We are staying at the Poly with my in laws. I requested that their room be close to ours, but.......I don't want to be right next to them or have connecting rooms. I like my privacy and don't want them right with us the WHOLE 7 days. Is there a chance that they will give us connecting rooms at check in? If so how do I say that I don't want to be that close without offending my in laws?:confused3

I think you are asking about connecting rooms. They have the door between the room. Adjoining would be next to the room.

Adjoining is next to each other, no connecting door. Connecting rooms have a inside connecting door. That aside.

Are your rooms on the same reservation or linked together, if so you are going to get close to each other more than likely.

You can contact Disney reservations and ask to be in different buildings but be prepared for them to possibly find out. These things have a tendacy to back fire.

For example a friend asked to be seperated from family due to rowdy kids. When they all checked in, the family with the rowdy kids asked why they were so far away from the other family member and the CM looked at the screen and said, "because your sister wanted to be".

Sorry, I couldn't remember what that was called with the door between the rooms! Anyways, that's what I was afraid of, that the CM would say something when we check in. We aren't on the same reservation, but I think they may be linked because I make all of the changes for both of us. I don't mind the same building, I just don't want to be close enough to hear through the walls!:rolleyes1

I'm staying at the Poly in Aug. and I asked for connecting rooms. The woman on the reservation line said hopefully they would try to get us in the same building!

Well you know that since you really want them, you won't get them and the OP not wanting them, will. Seems that always happens.;)

Our first time at the Poly, we had my parents with us and my DDs were young. We wanted connecting rooms because the girls wanted to sleep with "grandma and grandpa's room" some nights and my parents babysat a couple nights. We asked for connecting rooms and got connecting rooms.

Our second time to Poly, DDs were older, I asked for connecting rooms again, but we got adjoining rooms.

If you really want a connecting rooms, send a fax to the Poly a week or so before you arrive with a note saying the reason you want the connecting rooms. When I made the request the first time, I said I had 2 young daughters that my parents would be watching periodically and it would be easier if we had connecting rooms. The second time I didn't send a fax just had a note on our reservations.
