I was just curious if Disney compensates when people are on a ride and it breaks down. I would think NO since they have so many parks and therefore so many chances of this happening that they just couldn't. OR do they compensate if you've been inconvenienced for a certain period of time--like an hour +?
I know somebody knows the 411 on this--Robo?

We were in the parks in Dec '06 and never once encountered a ride that was malfunctioning but when we were there last wk for 3 days we encountered MANY shutdowns and malfunctions. In the MK alone, 7 different rides stopped (SplahM 2 hrs, most just 15 min) We thought it was interesting and that sparked a discussion. My hubby says that Dis is so great they they compensate for malfunctions. (if your stuck ON the ride) I say no way, not for the minor ones anyway.
What do you say?

Last year we got stuck in TTA and Disney compensated everyone with a Fastpass to use in ANY attraction.

Seriously...:confused3 .... Seriously!?:rotfl:

It's at the point where I'm convinced that people think they deserve "compensation" for almost anything...:confused3

I never have been. I've been on both IASW and POTC (both DL and WDW) and had to be evacuated (not in the ride vehicles).

I don't know what the policy is.

We were stuck in the Hefflelump and Woozle room on Pooh for about 30 minutes one time, and we were given fastpasses good for any attraction. We didn't expect anything, but it was a nice gesture.

We were waiting in line for the peter pan ride and were almost to the ride about 6 people away, we had waited in line for over and hour and they gave us all fastpasses to use on any attraction, I was suprised to recieve anything, it was a great gesture

I dont think it is a matter of deserving but it is a nice token for WDW to give out the fastpasses to those who got stuck on a ride.

We were also stuck on the Winnie the Pooh ride for about 15 minutes. We each got 2 FPs (8 total) and a set of 2 trading pins they said could not be bought in Disney. We did not expect anything and it was a nice surprise.;)

Sometimes, if you get stuck on ride and it has to be evacuated, they will give you a Fastpass good for any attraction in that paticular park. But really, I think it all depends on the discretion of the manager for that area. Sometimes, if they can get the ride back up in few minutes they will let you ride again if you want and you can just go to the front of the line and get back on.

I for one have never heard of any kind of monetary compensation for a ride breakdown, i.e. your ticket for that day refunded.

I have heard of people being comped clothes and stuff if a ride breaks and messes up their clothes or something similar. One time, when Timekeeper was still there, the Timekeeper blew a hose in his hand and sprayed hydraulic fluid all over the people in the first row. Disney gave them new clothes and payed to have their clothes that they were wearing cleaned and delivered back to their rooms.

We were stuck on POTC for about a half hour last fall. They finally let us off and gave us fastpasses to be used in the MK. They were good for a couple of days.

We were in line at Kali River Rapids for well over an hour and a half and we were just about to get on when they told us the ride was closed. At that moment I had "Disney rage". I didn't make a scene but inside I was royally POed. Nothing was offered. Looking back I think it would have been a nice gesture to get an FP, but I can see that would have been hard because there was a lot of people affected.

We got stuck on the jungle cruise last year. The boar in front of us broke down. They had to get everyone in front of it out and they could send in a tow boat to pull it. We ended up getting a fast pass for any other ride.

I can attest to that actually as they replaced my clothes for just such an occurance at the Timekeeper, heck maybe THAT occurance you mentioned. I loved the Timekeeper so I wasn't even upset but the stuff did stink despite being a clear jelly like substance.

I would imagine if RnRC stopped and you were in the spiral, especially inverted, for a prolonged period they would do things to be very nice to you.

We have gotten fastpasses for getting stuck on Splash Mountain. Didn't expect them, it was nice.

Oh and about nine years ago we all got new shirts when dd fell off a brick wall in front of Prime time cafe and split open her face. She got blood all over DH, me and herself. We were quickly handed new sweatshirts and were told to change immediately. And then we got a ride to the ER. It was cool to see how the CMs get in and out of MGM.
She still has a small scar on her cheek I call her permanent souvenir.

I was stuck on Space Mountain for about 15-20 minutes. We got to ride again with no wait. But for those smaller breakdowns 5-10 minutes, they do not compensate.

I would think a company as large as Disney has wording in place somewhere to cover their behinds for any inconvenience - something like "enter at your own risk" in fine print!

And for anyone who would think they were entitled to monetary compensation for a ride breaking down is nuts if you ask me. Do they get compensated when there's a traffic jam & they have to sit for hours? Do they get compensated in the grocery line when it's a mile long & then the guy in front on you needs some sort of clearance, and 10 price checks, then has no money, then the register breaks down? Sure we'd all be really mad & frustrated but it's life. It happens everywhere, all the time. Get over it & move on!

DS & I got stuck in HM for about 15 min. last year & I actually thought it was really cool to just hang out in there & see every single detail of what was around us. Now had it been longer I would have been getting ansty, but really, I understand that it can happen.

Space Mountain broke down when I was in line once. The ride had to be completely reset so the lights came on and all that fun stuff. They gave the maybe 25 people in line a Baby Swap pass to use to ride again. I never ended up using it.

I would say that with a simple ride breakdown, absent some sort of injury or property damage, the best you'd get is a fastpass.

Got a MK-wide fastpass once for having to walk off the Haunted Mansion but I would have paid them to let me do that.

One time my mom and I were getting our annual passes at guest services outside MK. We had arrived on Saturday afternoon and planned on going to MK that evening, only to see Spectro and the fireworks figuring lines would be long. Anyway, the printer for the passes broke. We had to wait about 15 minutes. No big deal, we had plenty of time before Spectro. The cm gave us each 3 fastpasses to use anywhere in the park! It was such a treat because the lines were long. I think we did Peter Pan, Buzz and Pooh, thinking those rides would be long lines on another day.

One time Space Mt stopped while I was waiting in line close to the platform and they asked us to leave. They gave us a fastpass for later.

I got stuck on Peter Pan in Disneyland last week, right before the end. It was about 10 or 15 minutes, I didn't get anything.
