Does Disney compinsate for when your stuck on a ride?(settling a dispute)

In November, we were in Disneyland and my son got a nosebleed at one of the parades...he ended up bleeding on the little girl in front of him and it went a little down the back of her shirt by the time we noticed. It was as if Disney had eyes watching because as I was running my son to the bathroom, 3 people came out of nowhere with scrubs and disinfectant and was scrubbing the cement during the parade where he dripped some blood plus he gave my son a voucher for a free shirt and also the little girl that he bled on. It was really pretty amazing. I felt bad about the fact that we caused the problem and Disney still felt the need to compensate us, it was really a nice gesture for us and the little girl.

Amen to that!!! You took the words right out of my mouth. Rides are machines and unfortunately machines break. Yes, it totally stinks, but it happens.

Seriously...:confused3 .... Seriously!?:rotfl:

It's at the point where I'm convinced that people think they deserve "compensation" for almost anything...:confused3

Mickey's Philamagic broke down when when we were in line once. We'd only been in line about 2 minutes, but they gave everyone fastpasses to come back at any other time that day. I actually felt really weird about it. I tried to tell the CM we'd just gotten there, but she said take it, it might be crowded later.

I got stuck on ToT about 10 years ago (I was in High school) for almost an hour... we were in mid drop and there was another elevator directly behind us and what sounded like above us :confused3

I was really disappointed in how Disney handled it - of course as a HS kid I was expecting something cool (at least back to the front of the line), but instead they finally got us down, ushered us out a side door, and never said a word... not an "I'm sorry" nothing... :sad2:

they do compensate for continental drift and stellar procession, or you might get a fast pass. Either way... so long as no one collides with another planet.

In 2006 we were stuck in Buzz Lightyear for about 20 minutes. It was cool to see because all the lights came on. We even found a Hidden Mickey, we didn't get anything and didn't expect too.

I would imagine if RnRC stopped and you were in the spiral, especially inverted, for a prolonged period they would do things to be very nice to you.

Well, granted as RnRC can't really stop upside down, as it is all gravity powered once you clear the launch track, the likeliness of that happening is very rare. Coasters have been known to stop upside-down, but that is something severe, such as a wheel falling off and the train "skidding" to a stop, and the train just happens to land in an upside-down spot.

But if the ride were to be "emergency stopped" from the ride crew, it would not stop upside down. If the train were in the launch track, a set of brakes would engage the train, causing it to decelerate rapidly. If it just cleared the launch track, and the Estop was hit, the train would continue to coast until it hits a "brake run" designed to stop the train if necessary. It would then stop at that desired spot, which is always completely flat and accesible by stairs, incase an evac had to occur from that point.

We got stuck on two different rides last Nov............We were stuck in the Haunted Mansion.........it broke down twice while we were on the same ride.........sat for over 20 minutes each stop.so figure on being in the dark there about 45-50 minutes.........my little girl was NOT a happy camper........Got NO compensation or fast pass or even a "sorry".......

Then we were on Ellen's Energy ride............got just into the dinosaurs and the ride broke..........sat for about 25 minutes then the lights all came on........sat another 5-10 minutes and they announced for us to stay seated and a CM would be around shortly to escort us out of the ride.

After about another 15 minutes we were taken out of our "cars" and led out. Everyone on the ride got a fast pass good for either Mission Space or the Norway ride............I was hoping for something like SOARIN or Test Track......but was just pleased with what we got.

All I know is that I am happy that I wasn't that guy that got stuck RIGHT where the dino was spitting water at the crowd. Those people were SOAKED.

:thumbsup2 Thank you for clarifying this.

We were at DHS last week when the ride had to be completely turned off. Everything was going fine and then all of a sudden these back light came on and the cars were not moving anymore. Then, an announcement came on that they were having difficulties. We all thought it was a malfunction with the ride because a recording kept saying over and over again they were having problems. This started to freak out my DS8. He didn't want to ride if it was having problems. I don't blame him one bit. After about 15 minutes of waiting around without any answers, we saw a maintenance man appear. He went to the car that was in the area right before the stoplight. Come to find out, a child freaked out right before it was set to take off. So, they had to turn off the whole system, get maintenance and then get the boy off. It was a whole ordeal. I was curious how that would affect the other people already on the ride. Everyone in line was joking about being stuck upside down. I'm glad that would never happen. We weren't compensated for our time lost in the park. But, no one really expected it because we got to ride in the end.

We were waiting in line for Buzz Lightyear last week when it was having difficulties too. However, that only lasted about five minutes at the most. It was during EMH (PM). So, we rode it twice without getting off. That well made up for the five minutes of waiting.

Last December my family and I were stuck in the Haunted Mansion line for 15 minutes where you all get on the Doom Buggy, because it was not working. Then while we were in our Doom Buggy it stopped again, however it was only a 30 second delay. So after it was over and everyone was leaving they gave out those Fast Passes, that were good for any attraction with a Fast Pass line at anytime we wanted to use them.

We got stuck on Universe of Energy. They gave us a fastpass for three specific rides. I think it was for either Honey I shrunk the audience, Mission Space, or Test Track.

The OP never said anything about monetary compensation. Interesting that a few posters immediately thought that her husband wanted money out of Disney World.

It sounds like the normal compensation could be a FastPass to use at any attraction at any time during the time. That makes sense as you have spent more time at the broken attraction than you planned. If it's not offered and you really want to push the issue, I suppose you could nicely ask for that. But I think most people who have posted are fine if they get something and fine if they don't. It's just part of the vacation (and a great story to tell).

For the poster who had the experience on Twilight Zone - I'm thinking that Disney just wanted people off and out of the attraction since the elevators were stuck with people in them. That's more for safety than anything else. Personally, I would have just been darn glad to get back on the ground.

Bottom line: sometimes they will compensate for your lost time, but you shouldn't bank on it.

I have learned that if I go into it not expecting anything, I'm not disappointed if I don't get anything. And if I do, well that's an added bonus.

It's all in the attitude. :)

My husband and I thought our anniversary trip was doomed from the start. We arrived on Friday, 1/4/08, and went directly to the MK because I wanted to ride the refurbed HM. It was a 40-minute wait. We got in line, got through the Stretch Room, and into the queue. We were maybe 100 people from the loading platform when the ride stopped. We saw CM's running down the sides of the platform and thought there might be some sort of emergency. Eventually, the ride started again, only to stop. And after a few minutes, start, then stop. Finally, they evacuated the line through the handi-capped entrance and gave us each a FP to use for any ride.

At that point, it was almost time for our ADR at the Plaza, so we went and ate. We took our FP to Space Mountain, and got in line. Midway through the queue, the lights came up and the ride stopped. They tested it multiple times, finally resumed operation. We had just gotten through the turnstiles and past the control tower when the lights went on again and they emptied the ride. :( We didn't get FP that time and were a little upset that we'd used ours from the HM and didn't even get to ride.

But, the story ends happily as we went back to HM, it was up and running with only a few minute wait. We apparently just missed BTMRR having a short stoppage, got in line and rode that. We never did get to ride Space Mtn though, we checked back just before the park closed and it was still down.
