Does Anyone Else Obsess Over What Their Kids Where at the World?

HA! :lmao: I just spent two hours today putting together my sons' (4 and 5) wardrobes for our trip (we leave Thursday). Their outfits aren't Disney, but I do like to coordinate them because I think it makes the pictures look better. I also want them to be comfortable, so most of the shirts are lightweight polos. Luckily, they pretty much don't care about clothes yet, so I don't have to fight with them about getting them to wear certain things.

I'm usually pretty laid back about it, but this trip I'm going a bit overboard because DD7 asked for matching clothes for herself and DD8mo. THey've had matching holday dresses for Christmas and Easter too, at her request, so I'm not exactly surprised that she wants a matching Disney wardrobe.

So far, I've gotten them coordinating but not perfectly matching rash guard swimsuits and sunhats (it is hard to find perfectly matching when one is wearing an 8 and the other is still wearing 3-6mo!). I'll eventually be painting custom tees and making coordinating skirts for at least 2 days of our trip, so they'll be in matching outfits for our character meals.

The odd thing for me is that I don't really let her wear the character clothes (unless of course she would ask to), she will have character pajamas. I mainly just buy extra cute head to toe outfits.

Last year at Epcot I seen a family with well over 4 children. They were of all different races so I'm guessing they were adopted. Mom had all the girls dress in a White Gap dress with navy embroidery and all the boys were in I believe navy polo shirts and khakis. It was adorable! I can't imagine all the kids loving it though lol

I am always obsessed about my kids clothes.

THe girls have all the princess dresses and such but I'm probably more obsessed about their regular clothes.

I buy them really good clothes - ralph lauren, j crew, gymboree, lily etc. I make sure they have enough outfites (and sundresses for the girls) for our two week stay at Disney.

They know they are not allowed to wear the "Disney clothes" until our trip. They also have flip flops or sneaks to match their outfits, hair accessories to match and for some reason I feel the need to buy them all new underwear, socks and pajamas for out trip!

Luckily our tri is early this year - June 28-July 12th.

I agree - I think cute can easily be comfortable!!

I do buy new clothes for going to WDW but then I would be buying new summer clothes anyway!! I don't try to match us all up but I do like the girls (and me) to have new things to wear.

Half the fun of planning is shopping for the things to take!

I love the custom sets - so pretty!

Oh yeah; you're normal or there are a lot of us crazy moms running around. lol I don't think my daughter has ever passed through the gates at Disney without a custom outfit on. They are all comfortable clothes that were designed around a day in the hot sun. (We never go in the heat of summer either.) I already have everything ready for her for our Oct. trip. I sell them to other Moms online when we are done. This affords me next year's clothes. The boutique board only feeds my addiction. They are some of the most talented and funny ladies on Dis. You should check out the thread. :thumbsup2

Sure do! You spend soooo much $ to get there & sooooo much time packing, re-packing for everyone, that I would hate to look at the expensive photopass pictures and my own pictures and see "homeless children" outfits all stained and sloppy! I am far less concerned about many parts of our trip, but I do care about my 3 girls outfits. They need to be in great condition, not too revealing, and something age appropriate. I'm glad to see it's not just me!:cheer2:

I too had cute outfits for my kids. I didn't spend a fortune on them. I had 2 pillowcase dresses, one Minnie and one princesses. They are very airy and can put a tee under them in cooler weather, plus they can fit for several trips. My sister made a couple of cute outfits for my dd as well, so very affordable.

My ds had a pair of overalls that my sister put some Mickey stuff on and we had a t-shirt made for him.

We havent done the full on princess outfit yet, my dd is still pretty young, but I like the custom outfits alot!

Count my vote as "Not Nutty." Although I don't buy custom clothes for my 2 boys, I do think about how they are going to look in the pictures! I want them to be totally cute!

Any ideas on what to pack for my DS10:wizard:? I have my DD6:cutie: pretty much taken care of. I would like for them to coordinate but he would not be caught in something sewn by me. Basic t-shirt & shorts? Are polos too hot? Trip will be in June. Thanks!

I'm always picky about what my daughter wears but it gets much worse when it comes to vacation time. I'm already planning out what she should wear. What's even worse is that I will let her wear something Disney themed (last year was an Alice dress) only for maybe one day during our trip. Luckily she doesn't mind though since she's getting pretty picky about her clothes herself :rotfl: I've created a monster.

I'm thinking of ordering maybe one Disney custom but I'm not sure yet. It's hard to find complete outfits for under $100.

So does anyone else do this or am I just completely nutty? lol
Not nutty!! We are going in September & between the boys, DH & myself I have 77 different pieces of clothing to make. I love to sew, so I don't mind and I've given myself plenty of time to get it all done. The boys will be coordinated with each other and to the park we're at. DH and I will coordinate with the boys (but we'll do more adult versions). Everything I'm making is super comfortable and very cool, no itchy, miserable things for us. I really want our pictures to look great and if I can do and still keep everyone comfortable, you better believe I'm going to do it. I can't imagine if I had a little girl! I think God looked at my shopping/sewing habits, looked at our income and said "only boys for you" :rotfl2::rotfl2:!

My MIL and I always sew one or two outfits for each of my 2 dds. Other than than they wear comfy gymboree knit shorts and shirts. They usually match but that is just because I buy what's cheap in both sizes. I would buy the knits anyway since I don't iron in the summer, just too hot. I like gymboree because my kiddos know how to pick the matching clothes in the morning and can dress themselves even at 3 years old.

This summer they will be wearing their $4 gymboree happy rainbow clothes and dd4 asked for a sleeping beauty costume without glitter (she means comfy), so we are sewing sundresses in the theme of sleeping beauty and tinkerbelle.

No way would I spend $100 but we choose to not afford that. I guess you could always sell them as used for around $40 later. I will probably spend $30 a piece to sew them so I guess $30 more net isn't too bad? We like to make ours though.

My kids usually match for this very reason! Both boys wear the same size (my oldest son is a tiny peanut, my younger son is a little bigger than average), so they usually end up with the same thing.

I'm very nutty and I love it! I made a special outfit for each day for our last trip in Feb and am currently in designs for our next trip! The outfits have to also have matching bows and bling to make it complete! I have to sew in the waists of most of her regular clothes anyway (she's a skinny Minnie!) so it was a easy thing to make a whole outfit that fit her perfectly.

When we went in Dec when DD was 4. We made vests in Disney fabric for the character meals. That way, she could wear plain shirts under them and we could use short sleeves if hot and long sleeves if cool enough. We even had a Christmas one with Mickey, Minnie and Pluto for MVMCP.

I try to dress my dd6 and dd4 in similar colors/styles---it looks good in pictures and I can keep track of them more easily. We have the occasional matching outfits (ie. khaki shorts and purple t-shirts).

I was more into it when dd6 was younger---now she has started to move into that "pre-tween" stage (she is almost 7) and is starting to have a mind of her own as far as clothing preferences. It's all about HSM and HM now!

My dd4 is sitting here in her Cinderella dress----at least I still have one little princess!

I just want to say that while my boys will be wearing character t-shirts, they will definitely still be comfortable. Still t-shirts and shorts, just themed for the experience. :thumbsup2 I agree with the comment that way too much money is spent on a vacation like this to later on flip through scads of pictures of my boys in worn out, stained clothing. :rotfl:

Oh - and I got my t-shirts for a steal on Ebay.;)

I would have to say that I am quite laid back about what we wear BUT we do all always coordinate and usually have boutique outfits themed for each park. Of course doing this with DS6 and DH is much different then doing it with girls.

If we go out at home though I like to coordinate too. I don't want us clashing standing next to each other in a picture. Coordinating makes for wonderful pictures (to me).

I'm so nutty about it that not only did I plan my own 4 kids' wardrobes, I also planned and bought and sewed some clothing for my 2 nieces for our joint trip as well. So the 6 kids will be coordinating almost every single day. <blush!>

I get so excited 9 months before a trip I have outfits had made off ebay for my daughters. Of course they have to have matching hair bows and shoes. The outfits also match what we have planned for the day. Example: If we are eating at the castle they wear "Snow White" bibs with snow white hair bows. I sent pictures in my christmas letter this past year. I had friends who are planning a trip and wanted to know where I get my outfits cause they look so cute. I also try to make sure we all have matching colors on. I want the pictures on my walls and scrapbooks to look cute. Therefore if I'm wearing a red shirt to match the girls in a minnie mouse outfit my husband wears a white polo or a t-shirt that would match...I'm a nut!

LOL, I do it too! We are going in September. This will be my DS's 1st trip and DD's 2nd. I went to Gymboree last week to redeem my gymbucks for complete outfits for my baby! LOL crazy huh?

Stains happen. What do you do, not if but when, that icecream, ketsup, etc gets spilled on the clothes? I really want ideas because I have worked hard to make some of the clothes and plan the outfits. I do not want to freak out on my kids for being kids! They're way too old for bibs (unless lobster is being served!) so that is not an option.
