Do you wear your contacts on fast rides?

Do you wear your contacts on fast rides? We are going to WDW and I can't decide if I should wear my contacts or my glasses (which I hate). I don't want my contacts to fly out of my eyes if I get on a fast ride like Space Mountain and etc. What are your experiences with this?

I wear my contacts all day long. I've never had a problem on any of the rides. I also wear them to the water parks. I just don't open my eyes under water. I have soft lenses which don't pop out like the hard lenses do.

I have never had my contacts fly out of my eyes. I always pack solution and drops though because the heat and sun makes my eyes feel drier than normal. Glasses are just a pain to hold, clean, take on and off. etc. Sometimes you want to see on a ride and can't and then they fog up going in and out of air conditioning. I'd stick with the contacts.

Do you wear gas-permeable hard lenses or soft? I've been wearing soft contacts for 16 years and have only had one pop out of my eye once in that time, and it was while I was trying to scrub stray mascara off my lower eyelid, not on a rollercoaster!

Definitely carry your drops, though, and maybe a small bottle of saline. I do find at Disney that I need to go into the bathroom and rinse them sometimes because sweat gets in my eyes.

Definitely my contacts. Before I had contacts, I would always take off my glasses before going on a fast ride, in fear of them falling off.. I think it would be much more likely for glasses to fall off than a contact..

I have the soft disposable (change every 2 weeks) ones.
And do they frequently pop out of your eyes? Like I said, in 16 years I've only had it happen once.

I guess I just don't understand why you think they even could fall out of your eyes.

They're not going to fall off your eyes. They're held on by surface tension. The only way they'd come off on a ride is if you rubbed your eye. What I'd be more concerned about is you'll probably feel them getting dry on the faster rides if you have your eyes open..and that hasn't even been that bad for me. Luck favors the prepared, so take extra lenses and drops with you. I agree with PPs that you'll probably find you have more issues with sweat getting in your eyes, or getting that gritty feeling after while.

Another contact wearer with no issues on the rides. The only one that's a little crazy is Rock 'n Rollercoaster in the front row. The wind is enough to dry anyone's eyes out. :lmao:

on this note, walmart sells a box of individual "eyedrop vials"....70 vials for $10. They're great for travelling. I always throw a few in my pocket on park days... there's just enough solution in each vial to re-wet your contacts.

I can understand your cocnerns. I wear soft they don't fall ot nor do I think that they would, but they do get irritated and teary on fast rides mostly due to the wind. I ALWAYS wear sunglasses on rides and they seem to help.

I don't wear contacts but common sense tells me that you are much more likely to have a problem with glasses 'flying off your face' than with contacts 'flyng out of your eyes.'

My glasses have never fallen off.

I wore my contacts. No problems at all. If you're concerned though, just pack an extra pair, just in case. I always bring an extra pair or two when I travel.

I've never worn my glasses at WDW. You'll be fine. :)

LOL, I had a contact fall off during Space Mountain. I wear Acuvue advance lenses. I still wear contacts, though. I just carry an extra pair, a sample bottle of solution(get it at the drs office), and eyedrops. Much better than wearing glasses.

My husband and I both wear contacts and have never had a problem on any rides. We bring extra contacts us with us in case something happens to a pair, but that has been more in case we accidently rip one, not so much a concern about loosing one on a ride. I wouldn't worry about! It's better to wear contacts so you can wear sunglasses as well! :)

I am not sure but I think test track is the fastest ride at disney and I have never had any problems with my contacts falling out on it. I don't like drops so I don't know about space mountain but I wouldn't even consider wearing my glasses to disney

Space mountain as far as coasters go is pretty slow. In fact in the coaster world, SM would be considered a junior coaster.

I wear my contacts EVERYWHERE! I have never had any trouble on a ride of any kind. I wear them swimming too, but sometimes they go off center in the water, mostly when I rub the water from my face. I have to be careful, but if I didn't wear them, I wouldn't be able to see anything. I'm blind as a bat!
