Does anyone remember this MGM attraction?...

I was the cue card guy on the moon with Neil Armstrong.

I also got to be Doc Brown on the clock tower at Universal Studios during a trip to California.

On both occasions, later in the day, people recognized me from my time in the "spotlight". That was kind of strange.

I was in the David Letterman clip when I was 13 years old. I still remember my line..."How about a turkey?" It was fun, and I remember feeling so special to be picked from the crowd.

I remember that one. I got chosen to be apart of it. i had to make the squeeky noises when doors opened on the movie. boy was i wayyy off :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
it was so much fun. i wish they still had it. :earsboy:

Yes I remember! I was picked to be in the David Letterman sketch. I thought I was so cool! :cool1:

It was fun. :rotfl:

When my younger sister was there with her HS band (1992or3) she got picked 2 different time to be in the Cheers sketch. She said it was a lot of fun.

My parents were chosen to be in the Golden Girls sketch.

To this day, my DM still blames my DH. She somehow believes that he pointed at them to get them chosen.

My Mom was picked to be in the Lucy sketch. She really got into it, it was hysterical!

Yes, Superstar Television was the name of it. I never did it nor did anyone in my family. I don't remember it too well though.

I was also picked to be in the Golden Girls sketch and was soooo embarrased. I think I had to answer the door or something like that.

What was the one where Martin Short played this weird scientist and "did in" all the salesmen that came to call?...audience members got to do all the sound effects for that show, too. Was that where Sounds Dangerous is now?

Yes, I loved the older version of the sound show. I remember they would play a little film (with Chevy Chase I think) and it was so funny when the audience had to make the sound effects with things like coconut shells for horse hooves and corrugated iron sheets for weather.

Of course when they played the film again, all the sound effects would either be too late or missing altogether. It was such a lot of fun and really taught you how important a good sound effects team is to a movie. :flower:

I was picked for that one too  It was embarrasing but fun at the same time.

I was in the one with the three girls singing and dancing. The song was Do Run Run. We had very ugly robe like costumes on LOL..

Boy, I forgot about that one! My VERY VERY shy 7 year old DD got picked to be "Ginger" from Gilligan's Island and I was so nervous for her; she went because she was too timid not to. But she did great and LOVED it. I was so proud of her. (She's 24 now and hasn't got a shy bone in her body.)

I used to LOVE that show... we looked forward to it every MGM trip. I was in the ending Letterman singing show a number of times and my mom was the woman in the bar one time. They really need to do something with that building.

I remember that and I also remember being picked for the Gilligan's Island sketch when I was like 14. HAHA! Ahh...the memories...

Wish they would bring something like that back again!

My girlfriends and I went in 1995 before I got married and we were picked to be the Vonzelles, too! It was so funny. We had to wear these orange dresses and the rest of the week people kept recognizing us from that show. The pictures are hysterical.

Superstar tv was one of our favs! I loved the Lucy one - no matter how many times we saw it, it was always funny. We were sitting on the steps last year to get out of the rain and it was just so sad that it sits empty.

So many people enjoyed it (including me). Does anyone know WHY they discontinued it? I think I heard something about copyrights, but I'm not sure of that. Maybe a guess.

We loved SuperStar Theater- it was one of our all-time faves. My DH got to be on David Letterman. This was when MGM was at it's best. Monster Sound Show, SuperStar Theater...the old Residential street. Don't get me wrong I love TOT and RnR, but those attractions can be there with Monster Sound Show and SuperStar Theater...the buildings are still there. Sounds Dangerous is a shame and a disgrace - what a joke!

I will have to say I'm glad Fantasmic is at MGM. I'd love for MGM to have Fantasmic, RnR, TOT, SuperStar Theater, Monster Sound Show, the Old Residential Street (I know the car stunt show is good, but not good enough to ruin residential street...I can take it or leave it). I love Indiana Jones, Star Tours and all the others. Oh, except the Animation Tour - I'd like to see the old tour back. But that isn't going to happen because I don't think the animators even work there anymore.

MGM is in need of a little help I think....

Sorry, I digress...

BRING BACK SUPERSTAR THEATER!

I was about 7 at the time I was chosen to do a sketch on that attraction. I chickened out and started crying to death. Now I wish I would've gone through with it!
