When the mask requirement indoors will be dropped?

When BBB will reopen?

When our kids can give Mickey a hug and high five again??

I'm incredibly frustrated at the lack of information; we are not even given an off-ramp goal list or timeline!

We have the Grand Floridian booked in February and I am giving serious consideration to cancelling and rebooking at Universal (for a fraction of the price!)

Fundamentally, I don't understand how Disney can "train" us and expect such diligent planning yet give us zero information or timeline or even an expected framework for such major components of a Disney vacation.

No one knows for sure. But common sense says it definitely won't be anytime soon for masks. More than likely not until next spring. Disney isn't going to drop it as we are just starting to go into cold/flu season, with an inevitable post-Christmas spike around the corner.

As for BBB, that's probably not returning until the pandemic is over. I mean you think about it - that's extremely close contact, in your face, can't wear masks sort of thing. Not the kind of risk Disney is going to want to take.

Hugging and high giving Mickey... Hard to say. I could see that coming back before BBB honestly.

As for communication - Disney doesn't communicate 😉

Keep in mind that Disney needs to protect its CMs as well as its guests. Making some of these changes will require agreement/negotiation with the various CM unions, including Actors Equity. My feeling is that Disney has a plan, but those who know what it is are not at liberty to divulge it. And they don't want to announce that something is coming back and then have to retract it because the situation has worsened again.

To be completely honest, I would rebook. I worry your expectations and frustrations will get in the way of you enjoying your vacation. Time and time again I have seen people asking the same questions and focusing on the future. Would it be nice to have those things back? Absolutely! Does anybody know when they will be back/ they will be back soon? No and probably not. My best educated guess is none of those things will happen by February for sure. At minimum, they will want to wait until a large number of children are vaccinated. It is about protected other guests, but also the CMs who bring the magic. Either make peace with how Disney is at the moment, or change your trip. I genuinely think you will be happier that way. Good luck :)

We are booked for the end of January first of February. We set a deadline of the end of November if they are still requiring masks we will cancel and try again for next September. So we are just waiting as well to see what happens. At this point, it is looking more like we will be changing our trip.

The OP is not going to get an answer to those questions at this time, because no one has the answers. Not other posters and not Disney. The changes you're asking about depend on many things beyond our control. If you don't wish to visit Disney with the requirements currently in place, you should save the anxiety, book somewhere else you're more comfortable, and come back to WDW another time.

No one knows anything.
with performers and shows they have to work with Equity, AGMA, AGVA, IATSE and the other unions. For World Showcase it’s the countries allowing international travel and visas.
Also as an FYI Universal is also still limited with certain things. We met Krusty while he was behind a gate. Many HHN scareactors were wearing masks.
No one knows when or if many things will return. With Orange County’s Covid cases dropping I foresee masks dropping in a little bit. But that’s only based off numbers.

Thanks for chiming in. I think I am leaning towards exactly what you are describing.

We enjoyed Universal last time we were there. Is it the same as seeing the Castle? Of course not. And I am sad to think about missing out on that.

ugh! <3

My advice is to cancel Grand Floridian and booking at at Universal for a fraction of the price.

Disney is never going to give you information or timeline or even an expected framework for these things.

People are vacationing at Disney right now with the mask requirements in place, BBB closed and without hugs from Mickey.

A few months ago, the question was "when will Disney reopen?"

No one knows when these things will return, if ever. Those in the past. The future is uncertain.

It's just the way it is.

Plan for what is available now and have fun with what we have now.
