I know that you can link a DVC cash rate room with a DVC points ressie...but with the new system...can I book AP disounted cash nights and link to DVC ressie so we don't have to move??? The AP discount is better than the DVC cash discount. THANKS

They can't be linked. The best that can be done is have the other reservation noted on each and then check with the front desk at check-in to see if they assigned the same room for both.

I was hoping with the new system changes this could be done. :(

Part of the issue is the reservations have different rules. For example, you'll get full housekeeping with the AP room. I did an AP room at the end of a 5 night DVC points room at OKW a few years ago and it was no problem. Just had to go to the front desk and get new keys, new parking pass. I did get a full cleaning that day.

So when you checked in... did you tell them you had that ressie? I would think they would have already booked the dvc room you were in starting the day you were to check out? :confused3

Yes, both reservations were noted and I mentioned it when I checked in with the DVC reservation.

A cash room through DVC is really a room reserved with points which is why they can be linked if they match exactly (unit size, type and booking category).

I knew that but I am trying to book an AP discounted room since it gives 35% instead of the 25%. :thumbsup2 However...if it means we would have to move... I will take my loss and go with the DVC discount.

You cannot link with any CRO rooms, however, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll have to move. You'll have to check in again on the change day but if it's the same category, you likely would not have to move. You just can't guarantee that you won't. IF you have a specialty option like OKW HH category or a BCV 2 queen (among a number of others) then it's very likely, if not guaranteed, you'd have to move. Even if it's a different size (say 1 BR and you have a L/O 2 BR for the rest), you might not have to move. If you're in a situation where you might not have to move, there are ways to minimize the risk.

Thanks Dean :)
