Does anyone have any experience with PODS?

I just called and got a quote from them. It was much more reasonable than I thought.
They will deliver the container a month before I leave so I can fill it at my leisure. Then pick it up and transport it from NH to FL. Then after it gets to Florida I can have them deliver it to wherever I need it whether its a storage center or my apt. Our apt is pretty well furnished already so I'll just store everything until we move into a house.

Anyway, they quoted me a price of $1800. What do you all think?

ETA: The container is 16' long, 8' high and 8' across.

Depending how big it it I say go for it. We rented 2 for our move and paid approx 400 each to be stored for a few weeks and sent to my new house (local). Truely was the most painfree way to move with living in temp housing for a few weeks.

Just pack it really well and strap everything and stack HIGH!:goodvibes

It just seems so much easier than rushing to pack a moving truck.

We used when we moved 3 yrs ago. Had 2 PODs, if I recall the 1st one was delivered about 10 days before we moved, we filled that with things we could do without for a few weeks, then got the 2nd one about a week ahead. When we then moved if we had alot more driveway space so had both dropped at the same time. Very very easy, made things a ton easier

Only thing to be aware of is you need to have enough space to drop it, I think it was somethinbg like 12 ft wide in order to fit the equipment. We were tight but they made it work

We looked into PODS when we moved from CT to Florida and they weren't bad but we found ABF U Pack to be less expensive. We gave them how many rooms, what kind of furniture etc that we had to move and they delievered 3 of their ReloCubes. If we filled only 2 we only paid for 2 even though they left 3. If we used all 3 then we paid for all 3. It worked out great and they fit everything into the 3 bins with room for a bit more but we didn't need anything else so it worked perfectly.

We were pleased with ABF and have had friends who used PODS and had great service so if the price is right then I would go for it.

Also if your moving down here and don't have family/friends who can help unpack your pods, I would look up a set of good movers as we didn't plan on that and when we arrived realized 2 of us couldn't possibly lift 85% of the items we brought so we had to find movers quickly. Luckily we found a set through ABF with great references.

If you need any suggestions let me know! having just made the big move only 10 months ago I remember all too well the packing/moving process!
