What's a checkbook? Seriously, I carry an old ratty check in my wallet in case I need it but I'm betting I write one check a year if that much. I do balance the checkbook at work but it's on the computer.
Rare to find anyone with a cheque book Down Under these days.
I wasn't aware they were still a thing with credit cards and pay wave.
you dont have credit cards ? then how do you get in debt ?
We don't have cheque books, well we do but rare. I think people would fall over in shock if someone wanted to pay with a cheque.
We have credit and debit cards. and use paywave.
checks are still pretty cool, I could walk away with a Mercedes Benz , write a check to pay for it in total, and just have to pay the 35 dollar over draft![]()
Even 20 years ago when I still wrote a lot a checks, I rarely physically balanced the checkbook. When the monthly statement came in, I'd glance at it and say, "looks OK."
Bank statements are online now, but I still don't keep track of the dozens of monthly debit purchases or ATM withdrawals. Just look at the balance to make sure it looks reasonable.
I might write 4 or 5 checks a year now for miscellaneous things.
I've heard people say that no one writes checks anymore but that not's entirely true. Being in a service business most of our payments come in check form.
