boy, when I called to add on, he called me back right away! If we add on again, I am asking for a different guide. I don't think that if my guide calls me he "loves" me. But it does show a little attention to detail that a lot of people appreciate. I appreciate a little attention after spending all that money.

Just wondering how often the salesperson you bought your car from calls you, except to see if you want another car. Maybe your realestate agent calls often to see how you are.. If you call either of these they will call you back "right away" it's their job and they are doing it proffesionally. If you need someone to call to see how you are that's what friends and family are for. We do get a card now and then from our salesperson but that's to let us know of a deal upcomming event. When we have called he retutrns our calls promptly, once from a hospital bed. This is the proffesional relationship I expect, generally my kids call to see how we are and how our vacation is going. I get enough unwanted calls from salepeople when I'm home trying to relax :confused3

We usually get a call from our guide Karen Guyder when we visit WDW since 1999. I appreciate it because I know she is taking time away from possible new sales when she is making a call to a previous client. Yes, we have added on twice since our initial purchase so there is a potential for a add on again. I think it is a nice touch even though we have never acutally been in the room when she has called. I think this is the mark of great customer service which we all seem to expect from Disney but complain when we don't get it.

We got a call from someone else's guide while we were at VWL last July. It was their first trip home, and I have to admit it made me envious. We NEVER get calls from ours! I left it on the phone, but don't know if the rightful folks got to hear it.

We have only used our DP so far (3 times) and we have yet to receive a call. Quite frankly, I really don't think I want anyone keeping tabs on when I am at WDW. Believe me if I get add-onitis, he will know.

Well, my real estate agent is my sister so yes, she does call to see how I am doing.

But I just think it is good customer service for a guide to welcome their members home. That is all. I am not looking for a lengthy conversation with him. Just a nice welcome home. It shows that he appreciates all the money I have spent. Without us (colective us), they don't make money and they DO work in customer service. That is just how I feel.

The contract you purchased via resale was an original contract that someone else had purchased from DVC through an assigned Guide. That is why you are assigned to that particular Guide.

We bought resale and were assigned to the guide from the tour. A couple months later I got a call and letter from someone else saying they are my guide. Then I got a postcard from guide # 1.

Have I been assigned to both--one because of the tour and one because of the original contract?

wow, what are the odds of this happening-
I contacted WDW to send me info on DVC awhile back, a salesman calls me and wanted to see what's up and see if i want to buy. I told him i'll think about it. Then i learned about TSS 2 months later and bought from them. Two weeks after the closing, the same salesman calls me back and told me he is now my guide and that why didn't i just purchase from him since they were offering a discount and no closing cost and that it would have been the same price. I felt so bad when he called and i thought I can pick any guide i wanted. But i did call him to add on BLT :)

In my case, I had purchased direct thru Disney and had my own Guide when I purchased resale several years later. I retained my original Guide, not the one assigned to the resale contract.

But, for those who are not already assigned a Guide, they will receive the Guide attached to the original contact when purchasing via resale.

Our guide Nelida Mora called when we were at WDW and DLR GCH. We appreciated the contact. She also knows that when we are ready we'll add on.

Ours did also on two occasions. (Gib McCain)
He left very nice messages and told us to stop by and see him if we had a chance, because we had never met him in person. We did stop by when we were staying at SSR, but he was out of the office.
I do think that it is a nice personal touch!:goodvibes

But I dont think he got anything from us winning? I dont know if he made a commission at all......

He's probably hoping that at some point you'll want to buy some more points to add on to the points you won so more family and friends can come visit WDW with you. JMHO

Our guide always leaves us a message in our resort upon check in. He's a nice guy, but we know why he's really calling;) .

my first guide never called us - but our new one does. (We dumped #1, with some difficulty, for non-performance.)

We've never had a call from our guide while on vacation but in Dec 08 we did swing by the SSR sales place and deliver our christmas card in person rather than mail it to him. He was really pleased to see us and loved the card - he remembered the previous year card with our picture with Minnie at DLRP - said his wife loved it! He also showed us the new BLT model (I really wanted to see it so I was happy about this) and we chatted along easily and when I said I really wanted to add on BLT when we could he told us to take our time. He never rushes us on any of our purchases. He even left us in the ice-cream parlour so my Father could enjoy the treat!

Our guide usually calls us just to tell us to have a nice vacation. I've never been there when he called, so maybe they can send a message directly to voice mail. In any case, I always appreciate the call.

This may sound like a silly question but, how does the guide know you've booked a DVC stay? My first trip home is in August so I'm just curious how my guide is kept in the loop.

Our guide (Doug Rapp) went above and beyond for us. When we added on to AKV with the gift card incentive, we planned at trip for shortly after so what he did was bring our gift card to us at the BC on his on personal time! He also does call from time to time when we are there to make sure everything is alright. We also stop in to say hello as well!

Guide? That guy that sold us our contract? Haven't heard a peep from him except for some form letters offering us more stuff to buy. His job is done and he moved along to the next sale.
In related news, the guy that sold me my car never calls either, fortunately.
