Does the Boat Shuttle Still run from POR to DTD whenever it rains?
We will be there next week and the weather does not look good
at all. We will be thinking of inside things to do. :confused3

If it is raining without any hint of lightning, the boats will run. But if there is lightning in the area, boats will not run. As one of the captains mentioned to us last week, metal + water + lightning = a bad outcome.

Thanks, that's understandable.
How was the weather for you last week?

Keep in mind:
Rain does not necessarily mean all day.
Rain does not necessarily mean everywhere on Disney property (at least, not at the same time).
If it does rain, Downtown Disney is only slightly less of an outdoor activity than AK or MGM (thinking open space vs. closeness of buildings - and it will be crowded).

Oh, and the most important one: a prediction of rain does not necessarily mean rain (Meteorology: The only career in which one can consistently be wrong and still keep one's job ;))

We're hoping for the best.
My DS wants to go to DQ the day after we arrive so
I thought that will be good if it rains.
Has anyone taken the bus from POR to DTD?
How long does it take compared to the Boat from POR?
so that we can have a backup plan. Thanks

If it’s raining, take the bus. Based on recent information here, the boat will drop you at the Rainforest end of Downtown Disney. You would then need to either wait for a boat to the WestSide (if it's running at that time of day), or walk, or walk out to the bus stop and ride to the Pleasure Island/WestSide stop and walk from there.

Just a little FYI:
We were on a boat from POR to DTD on our trip last Sept when it started to rain. We "held up" on the stop at PO-FQ for a little bit. Then a single streak of lightening went by. The boat captain said we all had to leave the boat (which makes sense) and that once there is lightening, they cannot run the boats until there is 45 minutes of lightening free skies. So, if you are on the boat and it does lightening, you are going to be left off at the next stop and you will need to use the buses to get wherever you're going, unless of course you are willing to wait on shore for 45 minutes.
