Does anyone here NOT like Whispering Canyon Cafe?

Thanks all for your replies. It is good to know I'm not alone, LOL:rotfl2: I was watching some peoples videos of their visit there and I thought to myself, "who in the world would enjoy this kind of environment?" Our family would certainly not enjoy this type of place for sure. Glad to know that the food is horrible too, LOL:lmao: That makes it even more of a clincher for me to STEER CLEAR of that place. Thanks all:hippie:

We had a blast but your right, it is not for everyone. Since most of the restaurants my kids go to at home are normal quiet restaurants, they had a blast being loud and obnoxious. Dh & I actively participate in the craziness too. Our food was ok but we went for the atmosphere.

Were you just off of the main dining room and right before the doors to the second dining room? (on the 'right hand' side of the restaurant)

We were in the third section. We were all the way to the right, but against the wall dividing the second and third areas. (There was a small area between us and the main dining area.) We could hear some of the antics going on, but we were in no way in the middle of the action. And it wasn't loud enough to disturb our meal.

Our server was Goldrush Girl/Goldie. She still threw straws and napkins, and brought the guy at the next table the HUGE thing of water. But it was much more modified from what we saw going on in the main area. Nobody yelled for ketchup in our section or anything. lol

ETA: Our food was GREAT! That was the most stuffed we were on the entire trip! DH had the skillet. I had the chicken pasta (don't know the official name). We both had the bottomless milkshakes--SERIOUS yum!

That sounds exactly like where we ate! We hated it, but we were going mostly for the antics. Our server Stinky Pete was minimally into the antics. When we encouraged him, he'd throw us a 'bone' but he never did anything on his own and often disappeared.

I agree, it's a great area for a family that wants a more quiet evening.

I could see how you would be disappointed if you wanted to be in the middle of everything. We were there for our anniversary, and thus without our kids. With our kids, we'd want to be in the main area for sure!

But it is a great option for someone who wants to eat there, but be away from some of the action.

And that stinks that you didn't have a good server. I noticed that the other server in that area wasn't as into it as ours was. She was hilarious, even if she was toned down from those in the main area. She was TONS better than our server at California Grill (and we actually told her that).

We really wanted to like WCC and were very excited about trying it. We don't mind the noise (we love Chef Mickey's & HDDR), so we knew we'd be okay with the chaos and games. The food selection seemed to be the kind that we would normally love. I didn't think we could go wrong with WCC. Our server was fun, but the food just left a lot to be desired. Considering how much other people love it, I might would be willing to give it another try in the future, but for now, it is one of my least favorite WDW restaurants.

On our last visit to WCC the skillet was absolutely awful. The food was cold, dried out, and tasted like it had been sitting around for hours. We have not returned since, but if we do ...we won't be ordering the skillet.

Mrs. Disney Ron

That's about how I'd describe our last visit to WCC. We had been there 5 times before, and loved it--- but each time our experience had gotten a little bit worse---- and we loved the antics, but they also seemed to be diminishing.

We had breakfast there and it was ok. Just ok. I'd go back again, but I wouldn't go terribly far out of my way to do it.

We love Chef Mickey's and HDDR too, but WCC did nothing for us.

I still don't get the ketchup thing either. LoL. :)

We had a not so great dining experience here a few years ago. The food was only so-so, the waitress forgot my drink, and then disappeared for the entire meal so we couldn't even find her to flag her down. We were completely ignored by waitstaff we asked to help find our waitress. She only reappeared to bring us our check. We haven't been back.

We must have gotten the same waitress in Feb 2007:confused: ! Very inattentative, slow and dare I say it:eek: ... rude! The food was ok (DW was not impressed!) and the "antics" got old fast!

No, next trip we'll skip it....:confused3

While we had fun it was voted least favorite on our last trip. Food was just mediocre.

I don't see why management can't/won't re-think this restaurant experience, it has many more detractors than fans it seems. WL is a great hotel in every other way :confused3

"Loud, noisy and obnoxious" pretty much covers it. And yes, you will leave with a headache. :lmao:

Unless you're into the hootin, hollerin antics, there's absolutely no reason to eat there. The food is fine, but you can get the same or better at many other places on property.

Well said.

We don't mind going once in a while just for the different experience (especially if our grandson is with us), but this isn't a place we would rush back to.

We ate there once and won't go back. Food not good, noise unbearable.

We didn't care for it. We went hoping for lots of 'annoying' fun. Our server, however, just wasn't into it. Basically, it was just like eating at a regular restaurant. Boring.

Not sure about that, the place is always packed.

When we went, we were probably one of the last tables seated for the evening. Our server/servers ignored the kids and didn't do any of the fun pranks that we had heard they do. We watched other servers play around with their tables but our server must have been a dud. :( Food was marginal, at best. I was not impressed.

We had a fun time but we were celebrating a 50th Over The Hill Party. The kids had a ball teasing their "aunty Lisa" as our server called her. The food was so so. The kids loved it the adults not so much so. I probably wont return again. Just not our kind of place and to many better choices.

Of the table of 9 of us, only 2 liked WCC. A couple didn't like it at all and the rest said it was okay. Most didn't think the service was that great. I myself don't know what the big thing of WCC is. It's one of those places where you have to try it at least once for your own judgment. I've found restaurants where on the site most say "Go, it's great" and we go and wonder what's so great about it...and then there are those where people say "NO!!! it's terrible" and we find it to be a pleasant experience every time... It's all opinion, and we all have one.

My 2 cents on WCC and other "schtick" restaurants...

I go to the theme parks to be entertained and have fun. I go to restaurants for good service, good food and a relaxing atmosphere.

Some people enjoy it, I wouldn't try it if you told me I could eat for free.

I dont really care for Whispering Canyon or the 50's Prime Time, just too much noise and sily stuff for me.

Totally agree! DH says we won't pay "to be abused" at WDW!
