Does anyone feel that the New Food Network Shows are really bad

I kind of like that Ultimate Recipe show.

Don't like Jaime Oliver's new show, nor the Neely's show. Haven't seen Danny Boome yet. Paula's Party is the stupidest show on FN.

Then again, my yardstick for FN personalities is "I don't hate x the way I hate Rachel Ray."

I actually like Guy Fieri. Even though the backward sunglasses are annoying. I wanted to change my Disneyland trip to the weekend that he was hosting a dinner just so I could meet him and make a point of talking to the back of his head by accident.

Sugar host Anna Olsen has a bakery near us, so we checked it out, and it was amazing. Delicious gourmet sandwiches and tasty baked goods.
My favourite was a raspberry shortcake square.

Anyways.. I find RR to be a smidgen...annoying.
And her laugh is a bit creepy as well.

Rachel Ray has the voice of an 80 year old hooker......:scared:

My favorite "foody" of all time is Anthony Bourdain, never miss an episode! Food Network should have worked harder to keep him.

My husband and I love Jamie Oliver and his new shows. The Downhome with the Neelys is okay, I like him but she gets on my last nerve. Who I really, really can't stand though is Giada. I literally feel like smacking her. I grew up with grandparents right from Italy and they NEVER spoke like she does. Why does she feel she needs to "Italianize" certain words. She sounds ridiculous. Even my grandfather, who spoke very broke English, never pronouced words like she does. As if she has to prove she's Italian. Give me a break.... and why, oh why must her ****s be constantly hanging out????
YES!!!!! OMG! ITA! I've said this before - she speaks perfect English, but she uses a weird heavy accent everytime she says an Italian word. WTH?! She's on TV right now and DS12 is making fun of her.

I don't like any of the new shows either. I was hoping to like Rescue Chef with :lovestruc Danny Boome, but other than the eye candy and his cute accent, it's not that great.

Another annoying thing about Giada DeL. is that when the guests assemble for the meal she takes up time explaining how she made the food. Huh? How is that helpful to the audience who presumably just watched her make this food. Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) does this as well, and it is just as annoying. Actually, it is even more painful with Ina Garten because she strikes me as being so uncomfortable in front of the camera and I can't stand that nervous laugh she has.

I wish the producers would tell thes cooks not to repeat the cooking steps during the meal.

Yea there's something about Ina Garten that gets me too. She always makes herself seem so high falutin (sp). She always says stuff like "Use really good vanila" or "Use homemade chicken stock" or "Up here in the hamptons".

She always makes me feel like she is so much better than everyone else. And seriously, she makes dinner for her husband every friday when she gets home but she makes enough food for 8 - 10 people when it's only the two of them

Recently the Food Network has added some new cooking shows like

Down Home with the Neely's
Jamie Oliver
Rescue Chef
Simply Deliciouso (sp?)

Does anyone else find these shows to be really bad? Each one of these shows are horrible (imho?). I end up turning off the channel when they come on. For some reason it seems like the Food Network has lowered their standards with cooking shows.

Does anyone else agree or am I just crazy?

I agree with everything but Jamie Oliver. Love him AND his show! I can't stand those freakin Neely's they are soooooooooooo annoying!!!

I think the girl who won the last food network challenge really could not speak to the camera. Her food looked good but she didn't have what it takes to be a food network celebrity.

Now I think Guy Fieri is great. He has such personality. And Dan & Steve, I liked them too but they also didn't have the food network celebrity personalities

I like Dan and Steve's show. I don't like Guy Fieri. In our house when he comes on we say "The Tool is on again"

I like the girl who won this year, DESPISED the Texas girl Rory or whatever her name was. Ack, she was ANNOYING

bwahahahahaha we mock the same thing in our house. We'll walk around and purposely over italianize words now.

I really like him, but those glasses have got to go! :sad2: If his head gets any bigger, the glasses won't fit! I love his Diners Drive ins and Dives!:thumbsup2

I ADORE the Food Network. I really do, but there are so many things about some of them that I really can't stand.

The only ones I have no complaints with at all are

Bobby Flay
Michael Ciarello (sp)
Tyler Florence
Robin Miller
Alton Brown
Dan and Steve
Jamie Oliver
Mario Batali
Ellie Krieger

Then some are ok but little things irk me:

Giada - Chews on her words, over italianizes words, shows too many teeth when smiling, and ****s are always hanging out

Rachel Ray - Used to be cute until she got so popular, now she is a caricature of herself

Sandra Lee - I actually don't mind the "tablescapes" I just don't like the way she talks. She drags words out like "This is gonna be sooooooooooooo yummy"

Ina Garten - I actually like everything about her except her laugh, it sounds really fake

Emeril - What the frick? Why do people applaud Garlic? He is wayyy too over the top

Paula Deen - Why does she have to EAT through her entire show. It grosses me out. I'm no skinny minny but I'm not CONSTANTLY eating. Blech! And now, with Paula's party and her having an audience, she's worse than Emeril when it comes to being over the top. AND her sons are annoying!

Amy Finley (sp) winner of foodnetwork star - I really like her except for the way she talks, weird mouth

Simply Delicioso girl - Annoying voice, ****s always hanging out

Guy Fieri - GROW UP, you are no longer a frat guy! Put on some long pants, and get those freakin sunglasses off the back of your head!!!!

Neely's - I actually don't mind the guy, but the wife is the epitome of obnoxious.

It's amazing I watch as much of that channel as I do!!!!!

My favorite "foody" of all time is Anthony Bourdain, never miss an episode! Food Network should have worked harder to keep him.
:lmao: That is too funny!:rotfl2:
Anthony Bourdain I heard was very rude and obnoxious, but now that he has a kid, he has gotten kinder.;)

We think Anthony is really pretentious, but we like his show, so we watch it all the time. We'd rather watch pretentious than obnoxious.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bourdain too.
I think the Food Network has been way too dumbed down. I am a pretty good cook and tend to use as many fresh ingredients as I can. I want a chef on this network to challenge me, to make me think, oh, I wonder if I can do that. As it is now I'm sure I could make everything these new shows are making. Jamie Oliver is the only one that I have any respect for. The Neeleys are ridiculous. My knife skills are better than the husband's and that's not saying much. I could go on and on.....

I love No Reservations. Bourdain is dreamy. :p

The only show I watch regularly on Food Network now is Ace of Cakes.

Did anyone see the new show, I think it's called Cooking for Real, on Saturday? So, so bad. I couldn't stand that girl on the gadget show she used to do on Food Network, but she's worse in this format.
