The day I check in RPR will be my  big 40. At Disney for bdays we have gotten cards in the room, balloons and even an upgrade. Does Universal have that magic?

I've heard some wonderful stories of things Universal has done.

did you have that notation put on your ressie?

that you are there to celebrate your 40th bd?

remind them when you check in.

ask for turn down service and then ask will you receive any amenities for your big day.

Magic - Never!!!! Mummy dust however may be spread on you and great things may (or may not) happen.

It's hit or miss. We have celebrated a few special occasions at Universal. Nothing for our honeymoon, not even a good room. A gift for a birthday. Go figure. Go in not expecting anything; be surprised if you do get something.

When we don't get anything, it doesn't bug me. I often wonder how many other people are celebrating a birthday or honeymoon. Bound to happen that someone gets overlooked.

No mummy dust sprinkled here.
It would be nice as it has always happened on our stays onsite over on the Disney side of the street, but we don't expect it so it's "no biggie" as my DD would say ;)

gee, just the opposite for me at disney.
i have stayed on site there yearly since 1993 and no magic people talk about.

in fact, i usually have trouble when i check out there as i find charges on my bill that are there in error.

but i still go to both parks. i don't go expecting something from either park.

We have been lucky at both resorts but so far, the Disney magic was for small stuff whereas the mummy dust has been for major upgrades - first to club status for a five night stay and the following year to a hospitality suite for a five night stay.

As I said - it's no problem, we look on it as a bonus.

I think the surly check in lady at HRH who didn't even wish my daughter 'happy birthday' set the tone. I don't expect freebies, but a little friendliness goes a long way :)

Still rather stay onsite at USF than WDW now though - that fotl sure is a deal breaker :thumbsup2

With all of the pomp and pixie dust I was told would get lavished on my daughter at our Disney Resort because it was her birthday.....we were a little let down that this is all we got......

Meanwhile this is the second year that we got a nice surprise from the HRH for my daughter's birthday of a complimentary in room movie and all these goodies.....

That is my point exactly. When I booked the stay and noted Court's birthday, I was told she would get a card, some balloons, etc - glad I didn't play it up too much. We got a pin for Kait last minute as we were right smack between the two girls birthdays. When we added the Disney portion to our trip - we told court we were celebrating her birthday there - she was good with that :thumbsup2 Especially since we got to hang with her favorites:

At Disney, my son got nothing while at AKL. Through the parks, CMs would wish him a happy birthday and he did get the special decorations at Crystal Palace. That's about it though.

We will be celebrating our 7th anniversary at the HRH. I don't expect much, but will always be happy with some mummy dust...especially if it's in the form of Brendan Fraser...

I celebrated my birthday at HRH in 2007 and when my son asked reservations what could be done as a special touch they asked him how much he wanted to spend.I received a fruit cheese and wine basket but my son paid for it nothing was supplied by HRH which was fine with me because I was there to enjoy not get freebies.
