Am I the only loser who edits for spelling constantly? I do know how to spell but I am constantly hitting wrong keys. I can't remember the last time I didn't have to edit for spelling.

Do you edit or leave it alone? Thanks.

Edited to state that this time I didn't need to edit for spelling.

I do, and it drives me nuts when someone quotes me and the wrong spelling ends up in the quotes. It's there forever then, and I can't fix it!!

Yes! I hate when I look back and see I've made a spelling mistake or put in one word when I meant another word.

When you say "edit" do you mean "proof" or is there some Spell-check feature I haven't found? I don't edit at all. :(

I can't spell for the life of me. -able, -ible...I never know. Also confused about double letters and such. Before I got other languages crammed into my head I was OK, now I can't spell in anything but Spanish, where it isn't confusing. :)

Add me to your list. I try to edit before I post, but I usually miss something.

Yes, I just can't stand a misspelled word. I know it is NOT a parameter of intellect or anything, it's just that on a forum where the written word is the only source of who you are I think it's important to spell it right... I type 150 words a minute and YES most of them are wrong at that rate, I just double check by previewing my post first.

BTW, I majored in English... is that a surprise?

If I can't figure out the correct spelling on something that I'm trying to post (because there is no spell check option) I will use a similar word that I can spell!!!!

I do as well. I try to check it before I post, but sometimes it gets missed.

Spelling errors, punctuation errors, bad grammar, run-on sentences, etc. all drive me crazy! I try to double & triple proof-read my posts before submitting.

I always look & if I see an error...I edit. Sometimes one gets away from me.

Dayumn, you are a typing fiend! I thought I typed fast at 95 wpm.

My fingers feel it when I make a mistake most of the time, so I'm able to correct it right away. Any mistakes that remain are just typos, and I do try to correct them.

(Majored in English too, and thisclose to my masters in secondary ed in English. I have to say, though, that the only time other people's mistakes ever bother me is when they're being self-righteous or snotty.)

I edit as I type. If I see I mistyped or misspelled something. I will back space. Like just then I forgot the space between I and "w" and I had to back up and fix it right then.

I do most of the time.

www.iespell.com

is what I use before I post a message. I even correct other people's messages if I quote them in my reply.

ETA. Just corrected a error on this!!

It doesn't bother me to read other peoples posts who have spelling or grammatical errors but it bugs the "stuffing" out of me when I make a spelling error.

I couldn't agree more. I type very fast, so I mispell a lot. I won't edit for a switched letter, but I'll edit if I totally mutilate a word.

I rarely proof read anything, but if I happen to notice I misspelled something, I'll edit it as soon as I see the mistake.

1. Write my message.
2. Re-read it, checking for errors.
3. Preview the post, check for any errors I missed and correct them as well.
4. Post the message.
5. Read the posted message, find one or two mistakes I overlooked all the other times.
6. Edit the post and correct the newly found errors.

That USUALLY does it! :teeth:

I try to, but if I didn't know how to spell it the first time then it's doubtful that I will know how to fix it! :rotfl2:
