Does terrorism threat affect your plans?

Just think of it like this.........if your chips are up they are up! Tomorrow you could get knocked down by a bus or a plank could fall on your head.........if time's up for you it's up and there's nothing you can do about it! So enjoy life to the full because you just don't know what tomorrow holds for you. Take chances, run risks, fall in love, fall out of love, life is precious......!

We took our kids to England and Scotland in November - and we were in WDW in November of 2001. I can't say I didn't consider terrorism but it didn't scare me enough to change my plans. I take my kids to NYC whenever I can (I live in Boston so it is only a 45 minute flight.) Don't think I would be planning a trip to Egypt any time soon though....

Not to get too "touchy, feely" but has your husband spoken to a therapist about his own experience on 9/11? I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been to have been in the air that day. It is easy for *me* to step on an airplane but I was safe at home with my kids that day. I really don't know how I would feel if I had been personally involved in something so horrible.

Nope,

It's never affected any of our plans and we are way "across the pond".

Yes, security, check-in and immigration takes a bit longer than before but that's how things have to be.

I can't think of anything that'll keep us away!

:wave2:

Just returned from a trip and had no problems. Wonderful flights both ways (delta ny to vegas). Shame on anyone for being afraid - your missing out on a lot if you let fear be your decision maker. You are definately in the minority as the flights were sold out. The airports are busy and safe........everyone is going some where. Nothing to be afraid of.

You only go around once, and if you do it scared then you did it wrong. It would be a worse fate to be old feeling that I missed out than to have a good time and enjoy while I can.

Our family's 1st trip to The World was Oct 6-13, 2001. We gave it a few minutes thought, and decided to still go. We figured, with the amount of airplanes that take off on any given day, the chance of our flight being "targeted" would be slim. Yes, paid a little more attention(or maybe alot)to those around us, but we went, had a great time, and DIDN'T LET THEM WIN!!!

Last year before we left on our vacation to Washington DC, my then 11 yr old DD asked "But won't the terrorists bomb us?? Are you sure we should go?"
I answered "They say terrorists are threatening Disney World, should we never visit there again?"
Both daughters howled "NO!!! We have to go to Disney!"
(and the older DD then explained about not letting terrorists win)

Dang - I swear I didn't hit the submit button 3times!!

I have been a travel agent for 9 yrs now. Due to 9/11, the internet and several other factors, my business has taken a major hit. However, nothing has hurt us like 9/11 attacks did. I had several families w/plans for Disney, cruises, and other destinations to call and cancel. Of course in those situations the tour companies worked w/people and allowed reschedules and in some cases get a refund. Flying is a little spooky to begin w/but when you take into consideration terrorist attacks, it's harder to sell. Personally I haven't let 9/11 stop me from flying when I wanted to. DH & I flew to Key West just 6 weeks after the attacks and had a great experience. Like someone else said we were cautious of some people but we went anyway. My DH and several other men on the plan told our flight attendant if she had any problems out of anyone, just to let them know and they'd help her out. Of course nothing stands up to guns but the security was really tight....making me feel ALOT better. Don't let those creeps stop you from having a great time. When God is ready for you to come home, you'll go. Whether you're flying, riding in a car, or sitting in your house on the computer, when your time is up, it's up. ENJOY LIFE~~

I agree don't let them win but also lets all remember they are real and its everyone responsibility to be alert to the threat so it only remains a threat :earsboy:

I absolutely agree with that highlander. It makes sense to be vigilant in touristy places.
