Do your kids decorate their lockers at school?

Just a simple question -- if you have a child who uses a locker at school, do they decorate the inside of it?

Just wondering it this is a popular thing to do everywhere.

Thanks for your input!!!

I did way back when - over 25 years ago.

DDs are in middle school. Some kids decorate their lockers, some don't. DDs bought stuff to decorate their lockers with (chandelier, rug, shelves, pencil cup, mirror, etc.), but since their lockers are really out of their way, they never use them. All of that stuff now sits in their room.

My dd wants to decorate hers, but her friend (who goes to a different school in a different state) told her it wasn't "cool".

I told her to do what she wants and don't worry about being cool. You can't be cool at 10 years old, anyway. LOL!

Just curious to find out what other kids are doing.

I sure did, back in the day! I know that at my kids school, at least the 3rd grade girls are into it. I can't remember if it was big prior to this year. But they have pics, mirrors, etc.

Good to hear! Thanks!

My DS is in 6th grade. He does not decorate his locker. I think a few of the girls do, but not many. Their lockers are so small (half lockers, and very narrow) that I don't think there's much room for extra "stuff."

My DD is in high school. She says that some kids decorate their lockers, but most do not. Most who do decorate have a mirror and a few pictures. She is definitely in the do not decorate camp (she hardly ever even uses her locker, to be honest).

One of the things they do here is that kids who are in band or one of the sports decorate the outside lockers of the seniors who participate in that sport (or band) prior to the last home game of the season. Normally they put some pictures of the student, cut outs of their uniform number and streamers in the school colors or something of that sort.

No.

My kids are in middle school and decorating the inside or outside of lockers is not permitted.

I teach at a middle school. A lot of girls decorate the inside of their lockers with pictures and mirrors. I did the same in middle school. High school I didn't use a locker but I know many girls did the picture/mirror combo again - never goes out of style!

My DD is in middle school and she has a few decorations hanging in her locker. Mostly they're practical like colorful magnets to hang her schedule on and a little magnetic mirror.

In high school lockers were optional and very few people got one. In middle school I think I had a mirror in mine (maybe) and that's about it. They were barely big enough to hold my backpack let alone anything else.

They can. My daughter decorates her friends lockers for their birthdays. She got her sdecorated a few weeks ago. I think it is sweet. :)

My HS daughter can't even get into her locker at school because she can't remember the combination and keeps forgetting to go to the office to get it. Thankfully there is nothing in it. She uses her band locker instead and she does not decorate.

My DD decorated the inside of her locker this year with a magnetic mirror and other magnets. A magnetic picture frame and a few other little things. Nothing permanent like stickers or anything.

the big thing here is decorating the outside of your friends locker for their Birthday (middle school girls)

Oh boy, do they! It started in 5th grade, when they first got lockers. We're talking "carpet", wallpaper, mirrors, magnets, flowers, scented things, curtains, hanging beads, disco balls.......you name it. I drew the line at a WORKING CHANDELIER! :lmao:

Although I did think my kitties would have appreciated a mini working chandelier in their cubby. :cat:

Yep! That's what I'm hearing! :)

At our Middle School many GIRLS do. My sons had zero interest in it. There were mothers with paper, stencils, flowers, lights, etc.
