The minute we drive onto property and see those buses, we get so excited. We're here!!!!!!! On our last trip to WL, we used the boat to MK and used our car to go to Epcot and MGM. I found myself missing the buses....

So, I convinced DH to take the bus to AK. It was wonderful. We shared with GF, which was right on the way.
We really haven't had many bad bus experiences. A crowded bus at opening and closing times is normal to me and I have never had to wait longer than 20 minutes for a bus (at most)-most waits are less than 10. There is just something about gettting on that bus in the morning!

The bus trip is part of the WDW experience - great for the kids who are so used to being in a car all the time

thanks

The only real issue I have with the busses is people standing when it's crowded. I just find it hard to believe that can be safe. We will wait for the next bus before we will stand. Last trip we stayed at AKL and the bus service there was so great it was almost unbelievable. But like you said Susy, seeing those busses when you drive on property is a thrilling moment. You know you're at Disney World!!

Why do you think it is unsafe to stand on busses? I use mass transit daily and there are always people standing whether bus, train or subway. Its always more comfortable to get a seat but as long as you hold on its ok.

When we go in 2 weeks it'll be our first time staying on-site so am really looking forward to using the buses from Pop Century, to me it's all part of the experience. Am getting so excited now. When we went back in March 2003, we stayed at the Quality Inn International and every time we went to Disney and passed under that sign, I got tearful :hyper: Let's just hope I don't get over emotional every time I get on the bus ;)

That's one of the things we like, too! When we see our first WDW bus we get excited. I like to sit all the way back, by the engine because I'm always cold on them. I look forward to that ride when the park closes. Sometimes I fall asleep on the way back to the room at the end of the night. And usually the drivers are just so nice and informative. Last October we had a great driver at OKW who had us singing songs on the way to MK. I wish I could remember her name.
The sound and sight of a bus always brings me back to WDW.

I'm a new convert to the buses. We just got back from our first onsite stay yesterday and I loved the buses! We usually waited a max time of 10 minutes and never had to stand once, although some were very crowded. Some of the drivers are great too, singing, telling jokes etc. All were very polite though, even the quieter ones.

As a single parent and having an elderly parent, I'm the one who constantly drives at home! At WDW, I get to sit back, relax and have someone else worry about the traffic!

Plus where else can you occasionally get your own bus to drive you to your PS's in the morning! It's great to pull up to a resort and have "VIP Castmember" on the Bus! as you are getting off! The only downfall, I have yet to have met Tyler, but hopefully he will be at Pop Century over Easter!

Scratch- I am with you! DH and I chauffer(sp?) constantly all year long and we LOVE not to have to park, find directions, fight traffic, etc. Long live the WDW Bus!

We love the WDW buses! My DH parks our car and we rarely use it for the rest of our vacation.

The bus system at WDW works well. We have used it many times without incident and recommend that you use it.

This thread is making me happy! I hear such bad things about the buses, but we plan on using them.
We have a 15 passenger van, so it would be a pain to drag it around the parks. I only hope it will fit in the parking space at our cabin!
Anyway, I AM looking forward to the buses, and as long as our first day goes well with getting our kids and dbl stroller on and off, we should be ok. ::yes::

the parking spaces at FW cabins are big!

my first couple of trips were to the Polyn - learned to love the monrail (which you can also stand on)....so we have to ride it at least once when we go to WDW.

now on the other hand - my niece's first trip was the POR (DL then) and it was buses - her first trip on a bus.....well to this day she preferred bus over the monrail, boats and of course walking....

We love the buses and never drive when we have a car. Last summer however we did take our car 1 day since we had an early PS at Chef Mickeys, then were going to MGM. It was such a pain to have to drive around, park take the tram, find the car after a day in the park(catch phrase for the rest of the trip became"Red Stage 35"), get in a hot car, etc.... We much prefer the buses. On our last trip we had no problem with buses to & from the Swan & the Poly. Both had great bus service. I dont think we had to stand once.

The fact that we can spend the whole week being carted around by bus, boat and monorail is part of what gives us that "resort" feeling about being someplace special.

We drive to WDW. We park the car when we arrive, and we don't touch it again until we are leaving for home. WDW transportation is part of the whole Disney experience. We always point out the first Disney bus we see as we arrive on property. It makes so happy to see that first bus, because then I know I'm really there!

I even love the smell of those buses. I can close my eyes and imagine the smell right now. It reminds me of being at WDW, and anything that reminds me of my magical WDW trips is a good thing! :)

We're the same way!
Our last trip we didn't drive- and decided since we weren't planning on IOA/US nor eating off property/etc. that we wouldn't rent a vehicle either. We relied the entire 13 days on WDW transportation- mostly buses. It was fine- the only thing is we refuse to stand. Well there was ONE time DH stood- but that's it.... the rest of us sit (kids sitting, me sitting holding stuff & stroller- I couldn't do that properly while standing also).

I didn't mind on previous trips standing myself- but it ISN'T safe for my kids to be standing- they don't hold on tight, they don't have good balance as an adult does, etc.

The only thing we didn't like about using the buses had nothing whatsoever to do with the buses-it had to do with the darn stroller. It's a pain lugging that around. Another reason why DH doesn't want to go back to WDW until the stroller is no longer needed. LOL

(and I kinda agree with him... after the one time my youngest and I going alone and she fell asleep- boy that was hard dealing with almost 40lbs asleep.... plus the stroller. LOL)

That is the single biggest reason why I can't bring myself to stay offsite. Getting to have someone else drive is definitely a big part of the magic!

Only once did we have to wait more than ten minutes for a bus: we cowered in the rain for over 40 minutes at WL, which is infamous for its poor bus service. However, that really has been the exception to the rule. The monorail is always impressive, and the boats offer relaxation and a breeze, but we've always been happy with the buses.

My 4 year old LOVED the buses!!

We loved them too - no worries about parking or traffic.

Hi susy!! :wave2:

We LOVE the WDW buses!! :sunny: I was beginning to think we were the only ones. We drive every day at home, so while on vacation we LOVE getting onto those buses and not having to think about a thing except which park, which restaurant, etc!! :teeth:
