Does anyone still low carb diet?

I do, but I lean towards South Beach (so I get to enjoy some of the good carbs). I've been on it since July and have lost over 35 lbs. I have insulin resistance and it has helped me decrease my insulin levels by 24 points.

I do a version of a low carb diet, except I just stay away from the starchy carbs. Basically I avoid bread (which includes cereal and crackers), potatoes, pasta, and rice. I still eat lots of fruit and veggies (even the ones that are a no-no on the Atkins diet).

If I eat pasta (which is rarely), it's a very small portion of whole grain pasta, as a little side to go with the rest of my meal. And, if I eat rice, it's a very small portion of whole grain brown rice, again only as a small side.

My diet consists of proteins (mostly lean, but sometimes no so lean ;) ), some dairy, and all the fruits and veggies I want. I snack on items like regular buttered popcorn, a few nuts, celery with a little cream cheese, fruit or veggies of anykind, pickles or pickled asparagus (which I love), sugar free jello, light yogurt, etc. If I really fall off the waggon for snacks, I eat a few baked Lays or something similar, but that's a no-no to get in a regular habit of doing.:goodvibes

I've lost 20 pounds since October. :yay: I have about 30 pounds to go.

yes, I started 3 days ago. I did great on it years ago. i am trying to keep it simple and get through this first week. If I can do that I know I can stick with it.

DW does. Well she does to some extent. She's not a big fan of bread, and limits pasta and potato but eats any all the veggies and fruit she wants.

Not by choice :(. I odn't know how low carb it is considered, but I can eat 45 g per meal with a 15g snack due to having diabetes (it is carbs that raise blood sugar). I do find it easier to lose weight because carbs are the food I like the most so sticking to this automatically means I am eating less.

I am doing Atkins. I was just diagnosed with diabetes and the diabetic diet just had too many carbs in it. When I plugged in everything I ate into the diet analyizer that Im using it came up 3/4 carbs which cannot be good. I just started about four days ago and so far I am doing okay with it. Im not a big fan of bread and pasta etc....so not eating it is okay with me.

I do!! I started Atkins in April of 07 and I love it!! It truly is a way of life for me now....I am down 82 lbs so far, 18 to go until goal!:cool1:

I'm supposed to. I really need to get back on it. I've gained like 10-15 pounds and feel yucky.

It's so much easier when the weather is warm and I'm not craving comfort food. :lmao: I want to be feeling energetic before our April trip to BCV.

Yes--I'd probably call it a variation of Atkins, but it's not any one plan per se. I find I feel better and am mentally sharper when I'm LC'ing. (And I probably eat more veggies when I'm LC'ing than not--imagine that!)

Im am always so tempted to cause I lost so much quickly! I gained it all back but worst of all I seriously think it change my whole body chemistry for many years even after i was no longer doing it. Frail nails, thinning hair and worst of I developed (out of the blue) and allergy to alcohol that no doctor could figure out. I blame it on the Low carb! but just my own theory and of course you may not experience those particular things. However, I did notice lots of changes right around the time of my low carb days! No doubt it works but pay close attention to abnormal changes.

When I say low carb I'm talking lean protein and lots of veggies. I avoid the "white carbs". Bread, crackers, potatoes, pasta, corn, rice etc. Not sure how that could affect someone they way you are talking but perhaps you were eating differently. I do agree with you about paying attention to abnormal changes though. Good advice.

I gave up flour and sugar on Jan.2. I have lost 12 pounds. It's not a true low carb but I plan on getting there. If I go too hard core, I will quit. This way when I see results, it will be easier to stop eating something else.
