Hi All:goodvibes

Does anyone else get very emotional while at WDW? I have so many "moments" while we're there, like.......

When we go through the Disney gateway for the first time in ages?:sad1: :rolleyes1

Watching wishes?

Watching Illuminations? (the music feels like it's soaring through my very soul)

Watching the opening ceremony at MK, i always have a huge lump in my throat:hug:

Am i alone in this? Or are a few of you the same?

I KNOW that's why, when friends ask why we go back so often, we love to vacation here, over and above anywhere else in the world!

It's the most magical place on earth!:grouphug:

What do you think? What makes you return time and again?:goodvibes

yes, yes and yes,

but I can't explain it to any non-disney folks as they just don't 'get' the magic princess:

Yes Andrea, non-Disney peeps could never understand how it feels:hug:

Yes totally!

Its something no-one at work can understand, but my DH understand instantly.

There's the moment of walking out of the airport and into the humidity and seeing the blue sky and trees, makes me feel like I am home. There's driving under the arch and seeing Mickey - WOW!

Here's how sad I am - I will google earth Disney World PLUS on our last drive to Disney World this trip I videoed the trip in the car. Now my kids laughed at this during the drive and so did DH - BUT when its played back they all go Aww - I remember that! There's something special about tavelling on the roads that I love too.

Yep Vicky,

There's just something about that Florida smell! It's just not something you can express to someone that hasn't been.

That's whats so good about the Dis:disrocks: We ALL understant each others love of Disney and all things Floridean :grouphug:

Must admit I don't get emotional , guess we are too busy making sure Joshua has a good time - as many of you know is Autistic and cannot talk - there have been many many times over the years where we enjoy watching him have such a good time, especially on the rides he likes and playing in the pool (he loves water).
Often it's only after we leave the parks that we get chance to reflect on the things he did and enjoyed.
It's not that I am 'cold' or anything , far from it - just it's common for us to just try and make the most of the good times around all the parks, although seeing him happy on the likes of Peter Pan, Winnie The Pooh obviously gives us great pleasure.

Also we love Florida, not just Disney, I think the first time Julie cried was when Joshua did his first 'dance', that was in the Barney store at Universal Studios.
He has always enjoyed himself there.

Totally agree! :thumbsup2

That must've been a wonderful moment, Johnny... :goodvibes

as soon as i get off the plane i am teary

then again going into wdw

then again when i see the florida mall

Sounds like a great "moment" you had there Jonny, and yes, it's not just Disney but all over Florida, although i must admit to being a Disneyholic :flower3:

Nothing wrong with being a 'disneyholic' Audrey. ;)

Yes it was a great moment, think he was just under 2 years of age at the time, he has always liked Barney's playground area.
Naturally he loves FantasyLand just as much.

To be honest I think I have to admit I did get a 'lump in my throat' a few times as we drove into WDW, mainly because of the big smile on Josh's face!
So there you go I am a big softie after all.

I'm tearing up just reading your story Johnny. That is a wonderful memory :goodvibes

I feel like a 5 year old when we go through those arches at WDW.

I love the smell too - it's the water I think - makes me think yes I'm home :cloud9:

Agree totally. For some strange reason I got a lump in my throat walking through Osbourne Family Lights just before Christmas. It was late and there were not many people around and I was just sitting there whilst my family ran around taking pictures of anything and everything and it was just so peaceful and lovely. Also the Carol Concert always makes me shed a tear, although my sister always cries quite a bit at the concerts.

In my case, Disney is just the perfect vacation in a sometimes imperfect world.

I also reckon there is a particular "florida smell" that I love when I leave the plane and especially when I go to the car hire place - you're right, it's definitely difficult to describe to others.

I am an emotional person anyway, but yes, there is definitely an emotional moment when you enter the disney gates. Other emotional moments include the parades, illuminations, shows and especially the festival of the lion king which always gets me going with the music and the introduction to Simba.
I don't get this as much with non disney parks.

I know that feeling too Audrey - I get it every time !!

The best one is the feeling when you walk into Magic Kingdom for the first time and see the Castle - brings tears to my eyes !!

Sorry Kirsteen as anyone who read the 'ask me anything' thread on the community board a while back would know I have a habit of reducing many to tears on here.

I know I'm going to get through tons of tissues when we go for the first time. I cried my eyes out watching the video clip of Shamu soaking the audience at Seaworld on Kevs trip report! Johnny, yes you have reduced me to tears a few times as I know where you're coming from and what you going through although not to the same degree. Hope Joshua gives you lots to smile about on your next trip.

You've just reminded me about seaworld. I get a lump in my throat and choked up whenever the shows start, particularly the shamu show, and even worse the night one where everyone gets more involved.

I know that feeling :thumbsup2

It was always my mothers dream to take her grandchildren to WDW but she never lived to do it but now i am able to live out her dream (and mine ) and I get a bit emotional when i get near disney with MY grandchildren

May the magic of Disney last forever :tinker:
