I'm always picky about what my daughter wears but it gets much worse when it comes to vacation time. I'm already planning out what she should wear. What's even worse is that I will let her wear something Disney themed (last year was an Alice dress) only for maybe one day during our trip. Luckily she doesn't mind though since she's getting pretty picky about her clothes herself :rotfl: I've created a monster.

I'm thinking of ordering maybe one Disney custom but I'm not sure yet. It's hard to find complete outfits for under $100.

So does anyone else do this or am I just completely nutty? lol

I can't say you're nutty; I have boys, 12 and almost 9, who just are not 'into' clothes. They must get it from me cuz when I pack for WDW I grab a few tshirts of theirs that aren't stained and that's as good as it gets. :lmao: It's a theme park and we're usually hot, sweaty, etc. so no point in getting dressed up. It always turns into a bad hair day too; wind blowing, hair sticks to my sweaty face, just gross. I barely even notice what others are wearing so I assume they're not examining mine either. On days that we go to the parks it's usually from morning to closing show: Wishes, Fantasmic, etc. so most dinners are in the parks for us.

A vessel would burst in my brain at the thought of spending $100 for an outfit for WDW. I don't spend much more than that for a RT ticket on AirTran!
For DCL cruises, we do enjoy getting dressed up for formal night I guess b/c everyone does. We bought the boys suits, ties, nice shoes, etc. That was around $100 each.
I guess it's all the same. Have fun shopping!:thumbsup2

I am planning my DDs wardrobe for our trip constantly! She's 9 so she's done with disney wear (how sad) but I find myself planning each days outfit from head to toe. I've gotta stop, these bag fees for checked bags are rediculous!:laundy:

Yes. I am not as bad as some, but I am having a Minnie Mouse boutique dress made for DD. I can't resist.

Ok, I am soooo glad that I am not alone. However, I might still be weird because my children are BOYS. LOL. I have a 5.5 and 2.5 year old, and yes, their outfits for the 3 days we'll be in Disney are totally planned. I ordered some cute custom-embroidered tees on Ebay that say "my first visit to Disney World" with each boy's name for our first day at the MK, and for the day we're having the character lunch at the Crystal Palace I have Pooh and Tigger shirts for them. I also have a Mickey's Clubhouse shirt for each boy for the day we hit DD.

This is nothing new for me. We are coordinated every week when we go to church. :rotfl: In my defense, I'm a scrapbooker, which puts this sickness into total perspective. (If you're a scrapbooker yourself, that is!)

So far I have made over 40 shirts for me and ds 11, dgd 12, and dgs 6, for our upcoming WDW trip this summer. The boys clothes are all packed in ziploc bags and ready to go. They could care less and would wear the same clothes every day if I let them.

Not me.

I want them to be clean and comfortable, but that's pretty much it.

That said, I DID order princess dresses for the girls to wear to 1900 Park Fare, but one was $15 and the other $24 I think. Last year my younger daughter wore hers all night to the MK, her sister took it off right after dinner.

To each his own. If you enjoy dressing them up, they don't complain enough to make you miserable, and you can afford it... enjoy!

Glad I'm not alone...

We aren't going to WDW until August but I've got matching outfits for our family all set aside!

My girls are 3 and 7 and they still love wearing Disney themed clothing so I'm lucky....but I do keep comfort in mind.

We always go to Disney at the end of May so I am in the mode to be buying summer clothes anyway, and I like to take new things on vacation. I do plan comfortable, cool clothing due to the heat but its fun to have very cute things too. My girls are 10 and 14 and there is no way they would wear the princess stuff they used to but are willing to wear a Mickey tee.

My one big tip on planning clothing is to watch color. At Disney I take tons of photos so I tend to put us all in the same color or similar/complentary colors to give us a a more uniform look in photos. The one funny on the last trip was at DHS the girls both wore light aqua colored Hollister t-shirts, well we met Mike and Sully and dd 10 completely blended into Sully's fur so she looked like a floating head in his arms!

Uh, yeah. Have you seen the Disboutique thread?! I had outfits made for DD then learned how to sew so I didn't have to pay $$$ for the cute boutique sets!! I had a new custom set for each day of the park, and 2 special outfits for dinner with the princesses. Plus, each set had a matching set of hairbows, and some had matching jewelry!! DS had a custom set for each day, I had an appliqued tee for each park day, and my DH even wore a matching appliqued polo at Anmal Kingdom!! I know people who have 2+ sets a day for their kids!! I'm a picture jukee too, so I like the matching outfits in pictures to scrapbook.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this but I can't resist. It bothers me when I see these girls all dressed up in their princess dresses in 100 degree weather at Disney. I feel so bad for them, it must be so hot in all those ruffles and satiny material. I do believe however that the kids probably insist on wearing them, but if they were my children I would make them change at some point into tank tops and shorts.

I'm with you. I would never spend that much money or time on picking out outfits for my boys. As long as they're clean and comfortable it's all good. Plus, with DS6 as soon as he eats he'll get his clothes dirty with either juice, ice cream, pizza, etc. No way am I going to spend my vacation worrying about that stuff.

Well, I guess I sort of fall into this category, at least on the last trip in November. It was my little guy's first trip, and my 6 yr old's 5th, so planning and packing was just part of the fun. I actually had matching outfits for them the whole time we were there, different Disney/Mickey/Buzz shirts every day. My 6 yr old would just roll his eyes at me every morning, but it did make the pictures even cuter, and made them easy to spot in the crowd!

My MIL and I always sew one or two outfits for each of my 2 dds. Other than than they wear comfy gymboree knit shorts and shirts. They usually match but that is just because I buy what's cheap in both sizes. I would buy the knits anyway since I don't iron in the summer, just too hot. I like gymboree because my kiddos know how to pick the matching clothes in the morning and can dress themselves even at 3 years old.

This summer they will be wearing their $4 gymboree happy rainbow clothes and dd4 asked for a sleeping beauty costume without glitter (she means comfy), so we are sewing sundresses in the theme of sleeping beauty and tinkerbelle.

No way would I spend $100 but we choose to not afford that. I guess you could always sell them as used for around $40 later. I will probably spend $30 a piece to sew them so I guess $30 more net isn't too bad? We like to make ours though.

Who said cute can't be comfortable? :confused3 My DD is always dressed in comfortable, affordable, boutique clothes.... made by me! (And with matching doll outfits). :thumbsup2

Everyone should just have fun with it!! If you are into it and they like it, dress them up!! If not, dont!!! As for hot uncomfie princess outfits, I think its how the princess perceives it - last October on a hot day, I watched as a mom peeled a princess dress of her 3ish year old (I know, right out in public!!! It was at that little place Orange grove or something) to put her in shorts and a tshirt - well, the little princess SCREAMED and cried and pitched a HUGE fit because she wanted to wear her dress!!! Sooo to each his own and have a GREAT time!!!!!

I am so glad I am found this thread. Thank you for making me feel "normal." Our first trip is in June and I have been planning what my DD(10):wizard: & DD(6):cutie: will wear for weeks. I am lucky I have some sewing skills. I have made a couple sundresses for my DD:cutie:. My problem now is she insists Minnie wears pink and not red. Anyone know if Minnie is wearing pink somewhere? HS?

You are normal!!!!! Minnie wears pink dot on Playhouse Disney. (Come visit us on the Disboutiquer Board and join the insanity:thumbsup2)

Glad to know that I am not alone. We always wear shirts that are Disney themed in some way every day on the trip. DS8 is all for it still, but DS13 is not anymore so I am not pushing the issue. I can get DS13 to wear Nightmare Before Christmas but that is about it...darn teenagers! Shoot...I am just happy that he still is excited to go to WDW. Beggers can't be choosers.

My DH thinks I am absolutely loopy as my DS (6) has to be dressed in the right clothes for the right park i.e. something safari/lion king/Tarzan for AK, Mickey or Pluto for MK, Star Wars or Toy Story for HS and Mickey/Donald/Goofy for Epcot. It is an absolute no-no :scared1:for any other character t-shirt (spiderman/simpsons) to be worn anywhere near Disney.
On the pirate cruise he must wear pirate Mickey shirt and he has a hawiian shirt for dinner at O'hana's.
My neighbour is the same as me so I am not totally alone here in the UK but it's nice to know there is a wordwide support group for me to join :rotfl2:

So here goes My name is Wendy and I am a Disney clothes obessor...:rotfl:
