you can call the airlines (particularly American Airlines) and see if there is a list you can be put on to get on an earlier flight without being charged change fees. I'm asking because I looked at our flights and there is only about 4 seats left. So I would love to get into Orlando earlier if possible. :flower:

With American you can fly stand-by for an earlier flight. To do it you must physically check-in and wait. From my experience this is the only way you can get on the stand-by list. Also the list is prioritized by the class of ticket you have and if you have preferred flight status such as Platinum, Gold, etc.

Americanidol, Call Aa The Night Before, Or The Morn Of, And Tell Them You Are Flying Stanby, And Ask Them How The Flight Looks, For You Getting On. They Will Take You If It Is Worth It, Or Not. The Closer The Flight, The More Of A Ball Park Figure You Will Get.

The amount of seats showing on an airline "Seatmap" may not actually be an accurate estimation of how many tickets are actually available for that particular flight. Some seats may actually be available, but will be blocked, and show up as reserved until people get to the airport and check in.
