I like where I work. But if it ends, it ends. The people I work with at the State have mentioned interest in the past.

Which now begs the question, why would he go to HR then? If he thought you were inadequate or lacking in prowess why would he run to HR and tell them "That weiner guy hit me!"? Guys generally aren't tattlers too. If he laughed off your shove I can only imagine one reason he would go to the higher ups...to see you canned.

You were obviously friendly enough with him BEFORE to discuss things like dinner plans...most guys would forgive a friend for an angry "lacking prowess" shove.

Cause I stood up for gays? We exchanged heated words in the event. I called him names that suit his (homophobe, bigot) philosophy etc. He called me a cigarette lover (see british slang for cigarette)

I shoved him when he made the comment about taking my daughter over to my buddys house.

I then raised my voice, and asked him why he was such a bigoted homophobe? He then asked me why I was such a cigarette lover. That pretty much was the extent of the whole affair.

Gotcha.

Just be ready for whatever backlash may come. It's very hard to keep quiet (or composed) when faced with bigotry, and it may be a costly mistake you've made...or you could get very very lucky and it will all fade away. Time will tell.

Have you never read anything written in dialect? I know some folks had trouble reading "The Help" because they couldn't handle it. It does take some getting used to.
