does it really matter what Home resort you choose?

Once your little bundle of joy starts school you will be restricted to going to WDW over the summer (busy), spring break (really busy) or Christmas break (really, really busy). You will want to have a WDW resort at the very least because some of those times will fill up even before the 7-month window.

Again so during busy times, book at your WDW HOME DVC at the 11 mo window. My point is, how much do you care where your home resort is? I am usually just thrilled to be at WDW. All the DVC's are great!!

And I think that point is the key to anyone deciding where to buy. If any resort does it for you (and in your case it does!), then buying with cost it mind is really really smart.

If any resort would provide disappointment (and in my case, it would), then choose a place that you would be happy staying at 100% of time.

And, all that is mute if you can't book more than 7 months out.

Exactly!

Right, but what if your home resort is VB or HH? That's why I said that at the very least the OP should buy a WDW resort.

We love to go at NYE we we really, really, REALLY like being able to walk back to my villa at Boardwalk after the big NYE fireworks. No fighting traffic or waiting for a bus ... just a leisurely stroll back to our villa and then we sit on our boardwalk view porch and watch the boats ferry people home and to the Studios. There would be NO WAY I could be a boardwalk view if I didn't own at BWV and it's unlikely that I would even get anything at BWV or BCV for that really really busy week between Christmas and New Years at the 7-month window. That's why we own at BWV. We own at AKV for a similar reason. We love being able to book on the concierge floor.

Sadly, I am not as easily thrilled as you are ;). I have been a DVC member for a really long time and I want to stay where I purchased.

I want to stay at all of them but had to make a choice for my home resort. I weighed the pros and cons and chose SSr because of the low resale point values and the moderate dues. The most difficult spot to get at Disney is probably the treehouse villas which i know we will use a lot. I don't care too much where i stay as long as i'm staying with Disney.

If buying at the least expensive resort was a good idea, then no one would buy anywhere else. What will you do if Disney decides to change the rules on booking non-home reservations?

If you really don't care, and will never care where you stay, then it makes sense to save some money.

with all the changes over last year or so, who knows what will happen, good advice!

The only time it matters is if you want to stay at a specific resort during a busy time like when school is out. You have a new baby, so it won't effect you for a few years. Just to show you how hard it can be, I booked a 1BR at BWV for mid-August at the 11 month window. My daughter wanted to stay at BCV and I spaced out the 7-month window and called 3 weeks into it at 6 months, 1 week. In those 3 weeks BCV was completely sold out and I am on the waitlist.

even mid August when i'd expect slower demand due to many kids going back to school:eek:good luck on WL!

i was surprised to find only studio open (Sun thru Thurs) week of 1/2 marathon/before Columbus day @ BLT was LV @ 9 am 7 month mark!
