Does anyone remember this MGM attraction?...

the building it took place in is right next to the Drew Carey "sounds dangerous". This was an audience interactive attraction. They picked a handful of people from the audience and allowed them to act in different tv show sketches (one I remember was the candy factory episode from "I Love Lucy")
and my dad was in a David Letterman sketch. This attraction was so cool and I wish they hadn't gotten rid of it. I was just hoping someone had information about the attraction and if there were pics or videos of it on the web. Thanks in advance! :earsgirl:

I don't remember that one, but it sounds neat. Sorry I missed it, I am a huge Lucy fan. Anyone with pics, please post or link!

Yes, I remember that! :flower: Can't think of the name of it, but I remember maybe one of the sketches was from the tv show Cheers.

I think it was called superstar television or something like that.
I loved it too and was so bummed when the closed it. :hourglass

I also believe it was called something like Superstar Television. I thought it was a very different and funny offering. Too bad they took it away.

Yep, Superstar Television. One time I was picked to be in the Cheers scene, it was kind of neat.

I loved SST! It was really cool. I remember them doing some soap and one was Cheers. I think they did a news cast also. I was too chicken to audition back then. Id do it now!

We loved the Tool Time part with Tim Allen. Our son got to be in the Gilligan's Island part, too. I miss it...

Yes, I loved that show, wish they would bring it back (with newer shows of course, Cheers wouldn't work now). It's time to replace Sounds Dangerous in my oppinion.

I know they used to use Bonanza, I love Lucy, General Hospital, Cheers, Home Improvement, and Gilligans Island.

I remember that. I was picked to be in a sketch as part of a 3 woman singing group when I was 16. I remember being totally mortified!

I ony got to see that once and I thought it was so fun. I have never been in Sounds Dangerous before, even after several trips. I dont know why.

Superstar Television was a blast! At one time or another my mom was picked for the I love Lucy sketch, my dad was 'interviewed' by Johnny Carson, I held cue cards for the moon landing and my friend asked Letterman something about turkeys. We all loved it!

My Mom's maiden name is somewhat unusual (Dutch), and there are several different spellings even amongst her 1st cousins. They used to post the names of the participation guests, and we met some distant relatives that way :)

I understand them closing the show, since Disney now owns ABC and many of the shows presented were from different networks, but surely ABC has some classic shows, as well as newer shows, that would work for this format.

What was the one where Martin Short played this weird scientist and "did in" all the salesmen that came to call?...audience members got to do all the sound effects for that show, too. Was that where Sounds Dangerous is now??

I never saw SST, but on our trip in '96 they had the blue hotrod from Home Improvement on display at MGM - my husband loved that!!

Wow,

I forgot all about that one. We saw it many years ago on our honeymoon. I remember somthing happened with one of the guests that made me and my wife crack up, but I can't remember exactley what it was.

That was very cool. But like a lot of the show attractions, IMHO once you see them once, they kind of lose something the second and third times around. There are just so many times you can sit through something when you know the show.

I got picked to participate in that show as well - and I got a pie in the face for my troubles! :rotfl2: It was a scene from the Three Stooges featuring a food fight, and the CM's dressed me up in a butler's outfit and had me hold a fake pie. As part of the scene, I had to have a cream pie thrown at me (NOT fake), but it was all in good fun. Since that was the one and only time I ever went to that attraction, I never actually saw it from the audience's perspective. Oh, well....

I was picked to be "Ethel" in the Lucy chocolate-factory episode. Since I have always LOVED that show and that particular episode, it was so much fun for me. It was such a cool experience to have it "come to life" - the conveyor belt with the chocolates coming along, and then they started to speed up and I was sticking chocolates under my hat and down the front of my dress (and laughing!) The one thing I wished was that they provided a tape of that to take home afterwards - I would have gladly paid money to have that a record of that experience! Also, my son got to be in the Gilligan's Island episode on another trip. (This same son was one of the "extras" for the Indiana Jones Stunt Show during our most recent trip - maybe he's got a future in the movies?)

Yes, that is where Sounds Dangerous is today. I think it was called Monster Sound Show.
