We purchased Annual Passes for me, DH and our 7 year old son for our trip last December. DD was only 2 at the time so she didn't need a ticket. We are planning on going back in October but DD will be 3 at the time. Will the cast members at the entrance ask her age or for proof of her age? I'd like to not have to buy a ticket for her until our passes come up for renewal in December...

I'm not going to get into whether its "right" to do this or not (because I would just buy a ticket IMO), but I will share this:

When we went 1.5 yrs ago, our DD was 2yrs and 10 months old. She is very big for her age (always in the 90 percentile at doc's office). We took her birth certificate with us just in case we were questioned, but we never were.

I guess it might depend on how old your child looks, whether or not they would question.

As the others have said, a 3 year old does need a ticket. If you're comfortable breaking Disney's rules and lying to the castmember in front of your childern then you might be able to get away with it.

If you are asking if you will be stopped and asked to provide proof of age the answer is most likely no unless your child appears to be significantly over the age of three.

Seriously. I hate these questions. Do they need a ticket? Yes, because Disney says if you are 3, you need a ticket to enter the park. There's no reason to ask unless you are looking for people to support doing the wrong thing.

I agree.

I look at it this way....would you be okay with it if your child lied to you? By lying about his/her age, you're teaching them that it's okay to lie (and technically steal).

I don't think that stealing and lying are values that anyone really wants to instill in their children. :)

ETA: Just caught onto OP's screen name...that coupled with the fact that this thread is her first post, makes me think that something fishy may be going on. ;)

Yes, your 3 year old will need a ticket in order to enter the parks because that's Disney's policy. Have a great trip!

Yes, a three year old is required to have a valid ticket for admission.

:thumbsup2 Exactly. In this case, it is Disney, not Mom, who makes the rules. Sneaking in a 3-year old is no different than someone hopping the fence to get in without a ticket.

OP, go before your child turns 3 if you really can't afford the couple hundred dollars for the one ticket you will have to buy.

No popcorn needed, nothing fishy. Simply trying to find out if I can postpone buying another ticket until December when passes come up for renewal.

Love it when the first posts are hot button ones. Your question has been anwered...YES, you need to buy your 3 year old a ticket. Enjoy your trip! :thumbsup2

I've seen parents trying to "sneak" their kids in with the "she's two" story. It's embarrassing. Buy the ticket, and get on with your vacation, is my answer.

On this very issue is how we plan our disney trips.

Last year we went to disney when our son war less then 2 weeks form being 3. We are doing the same thing exactly in 2 years concerning our second son.

The OP is asking, "If I steal, will I get caught." That is the risk you run when you steal. If you walk into Target and stuff a shirt in your purse beacause you don't feel like paying for it, will they stop you on the way out? No one can say for sure.

Hmmmmm...your post made me think I might want to bring my son's with us. He's 2 years 9 months and is short for his age, but I'd rather be prepared in case we get "looks" than deal with people questioning us. Plus we have an almost 4 year old and people always ask us all the time if they are twins so we don't want people to think we only paid for one to have an annual pass and are too cheap to buy the other kid one :lmao:

If anyone questioned me about my kids' ages when they were younger, you bet your last dollar that they'd speak up and say "MOM, I'M 3!!!!. I wouldn't take the chance and I wouldn't like to lie/steal, especially with my kids looking on.
