Dodges a bullet *WHEW*

You should have been fired. What your coworker said was wrong, but in no way does it justify him being physically attacked. You have proven that you are more of a liability to your company then some homophobic person.

I have a feeling this is all just made up anyway, so why are we bothering to respond? :rotfl:

:thumbsup2

I have that feeling too, but what the heck, it could be entertaining! :lmao:

I dont know about the person that got assaulted, I think they go to HR and file a complaint. I had to let a person go when they threatend a co worker, there were no ifs, ands, or buts.

I am wondering as I think about this thread:

The OP says he regrets "losing it" on the guy. Ok - but then he threatens his employer in the next breath? So is he really sorry he did it?? That stood out to me.

...which is why we're saying he's a troll. I think he made this entire story up.

The OP that I presume is a he, is is either trying to stir the pot with a BS story and knows that it will get people here worked up with this wild fantasy.....

Or the OP is desperate for attention, so much in fact, that he is hoping that strangers on a internet forum will tell him what a great guy he is for standing up to a form of bigotry. Even though by using physical force on that person in the work place, has violated the law and committed assault, he wants us to pat him on the back. Why would we cheer on a person who hasn't learned that being an adult requires you to act like one and not like mean 3rd graders on a playground?

My question to the OP is, if the story is true, how is the new job search going? Because in real life if you physically assault another coworker in the work place, you're gone. Security is called and they will escort you out to car, with possible police involvement outside the building. Period. End of story.

In real life, just wanna tell you 'n yours Merry Christmas!! Hope you've been well. :goodvibes

heck, I know people who have lost their jobs for less. And I know of someone who almost lost her job for making homophobic statements on the job. So if this had really happened, OP, you could have taught your daughter how to correctly fight this battle.

Just got to say Remus...sometimes I get mesmerized watching the kitty, mouse, and spoon! I can't help it :)

Not a troll....a regular poster. But the story does strike me as false. He usually portrays himself as a pretty stand-up guy.

I think you might be on the short list next time any cuts are made.

Very possible. I have a exemplary work history here, and I am the liaison with the State. Not many in my field so replacing me wont happen quickly. The State Representatives like me as well, and that benefits the employers. Additionally, this isnt the first time this person made statements like this. I just didnt know he knew my buddy was gay. He is not a steroetypical media personification of "gay"

This is when a whitty comment like "I'd rather take my child over to a homosexuals house than to a dumb@$$s house - BTW, thanks for the invite, but we won't be at your home this Holiday Season."

I usually am a quick thinker, but this wasnt the case

but you were WAY over the line.

No argument. I didnt say I wasnt wrong

You were asked earlier what you meant by "got physical", which you ignored.
There is a wide range of possiblities - did you just shove him, or did you beat him to an inch of his life? Did he have to seek medical care? Were there witnesses?

Yes it was a 2 handed shove. Physical is physical. I made contact with him. That is all that is going to be viewed when policy is considered

EDIT: Yes, numerous people saw the incident

You beat me to it!

Either a troll, or a violently unstable person. Take your pick.

Actually, I am a very level headed person. Usually not emotional. Cant really address Troll, no matter what I say, wont change your POV

Because we have Policy Manuals, any corrective action must go through the manual. Thus, you cannot out right terminate someone where I work. They can put me on Admin Leave until it is reviewed.

I dont think they will get rid of me (crosses fingers) since the guy I shoved "dropped" his complaint. I believe my decade of good work will overshadow 1 aw crap.

Don't know where my post went...but dngnb8 I tend to agree with those who have said they will probably fire you eventually. They are likely in talks with HR and lawyers or looking for "alternate" reasons to let you go. I hope you've begun canvassing for a new job (and a good lawyer?).

I won't beat you up over this (pun intended) as it sounds like you are sorry for what happened. I hope the guy wasn't hurt and that you accept whatever fallout/consequences of your actions like a man.

Good luck.

OP, I think your job is safe for the simple fact that you made the whole thing up and it never happened.

I think you were just looking for pats on the back and "atta boys" from the people on this board for standing up to a bigot.

I like where I work. But if it ends, it ends. The people I work with at the State have mentioned interest in the past.

The guy wasnt injured at all. In fact, he chuckled at my lack of physical prowess
