Does anyone here NOT like Whispering Canyon Cafe?

I've watched some videos from peoples visits at this place and I'm just not at all impressed. Seems very loud, noisy, obnoxious and like you really couldn't enjoy your meal much. Seems like you would end up leaving with a HUGE headache. That is my feel on it. Maybe it just isn't my cup of tea but really I don't see what the big rave about that place is. Just wondered if it annoyed anyone else, LOL:scared1:

We had a not so great dining experience here a few years ago. The food was only so-so, the waitress forgot my drink, and then disappeared for the entire meal so we couldn't even find her to flag her down. We were completely ignored by waitstaff we asked to help find our waitress. She only reappeared to bring us our check. We haven't been back.

You couldn't pay me enough to subject myself to that kind of restaurant. It just isn't the thing for our family.

"Loud, noisy and obnoxious" pretty much covers it. And yes, you will leave with a headache. :lmao:

Unless you're into the hootin, hollerin antics, there's absolutely no reason to eat there. The food is fine, but you can get the same or better at many other places on property.

We're with you on this one too!! We ate there in Jan 06 and we were looking forward to it BUT my DH NEVER wants to go back again. It took a long time, our server wasn't into the antics and like someone else said it was loud & obnoxious in there! IMO there are so many better restaurants to choose from at WDW.

Not so much annoying, but I have never escaped the place without heartburn!

We've always had fun at WC, but the food is not so great. We stayed at WL last time and did not go to WC at all because there are better places to eat.

On our last visit to WCC the skillet was absolutely awful. The food was cold, dried out, and tasted like it had been sitting around for hours. We have not returned since, but if we do ...we won't be ordering the skillet.

We did not enjoy our first meal here several years ago. It had been a long day and I had a "Disney headache". Let's just say it took about four years to go back and try again.

This summer we went on our first night when none of us were tired and all of us were trying to get in the Disney mood. This worked much better for us. We sort of "enjoyed" the antics. We also had a much better server this time around, too which I think can make or break the experience.

That said, the food has not improved tremedously since the last time. Most of my family enjoyed it, but I think it leaves something to be desired.

Overall, I think you have to be in the right frame of mind. If you are, it can be a really fun experience, especially if your kids participate.

We went and won't be rushing back. The food was mediocre (Skillet) to bad (Vegetable Enchilada). We were seated in the worst area, between two dining rooms and got to see none of the antics. Our server was pretty poor too. He engaged only exactly as much as he had to and only if prodded by us.

We had mediocre food with EXCELLENT and fun service at 50's. We'd go back there long before we went back to WCC.

I must agree with this...50s Primetime is a much better bet, very entertaining and the food was excellent. When I was picking ADR's for out 2008 trip in the summer the first place my daughter asked to go to was the 50's Cafe, it's a blast, much better that WCC.

I dont really care for Whispering Canyon or the 50's Prime Time, just too much noise and sily stuff for me.

We have no plans to go back to the WCC ourselves. We ate there three years ago and enjoyed the antics, there was so much going on. However, we went back last year and it just was not fun none of the waitstaff seemed to be enthusiastic the only thing they even did was the ketchup and the stick horse races. We were very disapointed because we had liked it because of the craziness. Our waitress was awful we could not even get drink refills and the resturaunt was not crowded. The food is just standard barbeque just like you would get at a Sonny's so I would not go because of the food. I agree with others on the board Prime Time is a much nicer place to go if you are looking for that kind of atmposphere.

We went there once, not knowing what it was really about and didn't like it at all. We went for lunch. Food was eh, our waitress was horrible, and calling it Whispering Canyon is a mean joke. It would take a lot for me to return there, especially with so many other great restaurants on property.

We recently stayed up on the club level and during breakfast/snacks, we'd sit overlooking the lobby. There were 1 or 2 servers that had THE LOUDEST voices. It was annoying and we were several floors removed.

Like some other posters have said, I'd rather not subject myself or my family to that type of dining experience. After a day of mass chaos and sensory overload in the parks, having a server yell and scream is not my idea of a nice meal.

I have a question...does anyone know if they act up as much during breakfast as the other meals? I am curious because we have a breakfast ressie there coming up this summer. I hope they tone it down for the 8am crowd.:lmao:

Dh and I loved it. However, we were seated in the area outside of the main room, so we were not in the middle of the action. If you want to try there, but avoid some of the noise, just ask to be seated NOT in the main room. :)

Our waitress was great. We still enjoyed the atmosphere, but with much less noise!

Were you just off of the main dining room and right before the doors to the second dining room? (on the 'right hand' side of the restaurant)
