Does FP+ reserve like ADR's?

I am trying to read up on the FP+ rules and am so confused!?!
Does FP+ work like ADR's-Does each day need to be done one at a time as you hit the 60 day window or can you do all the FP+'s for the whole trip when your check-in date hits the 60 day window like ADR's??
We are planning a trip the end of September and I also want to know-do I need to stay up until after midnight and secure the FP's we want the first seconds of the 60 day window? or is there a little time? We do hope to get Anna and Elsa and the Mine Train so any advice would be appreciated!!
Also just considered that we are planning a split stay in the resorts so we will have two separate reservation numbers. The tickets will be linked to both reservations so if the whole trip of FP's can be booked at one time will that apply to us or will I have "2" separate 60 days windows for each reservation even though the tickets will be the same?

When staying onsite, you can book at 60 days for the length of your trip. Most FP will have availability for awhile, the ones that will book the quickest are A&E, 7DMT, and then the parades and fireworks when they become available. As far as if you need to book at midnight, I'm not sure. I know I did when I booked A&E, but I also booked them just after the FP opened for them to meet in MK and I'm not sure if it has changed since then.

I am reading more about FP+ reservations with DVC split stays and getting nervous! I actually read one post about a family that lost all their FP+ ressies for the second leg of the trip when they checked out of the first reservation!! Has anyone had experience with that?
