Does anyone tent camp simply because they enjoy it?

Tent camping is awesome. You meet people which you are less likely to do at a hotel. I take my girls tent camping and they love it. The key is to have a good quality tent in case of rain, a great air mattress, and proper planning to make your trip enjoyable.

your kids are going to be soooooooo excited and the memories you make there will last a life time! I've tent camped and taken our TT and there has NEVER been a bad time at the Fort!!! :hippie:

Our DF of 5 is three weeks away from departing for our FW tent trip (6 nights), and we are pretty excited about it...I should say DW and myself, as the kids only know we are going camping for spring break somewhere, maybe SC, maybe GA, maybe even FL...they have no idea its WDW...so glad that there is so many who have had great experiences at FW in the tent.

Thanks for the confidence boosts all.

What is considered a "good quality tent"? Just wondering because we'll be camping for the first time at FW in April in a tent and have a 15X9 Coleman that says "8 person". (There will be 4 of us.) We also have a little Greatland 2-3 person tent for our "storage" area. Hopefully this will work for us, and if not, we'll have lots of good memories! :goodvibes

Tent camping, sure I like sleeping close to mother earth, listening to the wife complaining about things crawling on her. Getting up in the middle of the night to keep her company while she piddles behind the tree. I love to watch the wind blow the side curtains and wonder how long before I have to go out in the rain and secure them.
Just a thought. Back when we got into camping back in the 80's. I found an old popup camper in a guys back yard that hadn't been used in ages. Needed a bunch of cleaning. Gave him $300 and towed it off. We owned a extended cab Nissan at the time. We stuck the kids behind the seat on milk crates, loaded the bed of the truck down with coolers and stuff, strapped bikes on top of the camper and we looked like gypsies going down the road. But we had fun and it was cheap.
