Does anyone still use Traveler's Checks?

I had my DD get some last year when we went to Alaska. She had a few hundred in cash, saved from birthdays, etc and I didn't want her losing it on vacation so I figured the checks would be easier.
It was amazing how many cashiers in stores had no idea what to do with them!

I still use them, my bank does not charge for them and I will continue to use them for travel. I was amazed when we went to get gas that the station would not accept them, so we went to another station. I feel my money is safer as I know it CAN and will be replaced if lost or stolen. I do have an emergency cc with a very low limit, I do travel with my debit card for my joint account and my Disney account. But the bulk of my travel funds is in travel checks and the left over checks are carried over until my next Disney trip. Presently I have nearly $200 left from my last trip.

It is also nice to know I have that in my lock box should we have some sort of emergency here at home as well.

Yes, I have had to explain on occasion, but consider it a small price to pay for peace of mind.
