Do you use E-cigarettes in the park?

Even if you are smoking an E-Cigarette, just try to have some respect and class. We were in line at POTC on our last trip and the lady in front of us had an e-cig. She was constantly taking a drag and turning around and blowing the vapor right into her husbands face in the middle of the queue (in the building). He didn't seem to care, but it was like this woman was going out of her way to draw attention to herself. Almost like she wanted someone to call her out on it so she can fight with them. :sad2:

Since e-cigarettes are so new and not many people know about them, try to be a little subtle when using one outside of a designated smoking area. I know it is your right, but it is also another guests right to express their concern when it comes to something so foreign to them.

Just curious...where can you get these e-cigarettes? We live in Canada and i have never heard of them! We have Nicorette inhalers but the e-cigarette sounds different and would help my husband when we are in a smoke-free hotel room!
Thanks!

You may want to read what the FDA warns about e-cigs.

Smokers are not put off my warnings. The only thing I would like to know is what will non-smokers be inhaling. If it is SAFE, then I don't care. if it is not SAFE, then I would care. I know this is selfish view, but putting peoples' health at risk for second-smoke is very selfish too.

I guess of people are going to smoke anyway, at least these just release water vapor into the air which is not as bad as second hand smoke.

I see them in kiosks at the malls here in the US.
You can see a pretty big selection of e-cig merchandise on Amazon, no idea about the quality of the products, though. I found them by searching "electronic cigarette". :smokin:

I agree with your assessment of the woman's behavior. Constantly taking a drag is not the way most people use them. Usually a drag or two every hour or so will do ya. They are very easy to use without exhaling a cloud of vapor, so there's no reason for anyone to even notice . I keep it very subtle in public.

I'm just glad that this alternative exists and as far as I'm concerned they can be used anywhere. Not even the FDA has found a reason to be against these things so far.

I think the "so far" part is what has people reasonably concerned.

I can understand that but they might never find anything. This is such a better alternative and as pointed out the known chemicals are in other products.

Besides, I sense that some people just simply don't want people to use these. They look at this as smoking and they are just anti-smoking and that is that.

That's all true. But because it's so new, I see no reason to force the issue. If people are uncomfortable with it, that has to be respected along with the rights of people to smoke (whether it's these or "real" cigarettes).

Again, WDW is a big place... I'm sure there's room for everyone if everyone is willing to respect each other.

I'm glad that scientists have developed a viable alternative to tobacco smoking. My parents, aunts, uncles and cousins all smoke. I grew up as a non-smoker smelling like I smoked a pack a day. It was disgusting and it made my eyes, nose and lungs hurt.

While I wish that there was no need for e-cigarettes in the first place, I can't help but think that an odorless, tarless alternative to the nastiness of regular cigarettes is a good thing. For now.

I think it's great that they have this as a healthier alternative to traditional cigs. However, if they look like (and the people smoking them act like) it's the real thing, it should be kept in the smoking area.

If passing by adults don't know the difference, children won't either.

I personally believe that children shouldn't be exposed to an example of smoking.

According to Wikipedia their sale or importation has been banned since March 2009.

"Health Canada cited the Food and Drugs Act, stating that electronic smoking products containing nicotine require market authorization before they can be imported, marketed, or sold. No market authorization has been granted for any electronic smoking product"

If people are allowed to wander the park smoking e-cigs, rather than be restricted to designated smoking areas, people smoking real cigarettes may either try to take advantage and do the same, or they may genuinely believe that it's acceptable for them to smoke anywhere. Oh, wait, some of them already do.

I bought mine at a gas station on the way home from Disney one trip, my husband thought I was crazy. The first one I bought was $50 and included the vapor maker, two batteries, a charger and 10 filter cartridges. I lost that one, so when I bought another one I paid $30 and got a car charger, one battery, the vapor maker and 5 cartridges. Mine is the njoy brand. I do buy my cartridges at the mall kiosk, even though they are a different brand name they still work. The mall kiosk by me charges over $100 for the starter kit, so it was a great deal to buy it at a gas station. I have seen them at most of the stations between WI and FL.

I saw a woman "smoking" an e-cig on a plane a few weeks ago. It looked just like a real cig and it looked like it was smoking. I was sitting next to her across the aisle, so I could figure out it wasn't a real cig, but I thought the people sitting behind her were going to have a stroke. heh On a long flight, if the airlines allow it, I think they would help people, but we were on a 40 minute flight so she probably shouldn't have done it on the plane. She was definately trying to keep it on the DL though, so props to her.

My DH e-smoked at Disney all week last week, and nobody approached him at all. He didn't try too hard to be discreet about it, but neither was he "in your face". He puts a pen-clip on his e-cig, and clips it to his front pocket like a pen.

Please PM me the site that helps newbies. I am very interested in this and have no idea where to start!

Thanks

DH has been smoking an e-cog for months and they are awesome. He uses one from Vapor King and seems qute happy with it and with all the choices in flabors. His current fave is green tea (with his second being bananas foster). The e-cig itself lights up blue so even if he were to vape in the middle of a restaurant or something, you could easily tell it isn't the same as a real cig. Also, his has no smell at all (even the ones that are cigarette flavored) so it's great for me.

He hasn't used it at Disney yet, but has used it everywhere else including NYC. No issues at all, just some interested people wanting to know what it is and where to get one. As a pp mentioned, it's fine to use outside of the designated smoking sections at Disney. Like anything, though, I woudl just use common sense. You shouldn't do it in line just like you shouldn't blow bubbles or use a whistle or something like that in line either.

And as for kids seeing it, they will see (and do) plently of things in their lifetime that parents can't control. Just talk to them about it same as you would anything else.

Wow, kind of surprised they allow that on a commercial plane these days. Even if an airline stated it was okay, i wouldn't for fear of becoming the next news headline if something happened...i could just see it now..."the cigarette bomber"
