does anyone own a soda stream?

We LOVE ours! We use it constantly. Got it at Bed Bath & Beyond with a coupon and a rebate so the price was significantly less. I also use BB & B coupons for the canisters so they are cheaper. Our canister lasts us for 3-4 months. I agree with the previous posters about the syrup but we use it mostly for plain seltzer so that isn't an issue for us. Sometimes I squeeze in a hint of fresh fruit juice at the end.Lemon, lime and orange are easy to do and taste great!

We did/do this too. BB&B coupon for 25% off of a starter set brought the cost down to $75. Then we do a canister every 2-3 mos. I like lightly fizzed water like pellegrino so I think that makes it last longer. We love it and it definitely saves on seltzer.

I'm a Pepsi person. Will I like the cola with Soda Stream?

I doubt it. The colas are pretty bad. The other soda flavors seem to taste exactly like the brand (sprite, Dr Pepper, fanta etc.)

So I was in WalMart yesterday (don't judge me) and I passed by the SodaStream display. I remembered this thread so I picked up a non-diet cola refill and checked out the ingredients. The sweetener was cane sugar. Sorbital was NOT listed as an ingredient.

Correct.

On the cola, the ingredients are: sugar, water, caramel coloring, phosphoric acid, natural flavoring, acesulfame potassium, sucralose, sodium citrate, caffeine Contains sulfites.

It's the sucralose and sulfites that do me in. The Acesulfame postassium is a sweetener also.


the label on the "natural" cola has listed: sugar, water, fruclose, dried apple extract, food acids (citric acid, tartaric acid), natural flavor and caffeine.

I like the "naturals" better. Still like Pittsburgh soda syrups better, though.

We bought our SodaStream a couple months ago, and for the most part we like it. My coke drinker actually likes the Cola, my hubby likes the cola free, I HATE that flavor (but love Coke Zero), my Dr Pepper drinker isn't fond of the Dr Pete, but loves the root beer and the Fountain Mist (think Mt Dew). I like the Dt Pink Grapefruit (think Fresca) and the Diet Cola is decent. I am going to look into this other company and check out their syrups, they sound delish! Also, we frequently use by adding lemon juice, oj, or the MIO flavoring. For us where we are really seeing a savings, though, is dh was buying Monster EVERY day, we bought the Dt Energy drink. He says it tastes more like Red Bull than Monster, but works either way, and is WAY cheaper than the $2 per can he was paying before.
