Do you Tip Uber?

When Uber first came out, one of the appeals was it is cashless and tip was included in the price.
My daughter told me that has changed over the past few years and drivers now expect a cash tip.
Do you tip, or is tip included in the price of the ride?

Never tip. One of the reasons I like Uber is that I don't really carry cash, and rarely small bills. I do have a suspicion that some drivers won't rate you 5* if you don't tip, but whatever.

No. I use them at least twice a week and never tip. If they start expecting tips I will switch to Lyft.

Last week when I used it to move from one Disney Resort to another, I did tip the driver. He loaded and unloaded 5 suitcases and two carryons into the back of the mini van, there was no way that I would have felt comfortable not tipping him.

Had we not had suitcases and bags, I probably wouldn't have tipped at all.

Tip is not included. However their whole premise is/was that the price is the price and no tipping was expected.

Tip is not included and I know people who regularly tip and people who regularly don't tip. I hardly ever use it so don't have experience to speak of.

I have never used them but why wouldn't you tip. Isn't the same thing as a Taxi?
This always turns ugly, and as I said above I hardly ever use it myself so I can't speak from personal experience, but my understanding is that the whole idea of Uber is that it's meant to be a cashless system and thus having cash for a tip is not necessary; drivers are to be compensated well enough without it. In practice, I have no idea how well drivers are compensated, but that was the idea.

I don't know how they are compensated either, but the first time we used them was from Universal to Discovery Cove and back. Including a convenience store stop. Trips were less than 8 dollars.

A five dollar tip was just being a decent human being in my opinion.

I have only used one uber on a business trip. The person I was with said that it was cashless amd all done on the app so there was no tip expected.

Well in another thread Squirlz said that an uber isn't a taxi so there's that.

Some of you again are going off the premise that Uber drivers aren't compensated well so customers should pick up the slack. If the company doesn't want to pay their drivers a living wage, that is between them. That has absolutely nothing to do with me. I pay the fee that Uber charges on its cashless system and that is that. If Uber wants their drivers to be tipped, they can add a cashless tipping option and people can do it if they wish.
